Chapter 26

After all the excitement of the staff party, the seventh month ceremony it was taxing on Bani that one night Jai had to rush her to he hospital because she had developed pain and slight bleeding.

Jai: My wife is she O.K.
Doctor: Mr. Walia your wife is fine as of now as she was brought to the hospital on time. But this last stage of pregnancy you have to be very careful. Firstly she is carrying twins and the chances of early delivery is high but it is always best for the baby and the mother to keep the child at least till 36 weeks in her womb. But I don't think Bani will make it up to that point but at least a little more than that she has reached only the 25th week. More over her B.P. is also not showing a good sign. I know your wife leads a busy life but now things will have to take a back seat if you want to see your wife through this pregnancy.
Jai: I will make sure of that. But tell me any cause to worry.
Doctor: Well that depends on how she rests, diet and stress free she is so please make sure of that and I would recommend complete bed rest for the next two weeks than we can do another check up and see how things are progressing.

Jai was relived that Bani was fine and he appointed a home nurse for the day to see to Bani's needs which really pissed her off. But then gave in as jai told her that the family always dances to her tune and he wanted to make sure that when he is in office she is properly taken care off. Or the other option was he stay at home to which Bani said no because she knew if Jai was at home forget getting out of the room for fresh air he will not allow her to step out of the bed. Moreover the doctor had asked them to take things slowly.

The two weeks Bani was there she sat and plotted plans for the family she had asked Adi to start on the Mt Abu project with Jigyasa. Bani had planned to have something like an old age home and a recreational centre for the handicapped children. But before that she wanted to make a memorial for her parents with the photographs of their childhood days and college days. So she had requested Adi uncle to go back to his haveli to get the things she encouraged Adi to take Jigyasa too. But Adi felt that Jigyasa wouldn't come as she was never comfortable with his past due to his relationship with Bani's mother.

Adi: Jigyasa I'm going to the haveli this weekend would you be interested to come along. It would be nice to show you were I spent my boyhood days.
Jigyasa: Do you want me to come.
Adi: Definably or would I ask you.
Jigyasa: No because you have never asked me to accompany you to see the place you grew up all these years so this sudden change.
Adi: I did take you once and you didn't find it very comfortable.
Jigyasa: That was ages ago when we had just got married and no one in your family could accept the fact that you married someone form the city.
Adi: I'm sorry I didn't want to create any uncomfortable situations for you that is why all these years I never took you back there but it's still not too late to go back there. Better late than never.
Jigyasa: Fine when will we leave?
Adi: Was surprised that Jigyasa gave in so easily some things were not adding up here. Or is it just his mind playing tricks on him.

But Adi soon found that after reaching his haveli that Bani had some hand behind Jigyasa coming along with him as she seemed to be extra sweet with his extended family in fact she got them gifts too by discussing it with his mother from Bombay and he wasn't even aware of it. She helped them in the house hold work. What was going on here?
Adi: Jigyasa tell me what are you up to
Jigyasa: I though you would be happy now that I'm the dutiful wife.
Adi: stop it I know you better than those so tell me.
Jigyasa for once in your life can't you take things in a stride. And she walked away.
Adi: Take things in a stride what is happening here

Totally the trip had Adi confused and petrified more over his extended family felt that it was very bad of him not to bring his wife all these years and how lucky Adi's mother was to have such a daughter in law. She even helped with Adi to trace pictures and documents related to Bani's mother and father. Adi confusion made him create some blunder and he had turned in to a joker for the family. On the last day of his stay he had a call from Jai as to know when he would be reaching Bombay.
Adi: I should be there by tomorrow afternoon.
Jai: Good then please come straight to the office I hope Jigyasa wouldn't mind that.
Adi: Mind that with the way she is behaving this weekend I think if I take her to the gallows also she will come with me happily.
Jai: Even when you spoke to Tarun and massi yesterday they were saying something is really wrong with you I didn't believe them but now hearing you over the phone for the past ten minutes I think I have to confirm their opinion.
Adi: Jai just tell me is your wife asleep.
Jai: Yes why and what has Bani got to do with this.
Adi: I swear Jai Bani has to answer for all the blunders I did this week. On second thoughts I should be thanking her for giving the best holiday with my wife.
Jai: Make up your mind and before you get to my wife's neck I will be standing there so cure all the madness because of your nostalgic thoughts. See you then tomorrow and hope by then you are back to your senses.
Adi: If Jigyasa keeps this up in Bombay she can turn you also mad.
Jigyasa: What have I done now? You never seem to appreciate anything I do.
Adi: Jai Good night and bye thanks for calling and making my last night here miserable.

