The Sales Part 11

"Hello Bani...its me Pushkar. Yaar you have forgetton me. Why should you remember me? Now that you are working for Jai Walia." Pushkar whined in the phone.

"Oh Pushkar you know it is not like that...I have been busy...you know having to learn new job." Bani tried to justify why she had not kept in touch.

"Oh yes...come on Bani. Don't tell me JW is a slave master like AD."


Bani laughed, "Pushkar...you know I don't work directly for Mr Walia. My boss is a sweet man named Adi. And he does not come even 1% close to AD."


"So tell me...this sweet guy Adi...is he hot and s**y too?"

Bani looked horrified even though Pushkar was not talking in front of her. "Gosh Pushkar...stop it. Adi is happily married...in fact he is Anu's dad. I would never dream of harbouring any kind of dreams for him."

"Anu's dad! Well ok...I believe you. But there must be someone there...you know an office like that has plenty of guys who are single and ready to date nice, sweet girl like you."


Bani blushed, it was bad enough having to avoid flirting some of the guys tried with her and her Pushkar was also bugging her the same. "Yes Pushkar...there are plenty of hot looking guys here and they are falling over each other for my attention...does that make you happy?"

Pushkar laughed, "I am delirious. But what about Mr Walia...I mean you must see him everyday and well you know...he is kind of likes you too."

Bani frowned, her forehead creasing. She had seen Mr Walia again today, but he had seemed in a bad mood again. Obviously it was right for her to walk up to him and be familiar, she would hate for the others to gossip about them.

"I see him now and then...but he is a busy man." Bani tried to sound casual.

"Hmmm...any way I phoned to ask if we could have lunch together. I need a big sister to give me some advice."

Bani giggled, "Ah...wondering why you called me? Accusing me of abandoning you. HUmph!"

Pushkar giggled on the other side, "Sowie...look I am holding my ears. But really...come and have lunch with me...I need someone to listen to my woman trouble."

"I see...girlfriend giving you hard time is she?"

"Don't even ask...anyway say yes...please."

"Ok...I will call you back. Let me first ok it with my boss."

"Ok Bani...I shall be waiting." Pushkar cut the phone off.

Bani made her way towards Adi cubicle. She knew Adi would not mind, but always felt that she should get permission, just in case she got late. "Adi sir..." she called as she stepped into the cubicle. She stopped where she was on seeing Jai Walia sitting in the cubicle. "Oh hi Mr Walia." Bani said hesistantly as Jai turned and looked at her. The frown that had been on his face disappeared as he smiled on seeing her. "Hi Bani. Adi's just stepped out for a minute. Can I help...or do you need Adi?"

Bani pondered just for a second and took a breath, "I just wanted to tell Adi sir I was going out for lunch."

Jai arched his brow, "Bani you don't have to tell Adi if you go for lunch...you are allowed a lunch break."

"I know...but since I am going out...well meeting Pushkar, I just wanted to let Adi sir know...just in case I got late."

On hearing Pushkar's name Jai got alert. Now why was she meeting with Pushkar? "How is Pushkar?" he asked.

"I guess ok. I mean I haven't seen him since I started work. And he called today about meeting and I couldn't say no." Bani replied.

Well he was glad she did not have time to see Pushkar...even though he knew Pushkar was nothing but a friend, but hey...he is a guy...and man can change his mind. It took but two seconds to decide, "May be I can tag along...I wouldn't mind seeing Pushkar...see how his course is going."

Bani smile grew wider, "Oh I think he would like that...plus you can help him in other matter. Sometimes...I don't know...Pushkar seems to think I can solve all his problems." Bani could not help feel relieved, she had no idea what kind of mess Pushkar's relationship was in and she did not feel like offering advise when she had no experience herself.

Jai smiled, feeling pleased with himself, now he can make sure Pushkar behaves himself. "Ok...I shall meet downstairs in half an hour." Bani nodded and left.

Few seconds later, Adi walked into see Jai smiling. He sat down, "So what happened? One minute you look ready to beat someone up and now you are all happy!"

Jai tapped the desk, "Why can't be happy? May be I saw sun shining through the window and it made me feel good." Jai replied cryptically, not wanting to tell him it was because he was going out with Bani.

Adi rolled his eyes, "Oh go away...if you want to talk in riddles. Here take this photocopies that you wanted."

Jai picked up the docs and walked out of Adi's cubicle humming to himself.

The Sales Part 12

Pushkar was already inside the cafe,waiting for them when Bani and Jai walked in. On seeing Jai Pushkar jumped up, "Mr Walia...how are you sir?"

Jai let Bani slide into the bench seat and then sat down next to her. "Great Pushkar. What about you? How is your college going?"

"Almost done two more exams to go...and then I will graduate." Pushkar replied enthusiatically.

Jai sat back, "So almost ready to join the work force."

Pushkar nodded, "Oh yeah...I don't have choice...my girlfriend is hinting at marriage already."

"Girlfriend? Do I know her?" Jai asked watching Pushkar's face closely. Pushkar shook his head, "No...but one day soon...I will introduce her."

