Jai watched her leave the room putting her cell phone on the table. He took his cloths in his hand and looked thoughtful. Bani was turning his emotions upside down.
Maasi walked into their room later.
'Maasi….' He looked up.
'Who beta thumhara room tho chamak rahein hein…' she said appreciating the look..
Jai smiled.
Bani ne kaha tha ki thum TV yahan shift kar rahi ho?' she asked sitting down beside him.
Jai noticed his maasi. Her eyes always lit up at the mention of BAni's name.
'han maasi… mein soch raha tha ki……'
'Acha! Tho beta abhi karlo… mein tony se kahthi hoon ki TV yahan le ayyein..'
God! He sweared Nahi maasi…. Mein…'
'Thum ruko beta….' Maasi went out side and called Tony.
In twenty minutes TV and its accessories were in the room. Maasi called bani to the room and she was surprised to see the TV in the room.
'KAisa raha beta? Maasi asked proudly.
Bani looked from Jai to Maasi. He shook his head helplessly. Bani couldn't hold back the smile. She smiled mischievously at him and then turned to maasi. 'aap ko nahin pata maasi ki aapne kya kiya…'
'Achi heina' maasi asked innocently.
'Bahoth …' she said squeezing her hand.
Jigyasa came to inspect the room later. She made faces and left the room throwing a mean face to her.
Bani ignored her conveniently. There was no need to fear her. Bani had made her self understand that. She was any way leaving the house and why not relax a bit before getting out of this mad house .she thought.
She had kept Rano away conveniently.
Bani settled for bed later. She was glad she didn't need to make bed on the floor. Jai was still in his study.
Her phone rang and she picked it up.
'Di….." shrieked Rano.
'Rano kya bath hein? Thum kush lag rahe ho…'
'woh di….. muje do paper mein ache marks milein…'
'very good.. lekin thum hein tho Achi hi marks milti heina…'
'Han di….. phir bhi… acha di… bahoth din hogayee aap ko aur pia ko dekhe huen mein aap logon ko dekhna chathi hoon…'
BAni's eyes filled with tears.
'Di……'
'han rano… I'll come and meet you. Tomorrow I'll come and see you..
'really di……' Rano shouted.
'Han. Muje bahar kuch kaam hein..'
As Bansi was talking to her little sister Jai walked in.
"How are you di…?
'I am fine Rano….' Her throat tightened.
"And you?'
'I am super fine di… do not worry about me.. bye take care….'
'You too…'
A tear fell from her eyes and she wiped it with the back of her hand. She found Jai looking questioningly at her. She went back to her bed pushed away the cushions and made room for her. Jai went to his side of the bed switched on the music and switched of the table lamp.
Bani tossed and turned in her bed. She could sense Jai relaxing a bit around her. If their fate had been different he would have been a good friend and a companion she could ask for. Here they were bound together in an unwanted situation. He no more wanted to continue living with her nor did she. She hated everything about the people around him other then his maasi and dadi. Bani you are being too harsh on others her inner self warned. Okay not all of them Aditya was okay and Jigyasa's children mmmm.Bani thum unlogon ke bare mein soch kar kyon apna deemag karab karthi ho? She warned herself.
Bani drifted off to sleep with her never ending thoughts.
On the other side of the room Jai was with full of confused thoughts. He was getting to like Bani.he had long for given her for Pia's mistakes. He was a raging bull then. He thought nothing other than his anger and humiliation. He recalled the moment he saw Bani standing in the middle of the room clutching sari to her chest. And the mischievous smile she gave him when maasi brought TV to the room. All those moments flashed before his eyes.
He switched of the music system and looked at her side he could hear the slow even breath of her. She had fallen asleep he thought.

Bani was up in the morning all happy and content. She would go and meet Rano and she would post her designs to kanchan. Kanchan had been in the U S and she had come to Delhi.
Jai noticed her. He had been doing that past a week. Noticing her. What was wrong with him?
She looked happy.
Dadi saw her at the break fast table and asked 'Kyon Beta thum bahoth kush lag rahe ho..'
'Han.. mein..'
'Bani kush hein…' Jigyasa interrupted. 'Ab kya kareed ne jaa rahhe ho?' she smirked
Bani ignored her andd Jai did the same.
'Thum hein kaya beemari hein Jigyasa…' dadi sked tired.
'Agar use pata hota tho kya who apni ilaj nahi karthi maa.." Aditya was sarcastic.
Jigyasa ignored her chidren's muffled laughter.
Dadi turned her attention once more at Bani, 'Han beta.. kya bath hein?'
'Main apni bahan se milne jaa rahee hoon..'
'Koun Rano se?'
'Han….'
'Achi bath hein ..lekin thum use yahi leaana beta who achi ladki hein.
Jigyasa rolled her eyes.
'Nahi dadi wo pad rahi hein…'
Abi nahi beta jab unki chutti hogi na thab….'
'Nahi dadi Rano wohi teek hein…..' she didn't look at the woman while talking.
Jai looked away guiltily.
BAni couldn't forget the humiliation she bore when Rano came to stay with them.
Jai had accused her of stealing money to buy Rano a choker.
Bani had taken Rano to buy for her a choker. Rano had once mentioned to bani to get her one. She was not like pia. She never demanded anything for her. Bani had decided to get her one when she had come to stay with her. She took rano out and got her one choker which had cost her 8000rs.
AAnd from Jai's cupboard 10000rs was missing. He had asked every one about the money and Jigyasa had pointed her finger at Bani. Insulted Bani and her sisters. Bani was aghast about her being labled as a thief..
Rano had cried her heart out which made Bani all the more sad. She stilled remembered those harsh words from Jai. "Bani agar thum hein paise chahiye hothi tho pooch leti.. chori chupe lejane ki kya zaroorath thi? She had protested and it went in deaf ears. Later that night Jai walked into the room and stood hesitantly in font of her. 'Bani….. wo paise…'
'aap ko milgaya hoga shayad….. kyon ki meine nahi li…….' Her words had etched in his mind.
'Han….. I am.. so ..sorr..'
Bas mr.Walia… aap log honge oonche mehel ke.. lekin….. bas mein aur kuch nahin kahan chahthi…'
She had dismissed him and walked out of the room to Rano. She had made her understand the situation and decided to take her to the hostel next morning.
Jai had felt all the more guilty when he saw them leave. Jai had felt embarrassed about the situation. Cursed Jigyasa for throwing fuel to the fire. He had stopped insulting Bani then on.

