Bani hurried downstairs?her feet scuffing in a frenzy?a pooja had been organized by maasi before Anu's much awaited engagement?and as predictable as it was she was being entrusted upon the responsibility of planning and overlooking everything perfectly?she sighed as she ordered the flowers to be kept near the small temple? though she respected and loved maasi a lot, but as each day passed she felt guilty of betraying her trust?her marriage to Jai Walia was nothing but a burlesque farce, quite skillfully enacted by them?it was painful to live with a person whom you love dearly and still not be able to confess those beautiful feelings to the beloved, she categorically knew that those feelings will never ever be reciprocated? she would never be able to match up with the mighty Jai Walia, who had everything possible, money, fame, stature, good looks, character, intelligence, charm, sophistication, living somewhere among the clouds?while she, was grounded, who despite her pure character and goodness never got love in return? if seen practically then the air-headed pia was no match to him, but at least she had gorgeous, ravishing looks to steal any man's heart? arranging the things required for the pooja, she glanced towards the breakfast table, everybody was seated and having breakfast, her eyes stopped at the one person who mattered the most to her? he was quiet as always and nibbling his toast, and sipping the orange juice?casually nodding his head as Roshni, his ex-flame went on with her rambling?

"Serve me on paratha?Tony?" jai asked, feeling bored by the same breakfast everyday?bani panicked, trying to catch Tony's eyes to indicate not to do the same?

"Er?Sir?bani madam has strictly ordered not to serve anything oily to you?your cholesterol?" tony said a bit unsurely?stumping jai?roshni giggled?

"Really, jai?I pity you?you have to listen to that girl?" roshni said?jai chose to ignore her, not wanting to snub her, ruining his morning?

"Okay Tony?" he said, well he had started exercising regularly so, he was back to being fit?bani breathed a sigh of relief?continuing with her work?

She was engrossed in her job, cleaning the idols of Gods; placing them properly? when she saw a glass pop in front of her? she looked up confused to see her husband bending over her?

"Why didn't you have breakfast????" he asked?shoving the glass of juice towards her?

"I?I was caught up in work?" she managed to mumble?

"You have time to take care of everybody except yourself?" he stated?rendering her speechless?

"Now?have it?why are you looking at me like that???" he said hastily?she gulped down in a go, scared at the way he was starting down at her?

"Good?see you then?bye?" he said pleasantly?leaving? she gaped at his retreating back?in complete disbelief? yes, she had seen the change in her husband since a few days, he was now more polite and gentlemanly as he had had been when they had met, but gone was that cold exterior which gave her jitters but it was now replaced by a warm friendliness which made her fall in love with him all over again?she at times pitied herself?she was so irrecoverable in love with him that it was impossible to move on after they parted away? at least for her, time would be frozen forever? though a believer and an optimist but she knew she will spend the rest of her life living in the past?which had bitter-sweet memories of her first and last love? ?

Jai hardly paid any attention to Roshni who was animatedly speaking about every possible thing under the earth? his thoughts were still clouded with his gesture today morning? he had seen bani dutifully doing her job, to the extent of missing her food?Why did have to do it every time??? He wondered with amazement?but that was her inherent beauty?even when it wasn't required she did it with all her heart and soul? her image floated in front of him like a gentle breeze? he suddenly realized how important she had become in his life, What would he do once she leaves??? That thought unnerved him? somehow his latent admiration for her was turning into something else? he was getting drawn to her, he knew but was fearful to even tell himself?he wanted her but not in a fickle way in which her liked roshni or pia but in a more deeper, profound way?

"Jaii?" roshni nudged him?

"Huh!!!"

"Where were you lost????"

"No nothing?" he said with a smile playing on his lips?

"Mr. Walia?jaldi taiyyar ho jaiye?pooja shuru ho jayegi?" bani said laying out a simple off-white kurta pajama for him?

"One minute?" he said reading the file which he had brought back home since he couldn't read even a single line all day?

"Mr. Walia?enough now?" she almost snatched the file from his hand? abruptly realizing what she had done, she stood still not breathing?

