Jai looked thunderously at the man Bani was talking to. Roahni's eyes followed his gaze biting herr teeth she looked once more at jai. He took a step forward to get Bani and Roshni caught his hand again. Precisely Bani turned her attention to them. Her face fell at the sight.
Bani .. beta….. maasi walked towards her caught her hand and dragged her to Jai.
'thum logone khana nahi liya..' maasi asked Jai.
'Nahi maasi.. mein…'
Bani thum bhi jao beta… maasi shoved them to the buffet table. Roshni watched them leave with contempt.
They moved together to have food. Once seated opposite each other he asked, 'thum kahan chali gayi thi?'
'kahan ka kya mathlab?' she questioned him irritated.
'sawal ka jawab do bani..' he warned.
She looked at him for a second and said sweetly, 'ji kahiyeee'
'ithna bhi sweet hone ki zarrorath nahi…..' he glared at her biting his food.
'sangath ka asar hein ji…. I am also getting the feel of it….' She mocked.
'Kya?' he was confused.
'fakeness ….' She provided.
In spite of his irritation he smiled.
'aap mujse kuch pooch rahi thi…….'
'han.. woh……thum kisise bath kar rahi thi…'
Kyon? She thought.am I detecting jealousy in here? Nahi…. She corrected herself jealousy kyon honge? mein koun hoon inki?
'Bani…..' he called her. Kahan kho jathi hein he thought.
'Blast from the past.' She said looking over his shoulder.
'Excuse me?' he scowled.
'aap ke peeche..' she said looking away.
Roshni hovered from the back of his chair. He looked over his shoulder and his face tightened.
'Jai..' Roshni held his chair and looked at him smiling.
'thum ne khana kha liya mere bagair….'
BAni rolled her eyes.
'Bani go mingle with others I need to talk to Jai…' Roshni said in an authoritative tone.
Bani gritted her teeth.
Bani kahin nahi jayegi..' came the reply.
Bani and roshni looked at him surprised.
'thum yahan rukogi…..'
Bani couldn't believe her ears.
'Jai you are insulting me in front of her…' Roshni said gritting her teeth.
'Bani muje Jai se kuch kahna hein thum zara yahan se challenge….'
'thameez se bath karo Roshni thum..' Jai warned.
How dare she? Bani thought.
Jai cought bani's hand and said thum yahan rukogi….. agar ise kuch kehna hein thumhari samne hi kahein.' He said in no nonsense tone.
Controlling her anger Roshni said, 'thum hein kya hogaya hein Jai..mein janthi hoon thum dono ke beech mein kya rishta hein…..thum muje yeh sab dikhane ki koshish math karna'
BAni detached her hand from his hold.
'poori duniya ko pata hein ki humari beechmein kya hein… she thought heatedly.
BAni liked what he said next to Roshni.
'thum yeh vishwas mein math rahana ki thumhein merii zindagi ke barein mein sab kuch pata hein…'he gritted his teeth.
'Relax Jai..' roshni put her arm around his shoulder.
Mrs.Varma walked towards them with her few guests.
'Kya bath hein thum theeno yahan ho…….' She said exchanging glances with one of the woman.
Bani's nerve clicked. kaise kaise log hein she thought bhina kuch kahein hi sab kuch kah jathi hein..
Pati patni aur woh. Bas bani.. keep your cool koi zaroorath nahin Yeh sab soch kar deemag karab karne ki. People here knew more or less about Jai and Roshni's flings.
Bani was snapped out of her thought when she heard Jai exchange pleasantries. Bani fixed a smile on her lips.
The ladies left them alone and Jai threw Roshni an angry look.
'Jai thum itna gussa kyon ho jathe ho? Roshni asked softening her voice.
Oh! Get away woman. Bani thought, thum hara Jai thumse bath nahi karan chahtha…..
'Bani.. please thum jao yahan se……' roshni turned to her.
Jai looked away not bothering to hold Bani back. Bani pushed back her chair and got up….
Roshni smiled viciously.
'Jai looked at BAni..
'aap log beit kar apni bath liptalo..mein chalthi hoon….' With that she walked away.
BAni did not want unwanted attention on them. It would be better if she stayed away.
She walked around meeting people and exchanging pleasantries. She looked at the table where Jai and Roshni were seated. Those seats were occupied by some other people. Her eyes wandered around for their glimpse. There was no trace of Jai or Roshni.
Later maasi walked up to her and asked for Jai.
'Who yahi kahin hoga maasi….'
'humein abh chalna chahiyein beta.. dadi aur mein bahoth thak cchuki hoon. JIgyasa jane ki naam bhi nahi leti…'
'teek hein maasi.. mein inhe dekhthi hoon.'
Bani walked around the house to find Jai he was nowhere to be seen. As she was about to get back to the hall she heard muffled voices from the adjacent room. The door was ajar. She slowly pushed the door aside.
Her eyes popped out at the sight that greeted her.
She saw Jai and Roshni in the arms of each other. Bani's face drained out of color. She couldn't believe her eyes. She stood staring at them.
Gaining her composer in a moment she knocked on the door. And cleared her throat.
Jai pushed away Roshni from him and stared at BAni who looked disgusted. He cursed his luck.
'er… mr.Walia… maasi kah rahi thi ki use ghar jana hein…'
Finding his voice he said, 'han mein aati hoon.'
'Jai thum abhi nahi ja sakthe…..' roshni said glaring at BAni. He threw her a disgusted look.
BAni moved hurriedly from the door towards maasi who had come to look for them.
They bid their goodbyes to the Varma's and set off to Walia mansion.
Sitting beside him in the car BAni fixed her gaze on the road. Maasi and dadi were discussing about the party and the people they met.
Jai threw her a side way glance. She seemed to be occupied with her own thoughts.
Once in their room getting ready for bed he said, Bani… who .. mein… he cleared his throat.' Jo thum ne dekha who…'
She pushed away the cushions and said straightening up, ' meine aap se koi expalantion nahi managa hein Mr.Walia.' with that she switched off the bed light.
Jai felt like a blow