Adi and Jigyasa have their usual bickering but then after a long while she gives in to Adi and tells him about how Bani and she had cooked up all this. Adi said wait till I get my hands on her but Jigysasa was of the opinion that she is one person who brought us close so we owe her a thank you. Adi also realized how Bani had changed their life's not only Jia's.

Meanwhile back in Bombay Tarun was just waiting for Adi to come as handling Bani all alone over the project details for Mt Abu was driving him nuts too and Jai seemed to be so busy with the other office work that he just neglected Tarun. Finally in the evening the day before Adi was to arrive.
Tarun: When will Adi reach tomorrow?
Massi: Why are you so interested in Adi coming back?
Tarun: Or you would find me in a shrink's office in no time.
Jai on hearing this.
Jai: Tarun the specialist is now going to go to a shrink and who has solution for everyone's problem.
Tarun: Well you can credit your wife for that state.
Jai: I swear to God Bani is on complete bed rest and she can't go anywhere and feeling so miserable and all you do sit and pass such remarks about her. You were supposed to be her biggest fan out here.
Tarun: I used to be used being the operative word. Your wife may be on complete bed rest but that mind of hers is still working and the things she can cook up sitting there will have any man begging for mercy.
Jai: You make her sound someone terrible.
Just then Ranveer walks in and comments but it also has advantages why not say that too.
Jai and massi just looked at Ranveer.
Jai: Are we missing something here.
Ranveer: Oh mamaji why do you think Tarun is so frustrated because of Lakshmi.
Massi: What has she got to do with all this?
Ranveer: shall I say or you want to go ahead with it.
Tarun: when you are the know all go ahead and I'm going to have a drink.
Ranveer reveals that Bani had Tarun and Lakshmi, massi's grand daughter work together on the project as Adi uncle is away and soon they can expect a wedding invitation.
Jai to tarun: So you are angry with my wife for matchmaking. If you don't have feelings for her I will get Lakshmi out of the picture for you.
Tarun: Don't you dare do anything of that kind.
Jai: I am here to help you so you like Lakshmi, is that it or …
Tarun: Can't things be left as it is. Do you all have to push and prod? I can understand Bani she is the romantic kind and with her pregnancy she has developed some wildness but then every member seems to be going along with her.
Jai: Hey stop it Tarun you were the one who always supported her.
Anu: also heard all the things happening there
Anu: When the axe falls on your head then you know it. So Tarun how does it feel to be at the receiving end.
Tarun: Do you all have to rub it in.
Jai: Little more of all this nonsense about my Bani then I am going to take her away form here till she has delivered.
Anu: Oh please mamaji this is a home because of her other wise in this house I thought everyone were just like show pieces doing an act.
Everyone what
Anu: Well just look at you all now and how it was one year before and just walks away.

Everyone in the family realizes that Bani had changed their lives unknowingly. Massi's estranged daughter Karuna had come for the Diwali pooja on Bani's instance that everyone of the family should be present for such occasion. Though they don't stay in the same house now she often visits them and Lakshmi, seemed to be getting a little close to massi thought Karuna and massi have a long way to go.

After two weeks Bani went to consult the doctor with Jai and she was happy with her progress Bani had made. She said now Bani could move about a little but no stressful work to be done or it would be back to bed again. Bani just wanted to know if she could attend the calendar launch party as that day was her birthday to and Jai had the celebration organized at the residence itself. Doctor gave an o.k. to that but no taxing up with the arrangements of the party. Even Rano was coming for that party.


Let me see if I can do another update to night as for the next two days I can't do an update.