"Sorry?" she handed him the file?surprised at seeing him chuckle?

"Jaa rahaa hoon?" he said, thinking how cute she looked in the green sari she was draped in? picking up his clothes he went inside the bathroom?coming out a few minutes later?

"Happy?" he said eyeing her, as he proceeded to comb his hair?

"I am going down?" she said, blushing at how he was looking at her through the mirror? ?

"Wait?we will go together?" he said, pacing towards her in his usual strides? holding her by her delicate waist?he smiled as he felt her body tighten?

"Aren't we getting late now?" he said as she stood rooted to her spot?people drew sharp breaths as they saw the handsome couple descend down the stairs?

Bani jumped a bit as she felt something caress her open back?it was a low cut blouse, exposing most part of her back?

"Kya hua di?" rano asked as she saw her sister, bending backwards, fidgeting her hands at her back?

"I felt something?" bani said tensing up?

"Di?let me see?" rano moved to find nothing?

"Kuch keeda hoga?" bani said muddled up?the sensation was so strong as if someone's hand was stroking her?

"Di its nothing?" rano affirmed her?before bani could ponder more she was summoned by maasi to distribute the Prasad?jai walia leaned against the pillar with a satisfied grin plastered all over his face? he held himself from laughing aloud when he saw his wife jumping on her feet, frightened? she looked like a school going girl, squealing? "Keeda?" he grinned more feeling the softness of her skin under his fingers? ?he noted her going towards the kitchen?he simply slipped away, not even bothering to answer aditya to where he was going?

Bani filled the plate with more sweet? and was about to leave when she felt pair of hands grab her wait? pinning her against the wall?she was about to scream loudly?when she stopped midway seeing jai smiling at her mysteriously?

"You look really pretty?" he said, coolly brushing his lips against her cheek?as she stood helplessly in his arms, her hands raised in air holding the plate tightly?

"Aap?yeh?" she flustered?he seemed to be in no mood to leave, tucking a strand of hair behind her earlobe? she turned serious, looking at him with a broken, hurt expression? Why was he doing all this??? Was this also pretence???

"Why are you doing this???? You?must be with roshni?" she blurted?biting the inner wall of her mouth as she saw his face darken?

"You love her?don't you???" she asked?feeling the warmth of his hands releasing her?he looked at her with silent, painful eyes?

"This is it?Do you think I can break the sanctity of this marriage, even though it is just a facade?" he asked in a forlorn voice?stirring her heart? she remained silent, averting her gaze from him, holding back her tears?

"I never loved her?I though it did but I was wrong?" he left before she could say anything? the rest of the evening she couldn't find him?and she didn't have the courage to disturb him as she knew he would be locked up in his study? ?

The next few days flew in a flurry, she was too busy doing things for the engagement?and the same time wallowing in self-pity at how she hurt her husband? but she couldn't help it? she wanted him desperately but not in bits and pieces or as remnants of his past? she wanted him completely, with love and every other emotion he possessed?not just because she was his official wife and he her husband?he had been nonchalantly ignoring her?which was becoming unbearable for her? ?

"Beta?call jai?Where is he? it's getting late?we should leave for the venue?" maasi said catching bani who intrusting the drivers to take the remaining things which were required? before she could say anything, their eyes fell on jai walking in, looking morose and grumpy?

"Munna?come get ready?we have to leave?I am going?you and bahu come together okay?" she said, leaving them behind, who did nothing expect stare at each other blankly? ? jai left before she could open her mouth to apologize?

He looked dashing in the all black ensemble while she radiated, looking angelic in a white and pink combination sari, her hair made up in a chignon coiffured with white roses? she struggled to put her seat belt?her fingers faltering akin to the emotions raging within her? she sat like a limp?as he leaned over her, putting the seat-belt?

"I am sorry?" she breathed as soon as he resumed his position, starting the car? without saying anything he drove rashly, maneuvering the stylish BMW?

"I didn't mean to hurt you or anything?I thought you liked Roshni?she wants you back?"

"I don't like her?" he said in a thick voice?

"Can't you forget it???" she asked meekly?

"Leave it?" he said with a toss of his head?

