Next Morning

Bani woke up nice and warm in the arms of the man she loved….

The song in the background…

Kya yahi pyar hai
Ha yahi pyar hai
Ho din tere bin kahi katna nahi…
Raath guzarti nahi….

Bani looked at him….to find Jai deep in sleep…..it was a beautiful mrng…and for the first time in many days Bani felt good…she decided she was going to take a walk…she very quietly got herself out of bed putting a pillow in her place and wrapped a shawl around her….it was quite chilly in the mrngs her but very beautiful…..especially the sunrise…..the sun was almost out…..with that she set off…

The greenery just took her breath away…she felt like flying…it was absolutely beautiful…she saw far across on the fields men already working…it was just so nice…she made the way to the lake and sat on one of the benches….Bani thinking to herself….kitni khoobsurat hai yeh jagha…so peaceful and quiet…kitna aaram aur shanty hai….she took a huge sigh….

In her mind the song kept going

Kya yahi pyar hai!!!! …why was love so confusing…..she thought.....

Jai got up and immediately felt no Bani next to him…all of a sudden he was wide awake…he checked the time and it was 8.30am…damn meh kiu subha nahi jag pata hu
Just than he also remembered that chachi wasn't in today….he made his way to the window…and observed Bani next to the lake…playing with butterflies…how innocent..he smiled and went to get ready ....

Bani and Jai had many great days at Palan Kheth….most of their days were spent sight seeing and nights were enjoying the mela that was mostly near the roadsides…..near the huge bon fire…..Bani seemed to be faninated with the Banjarans and their dancing and singings….there was so much sadness in their voice..yet a determination…she loved it...she felt they are singing her love story out....

Jai had kept his distance from Bani in the physical sense…he had not tried to push himself on Bani and just had not encouraged any sort of behaviour that would coz Bani any discomfort…the occasional holding her shoulder to keep her warm or the hands....eventhuogh this was killing Jai inside but he wantd everything to go perfect this time….the only times Jai did anything was when he slept…..in his subconscious sleep he held Bani very close to him….every mrng they would wake up entwined with each other and Jai would have a happy guilty look on his face…Bani red, flushed and embarrassed……

he remembered one of those mrngs when Bani had her arms around his neck craddling him as a baby and whe she had woken up she had those confused look in her eyes later realising that she was the one holding Jai and not him....a very embarrassed Bani had to let Jai go and had to apologise ...he still smiled whenever he thought of that moment

Bani: all red and embarrssed..im sorry woh neend meh

JAi: full smiles trying to control his laughter...its okay.....its okay bani....smiling and making his way to the bathroom leaving a flushed Bani in bed not knowing what was happening.....even she had smiled and looked down...

Bani was having a good time too…he could tell…she was smiling more these days and was more cormfortable with Jai when they were together….a few times she would refrain from any conversation and would just not respond to Jai but those times were becoming less by the days…..

Slowly days turned into weeks and they had only 1 week left to go hom...Bani didnt want it to end and wished time to stop....everything was finally looking normal for her....…..

One afternoon…one of the villages approached the house requesting Jai's help on a land slide that had occurred and had some men stuck in that area…..jai willingly went to help and Bani was at home …
It was past midnight and Jai had not returned…this was getting on Bani's nerves….

Bani to herself..: ghar par business aur yaha par yeh log….kabhi naa kehna nahi ata hai!!! A furious angry mrs Walia was walking in her room like crazy…she just couldn't sleep and was worried sick

Yeh kya BAni she thought…why are you even thinking this…yeh kya horaha hai tumko….kiu itna chinta ho rahi hai……akhir yeh kya hai….

The song in the background…the famous…jiya dhark jiya dharak …all the sweet moments decided to come infront of her eyes now…..but all this was from their holiday…how Jai would cover her up with his coat when she was cold….or steady her when she would trip on something….or make sure she was drinking hot coffee to keep warm…and sweetly Bani smiled…..tears in her eyes…she fell on the chair next to the window…..it had startd to rain a little…..and Bani seemed to be lost with the rain…..the pain slowly subsiding by the mere few good moments shared between her and Jai…..oh Jai!!! Meh tumse itna pyar kaise karsakti hu…..but i do...i love you..i love you so much...please ghar ajao ..mujhe tumse kehna...i cant wait any longer

The rain started to get heavy and looked like a storm was coming up slowly.....Bani was so scared …not for herself but for the man she loved who was all alone out there in this weather…...she ran downstairs…..

Bani: bhadur >????? Bhadur????...shaab aye kya???

Watchman: nahi memsaab…woh toh nahi aye…aap andar chale jaiye….mausam kharab hone ki news aihai aur bijli bhi ho sakti hai….shab ayege toh hum aapko batadu ga!!

Bani; kya tumhe pata hai woh landslide kaha hui hai

Watchman: ha madam yaha se kuch 10 kilometer ke duri par…kiu?

Bani: kya mujhe lejasakte ho

Watchman: nahi madam….saabhi driver jajuke hai aur saab ne kaha ke aap ghar par hi rahe…aap under jaiyiye ..meh khabar karta hai..shyad mausam ke kharab honese woh waha ruk gaye hai…!!

Bani: listening to that got some relief…maybe that's the case…but he could atleast call she thought…shayad phone nahi chalraha hoga waha par

It was almost close to 1am when Bani went inside….sitting on the sofa with the blanket around her she slowly dozed of to sleep….

At around some 4am…the shrill sound of the phone went up in the entire haweli….Bani heard it but very faintly she was trying to dismiss it from her thoughts….2nd ring …..3rd ring and Bani almost ran to the phone..almost falling....she was deep in sleep and now very much awake....thinking its Jai

Bani: (gasping) heelooo??

Nothing

Bani: hello?? Kaun hai??? Mr Walia??..Mr Walia aap kaha hai...aap theek to hai??

Faint voice on the other side: Mrs Walia?? The line wasn't clear at all…….Mrs Walia??

Bani: hello…haa meh…meh Mrs Walia hi hu..aap kaun???

She was scared now….she couldn't hear anything …looking at the clock she realized it was 4 am…Mr Walia kaha hai??

Voice:Mr Waa…break….accident……save……camp site……barish…..than the phone went dead

Bani: kept pressing the phone…hello hello…crying now..almost hysteria catching in her voice…hello ….kya hua Mr Walia ko??...kya hua??.....

Bani: screamed like she never had before…hey bhagwaan yeh kya hua…Mr Walia kisi accident meh hogaye….barish ke waja se….........nahi….meh unke beggar kya karugi..nahiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii…..Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii???? and collapsed on the floor….