Chapter 27

Bani was all excited for her birthday party as she went to the temple in the morning and massi had arranged for a pooja there with the pundit ji and then they donated food and clothes for the needy. In the afternoon Rano had come and she had got some lovely music and sweets for Bani as birthday gift.
Rano felt odd among the expensive gifts Bani had received to present hers
Rano: Di I could get only this for the birthday as there was no time to shop I finished my classes late and I had to do a session of extra practical hours to compensate for the leave I have taken to join for the birthday.
Bani: Hey when did you start getting me gifts it was always the other way round I got gifts for you even on my birthday.
Rano: Well this time its different you are the expectant mum. But I have saved up money for a surprise for your babies.
Bani: What now itself into the role of massi.
Rano: What Jiju says is true you are becoming jealous of your kids di.
Bani: Don't make up things I will always be the first for him so no worries in that department.
Rano: Now enough show me the dress you are going to wear for the party Anu said it was a killer dress. To have all the men fall at your feet.

Bani goes to have afternoon nap. Little late in the evening Rano walks into the room thinking that Bani is all alone but she was shocked or rather embarrassed when she saw Jai and Bani together that she excused herself and just turned around running crashing into Anu.
Anu: Rano watch were you are going. What's wrong?
Rano: God this is the second time I am creating this blunder.
Anu: why what happened
Rano: I just walked into di room and Jiju was there.
Anu: So what
Rano: so what How would it look when you enter into the room and you have jiju carrying di out of the tub in just a towel and placing her on the bed kissing her as if nothing else existed in the world.
Anu: I get it you don't have to describe in graphic details.
Rano: Why does this always happen to me.
Anu well you are not the first to be caught in such a situation.
Rano: don't tell me you to walked up on something.
Anu: Well it's some time back in the night I thought jiju was reading story book for Bani as usual and just walked in casually and guess what.
Rano: What.
Anu: you could say I walked into the middle of a good love making session. Which had your Di trying to put her clothes back into place and mamaji yelling at me for not knocking and entering? I don't think anything can be more embarrassing than that.
Rano: can't say that for sure. The first time was worse than that.
Anu: tell me about it this is really interesting.
Rano just closes her eyes.
Rano: I and di had just finished with a swim and I had gone to take a shower in the mean time jiju had come and joined di in the pool. Di had asked me to get towel and robe for her after my shower I was taking it to her and I didn't know jiju was there and didi in the pool was trying to warn that I was there in the shower while jiju didn't believe di and was just kissing her I just wanted to turn around and leave them alone when I noticed that I had closed of the glass door now to escape from there I had to walk right past them to the stairs. God finally I cleared my throat and just passed the towel and robe to di and just ran off from there. Didi was laughing looking at jiju's and my expression. That day I could have taken my di's head off.
Massi hearing them two laugh
Massi: When are you two getting ready for the party sitting and joking all evening?
Anu and Rano together massi ap bhi na we are on our way.

In the party Varun all the models of the present show and the next venture, Mohan his wife, jigyasa's friends business associates pres and all the family members Pushkars family it was on big gathering.

They had a five tier cake and Bani was looking stunning in a shimmering turquoise blue gown which highlighted her features and the jewelry and make up complemented her dress. Everyone was zapped at Bani's look that someone could look so stylish and pretty in the seventh month of the pregnancy.

They couldn't believe it was the same Bani who were reserved and shy. In fact Pia also was present as she had signed the modeling contract with Varun for the next venture of theirs. Bani had come a long way in these moths as Jai walia's wife to a very good Buissness entrepreneur she was highly respected for her quality of work. She had friends young and old. Today Bani didn't feel the in securities of such social gatherings as she had learnt to adjust to them very well and carried off very well.

Tushar came and greeted her on her birthday
Bani: Hey would like to meet those friends of yours.
Tushar knew that Bani was on to something.
Tushar: Why di
Bani: Come on

Bani go to meet them and they stand with respect and says hello mam.
Bani: why does it look like I walked into a college ragging scenario? Come on guys I just wanted to meet up Tushar's friends who said that my husband was a khadoos and how come he got married to such a young girl.
Now tushar's friends were giving him dagger looks and they apologized for the remarks.
Bani: well you don't have to apologize but one thing I could bet on my husband this day to can charm any of the girls better than you all shall we give it a try.
They boys were like no way but hearing her coaxing them up they were in the verge of accepting her challenge and Tushar knew Bani loved to spell trouble and she would look all innocent.
Tushar: Di I think your husband is looking for you.