BAni dressed in a beautiful churidar khameez and came down with a file in hand. Jai was reading the paper when she came down the stairs. He saw her at the door he said, 'I'll drop you Bani….'
BAni was surprised. 'Nahi Mr.walia aap ko der ho jayegi….' She hesitated. He looked at the file in her hand.
'' koi bath nahin main bahar he jaa raha hoon.'
She didn't want to trouble any one for her personal work.
'Bani….'
'Ji Mr. walia…. Chaliye….'
They walked to the car and Jai dismissed the driver. He opened the door for her and he got into the drivers seat.
Jigyasa gritted her teeth at the sight.
'Kahan jaana hein? ' he asked looking at her.
'ji muje pehle ek post office jana hein…'
'Post office?'
'Han mein.. who .. muje kuch bejna hein…..'
He was intrigued.
'I am sending few designs to one of my friend….' She saw his confused look and asked. 'I am not making any sense right?'
'No'
'I have made few sketches.. you know dresses….fashion designing to put it precisely… she continued looking at him. I have done a course before but then I left all that due to some family problems….. well forget about all that. She dismissed those painful moments in her life looking directly at him. My friend has a boutique of her own she wanted me to send them so here I am with few sketches.
He looked quietly at her an unidentified emotion crossed his chest.
'Mr.Walia you can drop me here.' She said hurriedly.
He stopped the car. And she got down. With out much of a word he left her on the road.
BAni felt a sense of loss.

Bani is looking out for a job? He asked the question repeatedly. Kyon?
Kyon ka kya mathlab Jai? Asked his inner voice? Thum kya kar rahi ho? Thum tho yahan se ja rahee ho? Is she in your plan Jai? Then why does it bother her looking for a job? Okay .. okay .. let her get the hell out of my life she has been driving me crazy lately unset ho chutkara milega….
Damn.. dman…damn her.. he slammed his wrist on the steering wheel.

BAni left post office and went to meet Rano. She spend few hours with her sister. Rano was excited at seeing Bani. They spend their time talking and laughing about old times. Rano had learned from bani;s conversation that Bnai was upset with Pia. Bani took her leave from her sister and returned back to the Walia mansion. On the way back her taxi broke down.. The time was flying and BAni was getting restless. She came out of the car and asked the driver. 'BHayya kab thak teek hoga…?
'pata nahi madam kya hua hein gadi ko achanak ruk gayi…'
JAldi karo Bhayaa…'
She looked for another taxi and no taxi came by that road. She got restless and she called maasi. She told maasi about her situation. Maasi got worried and asked her to call munna.
'Nahi maasi who office mein busy honge…? She hesitated.
'thumhara demag karab hein beta? Ek pati keliye apni patni se important koi kaam nahin. Thum phon rakkko mein usse kahthi hoon….'
Lekin maasi….'
Maasi had disconnected the call.
Maasi called jai. And told him about Bani.
'Kahan… hein aap ki Bani maasi….' He said trying to control his anger. It was half past eight and he was getting worried.
'who muje nahi pata beta lekin thum use phon kar ke poochlo…'
'Jai fell quite.
'Beta kya hua?'
'who maasi Bani ka number…..'
'Bagwan! Yeh mein kya sun rahahoon' she grimaced and gave him the number.
Jai called Bani immediately.
'Mr.Walia.. she said cautiously.
Thum kahan ho Bani?'
'aap ko thak leef….'
'thum khan ho?'
She could sense his anger she told him the place.
After half an hour Jai's car screeched to halt near her.
The driver looked at the man who emerged from the black merc.
'Bhayya mein jaa rahhe hoon….' She gave him couple of notes and advanced to wards the car. She turned thoughtfully.
'ab aap kaise jayenge?'
'Who tho mein dekhloongi madam aap jaayiye..
Jai shook his head exasperated.
'Main kuch madad karsakhti hoon aapki..' she asked again.
'Han kar sakhti hooona Bani thum dakka tho laga sakthi hoo' Jai said.
Bani ignored his sarcasm. The driver hid a smile.
Thank you madam Ji.. mein mechanic ko bulaloonga.
'Kaise?' she wanted to know.
He pulled the cell phone out of his pocket and waved it at her.
'Ab kush?..' jai caught her hand and propelled her to the car.
oNce in the car she muttered. 'phone tha tho pehle mechanic ko kyon nahi bulaya…'
Inspite of getting annoyed at her, Jai's mouth curved into a smile.
"Mr.Walia I am exteremly sorry to bother you…. Mein kya karthi……'
'Meine thum se koi explanation maanga?' he said not realizing the effect on her.
Bani felt like a blow.
Explanation kyon mangthi? She thought pettishly. Mein koun hoon iska. What does he care whether I come or go….what difference does it make. She was just a nuisance to him and here after she would try not to bother him again. Bani fell quite she looked out of the window stubbornly.
Jai threw a glance at her what had caused her mood to change? Their drive back was in silence which was getting on his nerves. He stopped the car along the road and looked squarely at her.

OH no you cannot stop like this......... 😭