"Please don't be angry anymore?" she said?

"I am not?" he defended himself?

"You are angry?"

"I am not?why would I be????"he said a bit irritated? ?

"Because? I?" she didn't know what to say, how to say? she remained mute?

"Banii?" he called out to her after sometime?halting the car before the entrance of the venue?he came out quickly?going to her side, opening the door for her?she came out with a bowed head?looking lost?

"Bani?" he held her wrist?

"Can't we give this a marriage a chance??"he asked sincerely?she looked up shocked?her throat dried?she stood dumbly nodding her head? she smiled as he broke into a wide smile?

"Shall we go inside Mrs. Bani Jai Walia??" he outstretched his elbow?she interlinked her arm with his elbow, shyly? ?

Bani felt butterflies in her stomach as he held her close, his palm, resting against her bare back? caressing it mildly?as they danced

"You look stunning?" he whispered close to her ear? making her blush deeply? even she felt like she was flying but the seeds of doubt cropped up in her head? Did he love her??? Will he be able to love her??? Or he was just being genuinely nice trying to work things out??? Was it pity, sympathy or empathy????"

"Can I ask you something????" she asked hesitantly?

"Hmmm?" he said enjoying himself?

"Do you?I mean?can you love me?????" she asked, suddenly he stilled, they stood, no more moving to the beats?she could clearly read the unsolved puzzle in his eyes?before he could form an answer and reply aditya intervened asking bani for a dance, making most of the opportunity roshni grabbed jai, forcefully making him dance with her?

As their eyes slithered around each other, bani could say he was reeling under the same question? she knew it was difficult for him, being betrayed by two women, any man would be shattered?but she didn't want to settle for less? not anymore? she didn't want to compromise? it would be unfair to him, unfair to her and unfair to their impending relationship? ? she saw his eyes bore into her as now pushkar twirled her around much to his dismay? her passive eyes didn't display anything more than withheld tears and anticipation? she felt crumpled from inside as she saw him storm away from the hall? ?

Jai sat in the darkness of the room?bani's one simple question had left him pared? he liked her, admired her, respected her?but was that enough?and love?After his saddening and brutal past would he be able to trust her completely, loose himself in her, love her truly?she deserved nothing less but would he be able to give her all that?did he have that strength within him to take the risk? but somewhere he knew bani would never ever break his trust? But love?the world revolved around in his head? before he could even decipher it, he had fallen in love with her long ago?a love which was more strong than any of the feelings he felt for anyone till now?

"Mr. Walia?why?did you leave????" he heard bani's concerned voice?

"Ask me again?" he said getting up?

"What????" she kept looking at him?as he walked towards her in slow steps?

"If I can love you????" he said?holding her shoulders lightly?

"I?" she couldn't say anything?

"I do?I love you?truly, deeply, madly?" he said without any restraint? without any barrier, without the shadows of the past which were lost into oblivion? she cried out not able to control herself anymore?throwing her arms around him, she hugged her tightly?as if her life depended on him?indeed it did?

She took a deep breath as she felt his shouldering kisses graze her skin in delight?his fingers touching her intimately?

"I don't want to rush?" he whispered hoarsely near her ear?she half-opened her eyes?

"Haven't we waited enough?" she replied back? her hand gripping his shoulder? there was room for any doubts?he cupped her face, kissing her lips?

"Aap?" bani hit his arm lightly? still blushing like hell?

"Why did you?say like that?" she asked...making him laugh?

"So that she never irritates me again?" he said pulling her even closer? playing with her silky hair?

"Banii?" he said in a soft voice?

"Hmm?"

"You will never leave me na???" he asked sounding like a desperate child who needed assurance that he was safe and that there was no need to fear anything? she shook her head in denial vigorously? ?

"Never?ever?" she said falling over him, only able to reach till his chest?he felt her body shaking with her soft cries? as he hugged her to himself?

"I wanted it to be perfect?but?" he mumbled?rocking her in his secure arms?he felt blissfully complete?

"It was perfect?" she whispered shyly looking up at him?

"I love you?" that was all was required to be said and heard? ?
