Three Year Leap:
Bani rushed around the house frantically trying to find her necklace. She was nervous about the day, she couldn't find anything. Finally, after two hours of running around, Bani finally was ready. She looked at herself in the mirror and didn't recognize herself. Each morning when she woke up, she realized she wasn't the same Bani she was three years ago. Somewhere along the way, Bani had changed from a trusting Bani to one who was pretty practical about the way of life. The decision she had made at this point reflected her current practicality of mind.
Bani turned around just in time to see a young girl walk into the room and give her a flower.
Riya: Mommy, here you go.
Bani: Oh sweetie, how sweet of you. Are you ready to go?
Riya: Yes mommy, is Tarun uncle going to live with us after this?
Bani: Not yet honey. Today is only engagement. Tarun uncle will live with us after the wedding takes place.
Bani took Riya's hand and led her outside where the entire party was organized. She walked up to Tarun and gave him a quick hug. She looked around and saw Rano and Sahil come in with Maasi and Dadi. They all were glad that Bani was finally moving on. Tarun's dad came and gave them blessing.
Bani: Uncle, where is Aunty? (Uncle= Tarun's dad and Aunty = Tarun's Mom)
Uncle: Beta, she is coming, there you see herâŚ.
Bani turned and saw her on a wheelchair. She was sick and she wanted her son settled before she passed away. The doctors had told her she had less then 2 months left. Tarun had told the story to Bani and later on asked her hand for marriage but it will be under a contract for a few months. It was also good for Bani because she needed Riya to get some male influence.
Maasi and Dadi came to bless Tarun and Bani. They were glad she was moving on, they did not know the real reason behind this marriage. Bani had kept this relationship with Maasi, Dadi, Rano, Sahil, and Raashi a secret. Mr. Walia, wherever he was did not know where she was. And Bani refused to let anyone in the family tell her anything about him. Whenever the topic of him would come up, she would leave the room and after a while they stopped trying. They had told Jai that they were going to a friend's wedding in Delhi (that is where Bani lived now) but they never told him who this friend was. They asked him to come but he said he did not want to go to a wedding but came with them to Delhi because he had to attend official meetings.
Within minutes the ring ceremony started and Tarun and Bani got engaged in a fashionable manner. Riya hugged both Bani and Tarun and quickly went back to playing with Rano and Sahil's cute son, Akshay.
On the other side, Jai sat in his room alone flipping through channels with a drink his in hands. He wasn't really paying attention to what was coming rather lost in his own thoughts. He had made several mistakes in his life but one left a solid mark in his heart. He remember Maasi's line "You will regret this Jai. You remember my words. You will." And it was like a curse. It followed him wherever he went. If he went for an office meeting, he saw Bani's face in all of them. He could still smell her in their room. He could not sleep in their bed without her. It was a big mistake and he wished he could take it back but he knew he couldn't.
Jai kept on flipping through a channel and accidently went past a channel with Bani and Tarun. It did not hit him until 2 seconds later when he went back to the channel and looked at the party. The headline was "One of the best lawyers in the country engages today with a long time friend."
It went into details about how they had been friends for three years and now were getting married in a month. Then they showed a picture of Bani smiling for the camera. Jai noticed the change in her. The innocence and the freshness of her face was missing, it seemed more mechanical now. It was not his Bani that was getting engaged now but someone else. The camera then showed Maasi and Dadi and Jai realized what engagement they had come here for. They had left him an address. He grabbed his keys and took the address and went out the door to confront his past. He thought about how long he had searched for her but this entire time his family knew and they didn't tell him⌠well he probably deserved itâŚ
What will happen at the party? Will Jai confront Bani? How will Jai react to Riya? Will the wedding still take place?