Bani who had been quiet up till now spoke up, "Shall we order some food Pushkar...I can't stay out too long."

Pushkar smirked, "Oh come on Bani...you are here with the boss...I am sure Mr Walia won't mind if you take 5/10 minutes extra."

Bani threw a peeved glance at Pushkar and said fractiously, "Pushkar...I know what my reponsibilities are, whether I am with my boss or without...and I only came out...because you wanted my help."

Jai gave an edearing look at Bani, he was so glad that she gave Pushkar a fitting reply. He would could do with ten like her in his office and then quickly retracted the thought...no way...if he had ten like her than he would be even more muddle than what he was in right now.

Pushkar rolled his eyes. "See Mr Walia...she is being so diligent in front of you." Bani glowered at Pushkar. Jai smiled at Pushkar, "Well Pushkar, I like Bani's attitude...at least she knows that she is my employee...and a very smart and sensible one too."

Bani blushed and looked away. Adi was always praising her and she had got used to it...but somehow to hear him say it, sent her heartbeats rocketing.

Pushkar laughed, "Hmmm...glad to know the boss thinks highly of Bani. Chalo...today both of you can help me."

Bani sighed, glad Pushkar didn't continue with his teasing, "So what happened between you and your girlfriend?"

"Oh...you know Valentine day is coming up...and well madam has decided I should do something special you know...no flowers, chocolates and teddybears. She wants something different, something romantic and totally mind-blowing...by the way those are her words."

Jai laughed, "So take her on a weekend trip...or to a spa...they are always advertising...how women loves to be pampered."

Bani gawked at Jai, wondering if he had bestowed such treats on his girlfriends. Pushkar shook his head, "Nah...everybody does that now days...plus I don't money to take her to Hawaii or Mauritius...I don't she be happy with a trip to Khandala."

"Come on…Bani…give me an idea…think what she would be bowled over by?" Pushkar asked desperately.

Bani shrugged, "I don't know Pushkar…I don't know what is in her mind. May be she is looking for diamond ring or you sky diving holding a banner telling her you love her."

Pushkar looked horrified, "Jumping out of plane…I don't be die in front of her."

Bani shrugged her shoulders again, "Oh…I don't know why she wants something spectacular…isn't it enough that you love her?"

Pushkar took hold of Bani's hand, "Sweet Bani…not everyone would be happy like you…I am sure you wouldn't ask your boyfriend to go crazy…"

Jai turned and locked his eyes on her face. "Come on Bani…surely you would expect something romantic…something special?"

Bani's cheeks turned bright red. Jai and Pushkar were both staring at her, "Err…Mr Walia…I am not married or have a boyfriend."

"But come on Bani…suppose you did…" Jai pushed the issue, wanting to know what ideas she had.

Bani looked accusingly at Pushkar and then back at Jai. Taking a deep breath she said a little heatedly, "Well for one thing…why do men have to decide on just one day a year to do something for their wife and girlfriends…I mean why can't you do something everyday, something that she would like or appreciate everyday…wouldn't that make her feel loved everyday. May be making her a cup of tea…or a single rose…or even just taking few minutes and talking to her about her day. It's those little things that count a lot…things that people sometimes forget."

"But wouldn't still want a huge bunch of roses or to be taken away on a holiday?" Jai asked with a smirk.

Bani shook her head and spoke with a smile, "I wouldn't want them or ask for them, but if it makes him happy to do those things for me…I wouldn't say no…because if it makes him happy than I would also be happy."

Pushkar whined, "But that still does not solve my problem…abhi meri shaadi nahi huwi…so I can't cook and clean for her…"

Bani burst out laughing, "Look at you…you are in a state before shaadi…what will happen to you after."

"Laugh all you want. You know us guys don't have it easy. What do you say Mr Walia?" Pushkar directed question at Jai.

"I totally agree. We are you know…in bad books either way…never know what to do to keep them happy."

"Hey Mr Walia…what are going to do for your girlfriend?" Pushkar winked at Jai as he asked. Getting embarrassed, Jai stammered, "Err…I don't know. I don't want to think about it."

"But you have someone special…don't you Mr Walia…surely you want to do something special for her." Pushkar said with emphasis on the last part of the sentence.

Bani noting Mr Walia looked uncomfortable tapped Pushkar on his arm. "Never mind Mr Walia…what are you going to do? I heard one of the girl talking about helicopter rides that one can go on…why don't book one for the night and then may be some place nice for dinner."

"Helicopter ride…that I can manage…better than skydiving…thanks." Pushkar looking slightly relieved now.

Bani glanced at Jai. "Good…I think we better go now…Mr Walia."

"Oh…ok. Bye Pushkar…good luck…let me know if you manage to get your helicopter ride."

Pushkar stood up, "Oh I will…thanks for bringing Bani." Bani hugged Pushkar, "Hey it was good to see you. Happy Valentine day…from me…to you and girlfriend."

Pushkar shook Jai's hand and grinned, "Hope you made special plans for VD too..."
