Part 2: A week had passed since Bani's capture. Bani had lost all hope of ever leaving the place and was subjected to dance in front of countless number of men every day. She and the other women would get meals twice a day, sometimes once, if the men had forgotten about the 12 or so women held captive in the room. Bani had seen what protests brought upon. When some more girls were brought in a couple days ago, Bani had seen them protest and try to force their way out of the place, but to no avail. The men had beaten them and tortured them until they had no choice, but to comply with their orders. Bani didn't need Puja telling her what happens when you protest; she had seen it with her own eyes.
Bani had always been against trafficking and had felt sorry for those women who got trapped in it, but now that she herself was going through it, she really knew how those women had felt and what shame and misery it brought upon them. Bani had noticed that after some shows, not all the women were brought back into the room. One or two of the women were taken into separate rooms, while the rest were taken back into the same room. When Bani inquired to Puja as to why that was, she just replied that some of the customers want some "private" time with the girls and to just be glad that it hasn't happened to her yet.
Bani couldn't sleep at all that night. Some of the days, she would be able to sleep for a little while, because of the exhaustion that her body felt after dancing so much, while other days she just couldn't help but cry silently and pray to god to help her in the time of need. All Bani thought about that night was how Puja had said to be glad that it hadn't happened to her
yet, which meant that eventually it would happen and when it did, Bani didn't know what she was going to do.
The next day, Bani's worst fears had become reality. Right after all the women had finished dancing and were told to go back to their room, one of the men took Bani aside and locked her in a separate room. Bani knew what was happening, but she just couldn't believe it was actually happening. She had tried so hard to stick with her family's teachings and tried so hard not to break any of the rules that her parents had set for her, but it seemed that today, she had no choice. But, she had to try. She wasn't going to give in without a fight. Bani was going to protest for her rights, and if led to her death, then atleast she died with honor instead of with shame.
Bani was sitting in a corner of the room, crying in her lap, when she heard the doorknob turn. She didn't care, she wasn't going to look up. She just continued crying, starting to sob a bit harder, now that her end was much nearer. She could hear her heart beat faster than she thought was humanly possible. It felt as if her heart knew that what was happening was wrong and was trying to fly out of her body before it happened.
She heard footsteps walking towards her, yet she didn't dare look up. She didn't want to give the satisfaction of seeing her in her weak state. She stopped crying, wiped her tears, and looked up at the man. She was shocked out of her wits at what she saw before her.
