The rest of the wedding went on graciously. However, Bani couldn't help but notice the closeness of Jai and Simran. She always tries to dismiss such thoughts out of her mind, but they find their way back in… Jigs words also kept repeating in her head… what does she mean by long lost friend, thought Bani. She pondered over this a million times, and before she knew it, she found herself in front of the mirror once again, this time dressing for the reception, which was going to be held that evening. Bani didn't realize what she was doing. She wasn't even concentrating on the task in hand. Her hands automatically did the pleats, and then the pallu. Then she put on her jewelry like a routine and finished of with her mangulasutra and sindoor. I am worrying too much concluded Bani… I am sure they are JUST friends and nothing else…
Jai and Bani walked down the stairs hand in hand as the media waited at the foot of the stairs. As soon as the reached the bottom, they were swamped with reporters.
Reporter: Mr. Walia, is it true that you are going to become a father?
Jai and Bani smiled and nodded in approval.
Reporter: It is said that you are doing a project with Simran Kapoor. Is this true?
J: Yes… we are working on a project together…
Reporter: And are you going to work on more projects after this?
J: I only think about the present… not the future, so I can't answer that.
Reporter: Do u feel comfortable working with Simran?
J: Simran is a nice lady and we both are very good partners. I am sure this will be one of the most memorable experiences…
Reporter: Is it true that Simran is your ex-girlfriend and that matters came till marriage?
Reporter: If she indeed was your ex-girlfriend, how do u feel working with her now?
J: Sry… but we are getting late for the party.
Jai grabbed Bani by the waist and led her through the crowd. They were about to walk away when a reporter asked a question…
R: Mrs. Walia, do you mind Mr. Walia working with his ex-girlfriend?
B, turning around: When I don't have a problem with this, why do you? Now, plz excuse us… We are getting late…
JB walked into the party… Jai left and walked of to some important business associates, something he never does, noted Bani. Thinking that he may need some time alone she made her way to the rest of the family…
The dance floor cleared and opened for couples… The first one was obviously the newly wedded couple and soon everyone started to join… Bani looked around for Jai and found him dancing with Simran…
Now she was totally confused… Why was he dancing with her when she was clearly visible…?
Jigs: Feeling bad that someone else is dancing with ur husband?
Bani ignored Jigs and continued looking at the dance floor…
J: U didn't believe what I said to u… but now u can at least see for ur self…
B: I told u before and I am telling u again… I no Jai and he won't do anything wrong…
J: O sure… if having an affair with his ex-girlfriend is not wrong in your opinion, what could I say…
Bani was lost in thought once again… Simran was his girlfriend and he never told me… why? I mean I no he had girlfriends before and he knows that I don't have an objection now… then why did he lie to me that they were just friends…
J: I no Jai bhaiya didn't tell you that Simran was his ex-girlfriend and that you want to no more… I can tell you if u want…
J: Simran and Jai were good friends and soon they started going out with each other… they were very close to each other and they were going to get engaged when she refused because she wanted to go to USA and finished her studies… Jai bhaiya was very sad but they still kept in touch and as you can see now… they are still very close…
Bani just walked away from there… She kept thinking that these are all lies…
It was almost midnight when Jai made his way up to his room… He was worried about Bani and couldn't find her any where in the party and he never got the chance to look for her…. He opened the door to find Bani staring out the window…
J: Did u take ur medicines Bani?
No response…
J: Bani… I am asking u something…
No response…
Jai walked over to Bani and turned her around…
J: What happened Bani?
No response….
J: Bani say something for goodness sake…
B: I don't want to talk to you…
J: Why? What did I do now?
Bani started to walk away from Jai when he held her firmly…
B: Leave my hand…
J: No…
B: Just leave me alone will u?
J: Only after u tell me why you are mad at me…
B: ask urself that…
J: What do u mean…
B: Don't pretend Jai…
J, getting irritated: I am not… now tell me will you?
B: No…
J: Fine then…
Jai just walked off to the bathroom to change when a thought suddenly hit him…
J: Wait… you are not thinking about simran are you?
Bani just shrugged and Jai understood immediately…
J: Heaves Sake Bani… you no very well that there is nothing between me and Simran and how could u still think this…
B: How can I believe what u say when everything else says something else…
J: What says something else?
B: Is it true that she was ur girlfriend before?
J: I had many girlfriends before and they were just girlfriends… it doesn't matter…
B: Yes it DOES matter… why didn't u tell me?
J: Because I don't feel it is important…
B: Important? of course it is important that u tell me… I am YOUR wife…
J: Bani I don't think that I should explain myself in any way because I no that I am NOT wrong…
B: U r wrong Jai… and u have to give an answer to me…
J: Too bad… I am tired of this… I thought that at least u will NOT believe these things…
B: U are forcing me to believe all these things by not explaining to me…
J: ENOUGH BANI! ENOUGH! I am NOT going to give YOU any explanation and I do what you want…
Jai just felt the room abruptly and Bani was almost in tears… He never talks to me like this, she thought. She grabbed a shawl and set out for a walk… She needed some time alone…
Bani wrapped her shawl closer as a cool breeze blew past her… She controlled her tears as she walked… It is not my fault, thought Bani. It is he who is hiding things from me… I just want to no… and what am I suppose to do? Simran was his ex-girlfriend and he lied that they were just friends… and matters came till marriage… she was not mad that Simran was close to Jai… it is just hurting her that Jai is hiding something from her… and what exactly he is hiding, she doesn't no…
Bani continued to walk on the deserted street… Suddenly a speeding car came and before she could do anything, it hit her and she felt a searing pain grip her body… Blood poured from her forehead as she lied there on the floor… The first and last thing she could think before her eyes close was 'Jai'…
