Chapter Eight
The next couple of days Jai and Bani got to know each other more and they interacted more. Seeing this brought a smile on Masi's face. They were finally getting comfortable with each other. Jai woke up in the morning and got dressed. As he was getting dressed he noticed the button of his shirt had broken off.
He scratched his head in frustration. Bani happened to pass by the room and she saw Jai holding his shirt looking at it. She came closer to see his button had broken off from his shirt. She walked in the room, "Would you like me to stitch the button back on the shirt for you?"
Jai nodded and she came back with the needle and thread. She carefully concentrated on stitching and she didn't even realize that Jai was staring at her. She was so close to him he could smell her heavenly perfume and feel her slender fingers on his chest.
He admired her beautiful eyes that was outlined with kohl and her luscious rosy lips that made him wonder how would it feel if he kissed her. Bani was almost done stitching and she used her teeth to cut the end of the thread. She looked up at Jai to see his chocolaty brown eyes staring at her.
His intense eyes were making her nervous and it didn't seem like he wanted to stop looking at her. "Done," Bani whispered nervously. Jai snapped out of his thoughts and glanced at his shirt. "Thanks," he quickly mumbled. They were so close, they felt the warmth of each other's bodies.
Jai slowly brought his face closer to Bani's, their lips were extremely close giving Bani shivers down her spine. As Jai was going to enclose his lips over Bani's he heard a knock on the door. They quickly moved apart and Jai went to open the door. It was Tony that knocked.
"Sir Aditya is on the phone," Tony announced. Jai nodded and went to receive the phone call wondering why he had to call in such a time. Bani got ready for college thinking if Jai was really going to kiss her or if he meant to do something else perhaps.
All these days he hadn't even touched her or showed any physical interest. Jai came back in the room and went to his dressing table. He wore his watch and from the mirror he saw Bani putting clothes away in the closet. "Bani today there is a party at one of our client's house and I was wondering if you would like to go," Jai asked. "Sure," Bani nodded like an obedient wife. "Alright than be ready when I pick you up after work," Jai told and left the room.
Rano left her apartment and waited for a taxi to take to college. She heard someone call her name and she turned around to see Ranveer in a white BMW waving at her. He drove over to her and rolled his window down. "What are you doing here?" Rano asked in a confused tone.
"I was passing by and I saw you so I thought I would say hi," Ranveer smiled. "By the way where are you going?" Ranveer asked her. "College was waiting for a taxi," Rano replied. "I'll give you a ride to college." Ranveer offered. "No it's alright," Rano shook her head.
"It's okay I am not in rush," Ranveer insisted. "Ummm okay," Rano gave in after a couple of seconds and sat in the car. She glanced at Ranveer who was wearing a white shirt with brown pants and shades. Than she turned her head towards the window and sighed.
"You know Rano I don't think our first meeting was proper we didn't really get off to a good start. That's why I think we should start all over again and become friends," Ranveer smiled. "Only friends?" Rano questioned suspiciously. "Well yeah I mean if you want more than friendship than I don't mind.." Ranveer said generously.
"No friendship is fine," Rano cut him off. "Good so friends?" Ranveer questioned. "Yeah friends," Rano flicked her hair. They talked more while on the way to Rano's college and than the car came to a halt as the college appeared in front of them.
Rano stepped out of the car but didn't close the door yet. "Thanks," she said genuinely. "Rano don't you think I should have your number now I mean we're friends," Ranveer smirked. "1-800-not interested," Rano replied sarcastically. "I meant it in a friendly way," Ranveer explained. "Sure you did," Rano said before closing the door and going to her college.
In class Rano saw that Bani wasn't paying attention much and she looked dreamily off to the distance. "Who are you thinking about?" Rano said snapping her fingers in front of her face. "Huh," Bani replied after noticing her surroundings. "Thinking about Jai?" Rano winked. Hearing his name she became a little sad and put her hand under her chin.
"What happened?" Rano questioned her. "Nothing it just seems like Jai isn't attracted to me," Bani sighed. "Why would you think that?" Rano asked. "Now that we are more comfortable with each other I thought maybe he would start to like me but I don't know if he thinks of me in that way," Bani admitted. "Don't worry, I got a idea," Rano smiled.
After office Jai came home to change his clothes for the party and take a shower. He didn't see Bani when he arrived so he just went to take a shower. Later when he came out he wore his black suit with white shirt leaving the first two buttons open showing his broad chest.
He was combing his hair when he saw Bani walk in the room. He was surprised and shocked at the same time to see what she was wearing. She had a light pink saree with silver embroideries decorating the fabric. The fabric was a bit transparent revealing her flat silky stomach.
The saree was designed in such a way it hardly looked as if there was a back. Bani's hair was in big defined curls flowing until her back and coming across her shoulders. She was wearing beautiful silver earrings and a well designed silver necklace.
Jai's intense eyes were glued on Bani. Bani became nervous wondering why she went through with wearing this and why she listened to Rano. "Shouldn't we be leaving for the party," Bani asked gently. Jai suppressed the overwhelming emotions that flooded him and he nodded going out the room.
They sat in the car and left towards the party. As they entered the party people were awed to see such a beautiful couple. Jai talked to his friends as Bani went over and talked to her own female friends. Jai saw a couple of men staring at Bani and he felt jealousy overcoming him.
He tried to ignore it but it began to irritate him when he saw them whisper something to each other. It was almost a hour they had been there and Jai had enough. He went over to Bani and told her he wasn't feeling well. Bani became concerned and they left the party immediately.
It had started raining heavily and Jai could hardly see the road. They were traveling over a muddy road which was not good. Suddenly the car came to a stop. Crap Jai thought. He tried turning on the car but it wouldn't turn on. He went outside in the rain and opened the hood.
He touched a couple of stuff and tried looking for the problem but he wasn't a mechanic so he didn't really know what he was looking for. He became drenched in the rain and it took him a while to inspect the car. Bani became worried and got out of the car.
She became drenched as well. "Mr.Walia are you okay?" she asked. "I'm fine Bani sit back in the car," he was getting frustrated. "But.." Bani was worried. "Sit back in the car," Jai snapped. She sat back in the car and felt tears well up in her eyes.
Jai came back in the car to start it but it didn't work again. He angrily hit the steering wheel. From the corner of his eye he saw Bani crying. Great what am I going to do now, he thought.
