Jai feels more than friendship for Bani.And the way Bani is jealous of Pia looks like she too is in love. Both are going to against each other because of their priorities. What will happen to their relationship then?

A few weeks later...

Jai read the notice...it was sent by bani, on behalf of 'Basera'... the last notice... to settle it on mutual grounds...they had practically not spoken since the day after bani's Farwell party... he had tried calling her few times but she didn't pick up, was she really busy or avoiding him, he couldn't understand... And the worst thing was he couldn't understand himself...

"I have sent the reply back jai...that it is not possible and we will be buying out the land by the end of this month..." pia informed him...

"Hmm..." he replied carelessly...

"Jai...what happened..." pia enquired getting up; reaching him...he roughly shoved her away...

"Please pia...I am fine..." jai said rashly...

"Fine..." pia stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind her....

"OOohhh...quite a hot-tempered lady... "uday's voice crackled in jai's unusually silent cabin...jai didn't reply...pretending to read the file...

"The project details have been finalized, once we get the land we can start the work..." jai muttered...

"Congratulations...!!!!" uday said seating himself in the leather chair...looking around, he never came inside jai's cabin...

"Nice cabin jai...bani designed it...isn't it... "uday said looking at jai whose head shot up hearing bani's name...

"So..."

"So...nothing...I just said it as a matter of fact..."

"Paa...please I am busy right now..."

"Ya!!! Reading the annual report of last year...I can see how much you are working..." uday said eyeing him funnily...jai looked embarrassed; throwing away the file...he sat idly...

"Are you happy jai...???" uday asked suddenly...

"Paa...what kind of a question that is...yes I am happy...everything is going great..."

"Then why can't I feel the happiness....why do I see the vacant eyes of my son in a constant search...."

"Paa...please...it's nothing...I am happy, work is great, I am trying to get serious about life..."

"Life is strange jai...very strange...it is only when we loose something do we realize it's worth jai... don't take too long to realize that...my son...somethings are greater than this money... this project..." saying uday left...

Jai stood at a distance, with his hands firmly in his pocket...they had finally bought the land, and they were going to demolish the old age home, all the aged people came to him and were literally begging him to stop the inhuman act...but his eyes searched for bani... where was she...

"Where is bani beta...?" he heard one of them speak to the manager...

"She is driving down..." the manager informed...

"Sir, shall we start..." the engineer came and asked him...

"Wait...I have to tell something...."

"I need to say something..." jai raised his voice, everyone stood in rapt attention...as he spoke....

Bani...looked around...praying desperately...some bus strike had broken out in Kalamboli... and the road was blocked with the drivers protesting violently...they were almost destructing things and burning the buses...her car was stranded in the middle...she tried to get out of the car but a stone came pelting breaking one of the window panes...she let out a scream...not knowing what to do she picked her mobile...

"Jaaiii...jai...I am struck in kalamboli... some strike has broken out...jai...can you listen...please stop the demolishment jaii..."

"Bani what happened...banii..." before he could say anything...a loud scream reverberated...

His eyes welled up, his heart-beat riding at a miles rate as he rushed through the ugly ruckus; the police had come out trying to manage the berserk people...

"BANIII" he shouted on top of his voice...searching everywhere...when he located her car... to his horror he say her lying in her seat, blood oozing out of her head...somebody had hit her head severely...bani was heaving in pain...

"Banii...bani get up...bani..." jai held her face...trying to open her eyes...

"Jaii..." bani breathed...

"Jai...stop the demolition...basera..." bani caught her breath....

"Hanan haan...nothing will happen to basera... "he picked her up... taking out his kerchief he pressed it on the wound on her head...

"Shankar gaadi lao idhar..." he shouted across to his driver... bani held onto him, crying copiously...

"I am dying jai... I am dying..." bani cried out looking at him...

"Shut up bani...nothing will happen to you...you will be fine..." jai's voice shook as he got inside the car, cradling her...

"Jaldi chalo... " he screamed...who reversed the car to the nearest hospital...

"Dard ho raha hain jai...bohot dard...main mar jaaongi na..." bani cried...

"Nahin nahin bani...kuch nahin hoga..." hugged her tightly in his arm, pressing the cloth to stop the blood flow...

"Naahhin...meri friend thi...uske sir pe laga tha...aur woh mar gayiii..." bani said holding to his blood stained shirt...

"Just shut up bani...shankar jaldi chal na..." jai cried out...bani wriggled in his arms...taking deep breaths...

"Bani stay with me...bani..." jai held her securely...

"Agar main zinda hoti na...kabhi...nahin kehti...ab marr rahin hoon naa..." bani lifted her blood-painted palm, placing it on his cheek lovingly...

"Shut up bani...nothing will happen..."

