Why is Jai shocked

Why is Jai shocked when he hears Tarun and Jigs talking about Bani, that Tarun is in love with Bani.

He already knows that Tarun is interested in Bani. In fact he had told Tarun, to back off, that he is the husband and a friend cannot be a husband.

I don't think it was a blooper. Even though Jai didn't like Tarun hovering around Bani so much, I still think that Jai only thought that Tarun was protecting Bani as a friend, a friend who was crossing his limits in the process.

Maybe deep down somewhere he did think that Tarun was falling for Bani but probably felt that was the cause of his own insecurities rather then Tarun's feeling for Bani.

I think the shock today on Jai's face just confirmed those hidden doubts he had.
