Part 8:


Vijay: Bring me another drink!
Bartender: ok, chill. You don't have to yell at me (goes to get another drink)

Vijay is completely drunk and torn up. The scene when he saw bani with Jai walia keeps replaying in his head. There is pure anger in his eyes. He spins his stool away from the counter and leans his shoulders onto it. "…but I don't love you," bani said, rings in his head. He covers his hears with his hands, in frustration. "no!," he yells. Everyone stops doing what they're doing, and their attention goes to drunk Vijay. The bartender comes back with a drink and hands it to Vijay. Vijay gulps it down and wipes his mouth on his sleeve. "oh, jai! Stop it! (bani giggles flirtishly)", he remembers her saying to jai while the two were walking on the sidewalk. Bani did not know, but he had seen them together and followed them out. Vijay throws the glass cup to the floor and steps over it. He leaves a shouting Bartender saying "You have to pay for that!!!"

Dadi: jai, putar? You're still up? (walking into the living room, joining jai)
Jai: ji, dadi. I couldn't go to sleep.
Dadi: it's past midnight. Come on and go to sleep.
Jai: I just can't, dadi.
Dadi: (tries to read his face) ….ok. Who is she?
Jai: (stunned) …what?
Dadi: whose the girl that has kept you thinking about her this late at night?
Jai: (nervous) I don't know what you're talking about. And why do you assume that it's about a girl?
Dadi: don't try to hide it away from me, putar. I know you too well. Now hurry up and tell me who she is.
Jai: (laughs) you're right, dadi. You do know me too well.

Jai is about to tell dadi about bani, but is interrupted by a harsh knock. Jai looks back at dadi with a confused look.

Jai: who could it be, and this late?
Dadi: well, go open it and you'll find out.

Jai gets out of his seat and walks over to the door. He opens the door and sees a familiar face from this morning. He is still wearing the same clothes, his hair covering his face, and he seems very drunk.

Jai: …Vijay?
Vijay: (amused) oh, so you know me?
Jai: (silent)

Vijay lets himself come in. Dadi stands up looking very confused. Jai is a bit taken aback from the rude entry of Vijay.

Vijay: well, if you know me. Then you must know that I am deeply in love with Bani. And that Bani is only mine. (he points to himself)
Jai: (puts his hand down) Vijay, …you should go home. You are drunk, if you want to talk, we'll talk later.
Vijay: no, I want to talk right now! And you are going to listen to me!
Jai: (sighs) ok, fine. Go ahead, I'm listening. (crosses his arms across his chest)
Vijay: I saw you with her, …with my bani. At the coffee shop,… you two flirting like crazy with another. Do you know how much that hurts to see the woman you love, with another man?
Jai: (silent)
Vijay: no,…you don't do you?
Jai: (still silent)

Dadi walks up to Vijay.

Dadi: why are you here and what do you want?
Vijay: (points at jai in anger) I want him to stay away from MY bani. Did you hear me, Mr. Jai Walia? Bani is off limits, because she belongs only to me!
Jai: (annoyed) how can she belong to you? She doesn't even love you?
Vijay: Shut up!
Jai: Bani told me about you, …and how much you love her. And I want to ask you a question. Why are you wasting your life, chasing after a person who doesn't even love you? …Get it through your thick head! Bani doesn't love you!
Vijay: (grabs jai's shirt) I'll kill you!

Bani wakes up from the doorbell ringing. She waits for either bhabi or suraj bhaiya to go open the door, but none of them wake up. Bani gets out of bed and sleepily goes to the door. She opens it, and is shocked to see Jai at the door. She blinks her eyes to see if her eyes are deceiving her. Nope, he's still in front of her.

Bani: (whispers) jai? …what are you doing here? And this late?
Jai: I'll explain everything later, just help me get Vijay into the house.
Bani: Vijay?
Jai: yeah, he's in my car.
Bani: what? What is he doing in there?
Jai: just come on and help me, I'll tell you in a second.

Bani gets out of the house and walks towards the car with jai. Jai opens the backdoor and bani sees Vijay lying on the seats, unconscious. Jai takes one of Vijay's arms and brings it about on his shoulder. He pulls him out. Bani takes Vijay's other arm and puts it around her shoulder also. Bani and jai take him inside and lay him down onto the couch. Vijay moves a little and then moans "bani…". Bani looks at jai, giving him a "what happened?" look. Jai narrates the whole scene to a tired bani. Bani looks at jai with gratitude and places her hand over jai's.

Bani: I'm so sorry.
Jai: no, bani. You shouldn't be saying sorry, you didn't do anything.
Bani: (sighs) I don't know what I'm gonna do about Vijay.
Jai: everything will be ok. He just needs sometime. You don't expect him to forget you in an instant. I mean, this guy does truly love you. Be easy on him.
Bani: (smiles and nods her head) …thank you so much for everything.
Jai: no problem. (gets up)
Jai: I should be going now.

Bani follows jai to the door.

Jai: oh, are we still on for dinner?
Bani: ..yeah, of course.
Jai: (grins at her) great. I'll see you at 8:00.

Jai takes bani's hand in his and kisses it gently. Bani smiles to herself, while blushing like crazy. Jai slowly lets go of bani's hand and walks down the driveway. She crosses her arms across her chest and leans against the side of the door, watching jai walk to his car. Before getting into the car, Jai gives bani one last adorable smile of his. Bani touches her right hand, which jai had kissed. Jai's kiss had left an after feeling. Bani smiles to herself and walks back into the house.