"Nahin...I know...bol hi deti hoon...hasonge ya chidaoge nahin na..." bani asked seriously...

"Nahin...nahin..."

"Tum...mujhe...BOHOTT Pasand ho...BOHOT..."bani said smiling through her tears...as the thick blood trickled down the sides of her face...

"Jab tum raat ko mujhe Mt. Abu leke gaye the meri uncle ki death par...aur bas mere paas baithe the...tumhe toh yeh bhi nahin pata tha ki console kaise karte hain...it was then...I fell for you...idiot..." bani chuckled...

"And whenever you called me fruitcake...I just loved it...say it jai...say it again..." she wrapped her arm around his neck...wailing...tears fell from his eyes...

"Fruitcake...fruitcake..." his choked...

"IDIOT...I LOVEE...YOuu....I love you...a LOTT....ahhh..." a sharp spasm ran through her head...

"I am dying jai...I am dying..."

"Sahnkar jaldi karrr..." jai hugged bani to himself...the car halted in front of the Gandhi Hospital in Panvel...

He carried her out...placing her on the stretcher...

"Bani...don't close your eyes...bani see...hospital agayaa...nothing will happen to you..." jai patted her cheek, trying to keep her awake, as her drowsy eyes were drooping...

"Someone call the doctor please..." jai huddled through the corridor...

"Please call the doctor... " he yelled at the receptionist...

"Sir...fill up these...formalities..." the receptionist said...

"What the F**K...she is bleeding...please call the doctor and get her treated damnit..." he vehemently cried out...

"Patient's name...sir..."

"BANI DIXIT!!!"

"YOUR relation..."

"SHE IS MY WIFE!!!" bani's eyes opened...she stared at jai who was busy arguing with the receptionist... she fell back unconscious...

Jai sat on the bench...tears flowing down his face...as the doctors operated on bani...

"Jai..." uday came and sat beside him...jai quickly turned the other side, wiping his tears...

"Yes paa..." he said trying to sound as normal as possible... uday glanced at his son...he had rushed immediately when Shankar called him and told everything...

"I brought you up with all the comforts, I never let even a tear form in your eyes, it was only when Krishna died that you cried...but after so many years...I feel nice to see you cry again...to cry for the woman whom you love so deeply...it took you so much to realize that love..." uday said placing a hand on his son's shoulder... jai broke down...hugging his father, sobbing...

"Nothing will happen to her na paa...she will be fine na...."

"Yes son...she will be fine...she has to be..." uday patted his back...

Bani leaned back as the nurse helped her to sit up...her face lit up as she saw the entire room filled with flower bouquets...all the people from basera were looking at her curiously...

"Keshu uncle..." she whispered... keshu came to her side immediately...

"Beta...how are you...you scared us all..." he said patting her bandaged head lightly...

"I am sorry...I couldn't save Basera..." bani said remorsefully...

"Nahin beta...nothing has happened to basera... Jai had bought the land and permanently given it to us...abhi basera ko koi nahin cheen sakta...he is such a wonderful man bani..."

"Haan beta...and he did this for you..." keshubhai's wife kekti said coming near her... bani sat astounded...

"Acha abhi hum chalte hain..." they left one by one...

"Hello darling...get well soon dear we are all waiting for you..." uday said smiling at her affably...

"Yes uncle..." bani smiled, her eyes glued to the entrance...

"Seems like you don't want to talk to me...and I know whom those pretty eyes are searching for..." uday grinned making her blush...

"Seriously bani I thought you were intelligent but you went and fell for him..." uday teased her...

"Uncle...it...I..." bani fumbled...

"At least now I can expect to have intelligent grandchildren..." bani turned crimson...

"Okay enough I will not tease you..." uday left...

Bani sat anxiously...she almost stopped breathing when jai entered her room, still clad in the same clothes drenched in her blood...his face wearied out...she bent her head, not wanting to look at him as he came and sat on the stool near the bed...

"How are you??" he asked, his voice sounding hoarse...

"I am fine..." came her soft reply...she looked up...

"Thanks for saving basera...I..." before she could complete...she found herself being kissed by him...

"I love you so much bani...you scared the hell out of me..." he whispered leaving her lips...his forehead touching hers...

"I thought you will never say this..." bani squalled lowly, tears spilled from her eyes finally hearing what her reluctant heart always wanted to hear...

"I always say that you scare me..." jai said...bani hit his arm...

"Marry me..." his words were direct and sincere...bani mutely nodded her head in affirmation...

On the contrary I think I liked the drama in the ending. Well written as usual. even though the seed was from Two Weeks notice you had ur own chars and twists and turns to adapt it very well.

That was a highly dramatic Jai and Bani renunion I would say. It took her to get into teh hospital bed with a head injury for both of them to realize they love one another. Great story.