Bani: He knows where to find me so say what guys you pick the girl or I pick the girl.
Tushar Di uncle is coming this way.
Jai; Bani come I want you to meet someone.
Bani: Just a second so guys any time ready to work up to that challenge let me know.

After Bani goes all of Tushar's friends are giving them a piece of their minds on going and telling her all the rubbish they said.

Tushar: Guys you don't know her. If uncle hadn't come she would have worked you all up to take up that challenge of hers and made you look like fools.
Model 1: how can you be so sure?
Tushar: You don't know about half the racket she does in the office and at home.
Model 2: But people seem to respect her and she doesn't look like the one to play pranks.
Tushar: Don't go by the looks she is one person who likes to win the game by hook or crook. Though not in a devious sense its just the way she is. By the end of the joke you also will be laughing So be aware when she comes up to you.

After the dance number Jai plays the saxophone which has everyone surprised as no one other than the family knew he could play a musical instrument and there was pin drop silence when he said he was playing this for his wife as a birthday gift. The crowd cheered them when after playing the music Jai went and kissed Bani on her hand.

Bani was feeling tired and she was resting in the corner chair away from the crowd when
Pia walks up to her

Pia: Looks like you have hooked Jai up and playing the role of Mrs. Jai Walai quite well.
Bani: Pia I don't know what is the issue here I am happy to be married to Jai and I think I have come a long way form just being Jai walia's wife.
Pia: That you have can't deny the lovely little innocent wife of Jai walia is now talk of the town But just was wondering when all this wares off will Jai be with you.
Bani: You may have doubts about me and Jai but I don't have and I am no more the innocent little one like you said at least I have made a name for my self since we last met what about you are still the same trying to progress your career I heard the deal for which you had left Jai's marriage proposal didn't work out for you. It looks like I made progress were as you are slipping away.
Pia didn't like the retort Bani had given and she was furious that someone like Bani had shown her actual place.
Pia: So you are saying that I am a failure and you have emerged the winner as being Jai walia's wife. What if I say I can still make him turn his head towards me?
Bani: Try as you may but I can guarantee you that Jai would never look at you in the romantic sense.
Pia: Challenging Pia we will see about it. Its not like the silly challenges and games you play with others. You will regret this Bani and moved away from her. Though Pia never made a play for Jai though out the party Bani knew she would play something nasty.

Some how Bani didn't like Pia's threat and she wanted to speak to Jai about this but the next two days Jai was busy and he had to rush to Pine for a day and with all the worrying Bani's B.P. shoot up and today in the afternoon she was asked to stay in the hospital for the night. Hearing this Jai was so worried that he rushed back
Bani was sleeping when Jai walked into the hospital room suddenly she feels the presence of some one
Jai: Bani what is this sweetheart I just move away from you and you fall sick.
Bani: Jai when did you come.
Jai: just now.
Bani: Jai I don't know but of late I am a little apprehensive of this pregnancy do you think everything's alright the doctors did say everything is fine but why do I fall sick now and then and have to rushed to the hospital.
Jai: relax its not good to worry you know that I am here now and everything is going to be alright. So just close your eyes and try to sleep.
Bani: Don't go anywhere just hold my hand till I go off to sleep.
Jai: Better come her you sleep in my arms and goes and holds her close to his chest and rocks her.
Bani: Jai you are sure that everything is fine and the doctors are sure about all the reports.
Jai: Why do you worry so much Bani?
Bani: I have this feeling something bad is going to happen after I met Pia in the party.
Jai: Not again those insecure feelings of yours.
Bani: it's not that. I know that no one can take my place in your life or heart but Jai if I don't make through this promise me you will always be there for the kids and the family and you will not shut down your emotions.
Jai: what the hell are you talking Bani? Holding her face in his hands.
Bani look into my eyes nothing will happen to you and you promised me that I will always find you by my side you can't go anywhere leaving me all alone you get that. So better get well soon and we can go home to the comfort of our bed.
Bani: Jai I remember my promise but not everything is in my hands.
Jai: Enough talking we make our own destinies Bani and I believe in that so Bani you are going to be a fine mother and I know that and you will see your kids grow. You are never leaving Jai walia and going.

Bani could see in Jai's eyes the desperation of a man in love if he ever lost her Bani knew then Jai Walia would never be the same. That made her scared and it also felt great to be loved by some one to eternity.
