Chapter One
The annoying high pitched ring sounded again and Jai groaned hating the fact someone was disturbing him while he was in deep slumber. Jai rubbed his eyes, and glanced at the clock on the night stand beside his bed 5:00 in the morning. He was going to snap if it was Pia.
"Hello?" he sounded grumpy and impatient. "Hi is Jai sir there?" a familiar voice replied gently. "Umm yeah speaking, may I know who you are?" Jai tried to speak politely although it came out as a yawn. "It's Tony…your butler….from India," he felt like he needed to remind him as though Jai had totally forgotten.
Jai was surprised 3 years since he hadn't received a phone call from his family and Tony was calling all of a sudden. A panic went through him, wondering if something tragic happened. "What is it?" Jai asked impatiently with fear in his voice. "Has something happened?" Jai corrected his question.
"Sir your father has fallen ill." Tony said calmly. "Is it serious?" Jai asked. "No..uhh" Tony stuttered. "Just tell me," Jai snapped with a hint of worry in his voice. "The doctors say he is very critical and he doesn't have much time," Tony uttered. "He has also requested to meet you once before he…" Tony voiced sadly.
Jai sighed deeply and ran his fingers through his thick hair. "I will be there as soon as I can," Jai announced and with that he hung up the phone. Jai started to pack his clothes and didn't really care which ones he was packing. He just needed a couple of clothes to wear.
He later called his company telling them an emergency came up and he had to leave to India immediately. Usually most companies wouldn't let their employees leave in such a short notice especially in a fast paced place like New York but Jai was a hardworking and loyal employee. Plus his boss was his friend.
Jai quickly also phoned a travel agency to book his ticket and after that was set he was going to leave tonight to India. One last thing was left to do, he had to break this news to his hard headed girlfriend Pia. He called her over to his house and she came sensing the tension in his voice.
"Jai what happened?" Pia said as she entered his house and scanned through the room to see two luggage bags on the floor. Jai explained his situation to her and she frowned to hear him say he was going to leave. "But Jai what about your job?" Pia asked after he was done explaining.
"Pia my father is more important," Jai retorted. "I know but you haven't seen his face for three years so why all of a sudden…." Pia frowned. "Three years ago when I decided to move to New York he wasn't happy with my decision, but I still left without his permission or approval. Now he probably wants to forgive me so his soul could be in peace if anything happens to him," Jai muttered.
"Alright if you have decided to leave than I hope you have a good journey and come back soon," she smiled and got up to leave. "Thanks but will you not drop me off to the airport?" Jai asked. "I'm sorry hunny but you know I have to attend my boss' party tonight and he would feel bad if I didn't show up," Pia expressed putting on a disappointed face for Jai.
"Yeah right," Jai shouldn't have expected much from his party girl type girlfriend. Pia pressed a kiss on his lips before leaving and hugged him tight. Later on Jai went to the airport to catch his flight to India. During the flight he caught up on some sleep he didn't get in the morning.
Jai finally reached his destination Mumbai. He took a taxi to the Walia Mansion and passed through familiar streets and places. He had spent his 25 years of life in India before going off to America. Now that he was 28 years old he owned a house in New York, worked in a large industry and was the second most important person there and dominant leader.
He also has a girlfriend Pia, the dreams of achieving higher success in a foreign country he had seemed to have achieved but there still seemed to be something missing. Jai snapped out of his thoughts when the taxi came to a halt. He gave money to the driver and stared at the Walia Mansion that was before his eyes.
Hey guys I'm back with my second FF! Had a great response from my other FF so I had a story in my mind and thought of writing it down. I will try to update efficiently and post hopefully two updates a week. Please tell what you think and if I should continue. Will be looking forward to reading the comments!
