Happy Ram Nauvmi to all...

The Sales Part 13

Bani walked into the office, everything seemed the same but there was a little bit more buzz around the office than normal. She could hear girls giggling and then some gasps and oohs and aahs.

Adi came up to Bani's desk and handed her a single rose, "Happy Valentine's day Bani."

Bani looked at the rose and then Adi, "thank you sir'Happy Valentine's day'but Adi sir'I didn't get you anything."

Adi patted Bani's head, "Don't worry, I do this every year'give one to all the girls that work for me. After all we are all a one big happy family at work, plus its nice to treat you girls once in a while."

Bani put a rose in an empty glass on her desk. "Thank your sir'it really is sweet of you."

"I am sure you will get a lot more roses by the end of the day'" he winked before walking off.

Shradha who sat at the next desk from Bani leaned over, "Hey Bani. Happy Valentine's day. So did you get any surprises today yet."

Bani shook her head and laughed, "No. I don't have a boyfriend or anyone to surprise me."

Shradha who was married sighed, "Yeah'my husband made cup of tea for me this morning and gifted me a box of chocolate. Before we got married, he used to such fun stuff'but now that we are married, no surprises."

Bani gave a thoughtful look, "But Shradha at least he wished you and made a cup of tea. I am sure he does little things for you everyday that makes up for getting something huge on just one day a year."

Shradha beamed a smile, "Yesh'that is true. If he didn't help around the house, I would be so stressed out. Plus'you know he does book spa treatments for us now'like he says it helps us both get rid of some stress."

"So sweet of him'see you do things together'he does love a lot." Bani chirped.

In the next hour Bani found herself turning bright red as couple of the guys in the office were bold enough to come to her and hand her flowers and chocolates and profess to being in love with her. Of course there was a lots of teasing and whistling to admiring glances. Even Adi teased Bani when he saw chocolates and flowers on her desk.

The same morning'Walia house'

"Masi'Masi'" Jai hollered down the stairs.

Masi who was making tea in the kitchen came running out. "What is wrong munna? Why all the yelling? And don't you have to go to office."

Jai rolled his eyes, "Masi'I am not going to office today'I have to do something. And I need your help."

Masi smiled, "Acha'what do you want me to do?"

"I am going out and you have to come with me." Jai said in imperious voice.

"But munna, where are we going? And what about breakfast?" masi asked, muddled by Jai's demand first thing in the morning.

"I will tell you when we get there'I don't want breakfast, but I will wait for you to have breakfast. I just have to make couple of phone calls first." Jai said dismissively and disappeared in his bedroom.

Masi shook her head. "Don't know kya hogaya'he is not himself this last few days."

In ten minutes Jai came down, dressed casually in pants and shirt. He paced agitatedly as he waited for masi. Another ten minutes and masi appeared. "How long will be gone munna'I should tell Tony'so he knows and can take care of things at home."

"Masi'don't worry. Tony knows what to do'I have already told him. Chalo'"

Jai dismissed his driver and took the wheel of his car. Masi sat down in the back seat. As they drove out masi once again asked, "Munna'where we are going."

Jai shook his head, "I will tell you when we get there'"

Masi sat back and kept quiet after that. She knew he wasn't going to answer her questions.

After an hour's drive Jai stopped the car. "We are here'chalo."

Masi looked out at, "Munna here'what are we doing here? Are we seeing someone that we know?"

Jai half shook his head negatively and then nodded as well. "I want you to meet someone'someone who you will make you very happy."

Masi instantly grinned, "Koi'ladki'does she live here?" And then immediately she gave a suspicious look'remembering Bani. Did Jai have a girlfriend that Anu didn't know about?

Masi got out of the car and followed Jai. They climbed the stairs, garnering curious looks from people. When they got to a floor, Jai was almost set upon by Pushkar who grabbed Jai in a bear hug. "Mr Walia'I was so scared you weren't coming. I have been waiting here for ages. Everything is set," and he winked at Jai.

"Pushkar'meet my masi. Masi this is Pushkar."

Pushkar folded his hand and greeted masi. Masi smiled, "Pushkar'this idiot will not tell me why we are here'at least you can tell me."

Pushkar laughed, "Nahi masi'.phir surprise will get spoilt'and this son of yours will beat me up."

Jai pushed Pushkar forward, "Come on lets go'before I change my mind."

Chill guys...relax...no stressing out...

Part 14

"Adi…" Jai shouted in the phone. Adi moved the phone away and then said, "Jai I am not deaf…you almost ruptured my eardrums."

"Sorry Adi…sorry…but I am a bit hyper at the moment. Look Adi…I need a big…huge favour from you. I will make it up to you…if you do it." Jai pleaded like a child wanting his favourite ice-cream.

Adi laughed, "Haan…what do you want first…tell me and then I will think about it."

"Adi…just do as I say. Anyway…I am sure once you hear it…you will grinning like a monkey."

Adi pulled a face to himself, "oye…just because you are my BIL doesn't mean you can get away from calling me monkey."

"Ok…I am saying sorry…now listen will you…"

Adi listened and as Jai had said, the smile on his face grew wide.

"So you will do it?" Adi heard Jai ask.

"Of course…I can't miss this can I. Oh by the way…you have some competition you know…I mean last time I looked, the girl had flowers, chocolates and teddy bears everywhere on her desk. Poor thing has had so many guys professing they love her today."

Adi heard a deep growl. "You just let me know who they are…I fire the bunch of them."

Adi laughed, "My dear BIL…if you dither about like a donkey…than you only have yourself to blame."

"Never mind my dithering about…just get here quick…and no divulging anything?"

Adi sighed deeply, "Fine…I will try to be asap." He put the phone and sat pondering for a minute. What excuse was he going to give Bani? It was ok for Jai to order him about…but what the hell was he going to say to Bani? When nothing clicked in his mind, Adi made his way out of his cubicle and towards Bani. He smiled as he saw Bani working away, her head down and her fingers flying on the keyboard. "ahem…" Adi coughed.

Bani looked up, "Hi Adi sir…"

"Chalo Bani…I have a meeting to go to…and I want you to come along."

Bani looked confused. "Meeting Adi sir…but what will I do there…"

"Don't worry, you can just sit beside me and make some notes. It will be interesting for you." Adi smiled and then grabbed her arm, "Come on…that can wait. It's not urgent."

Bani stood up and then said a little hesitantly, "Do you think we will be late? Shall take my lunch with me?"

Adi shook his head, "No…you don't need anything…everything will be provided there. Chalo now…no more questions."

Adi's car was pulled up outside on the road. The driver opened the door for them to get in. Bani gave a soft smile to Adi, "Where is the meeting sir?"

"Err…not far I think. I haven't been there before. It's my first time there to." Adi managed to answer.

Bani relaxed, it felt nice to sit in the air-conditioned car while the sun scorched outside. She sat quietly, noting Adi seemed to be in deep thought. When the car stopped, she looked outside, her eyes widening…the road outside looked familiar. She turned to Adi and said with surprise, "Adi sir…I live in this neighbourhood."

"I know," Adi nodded and got out. He opened the door and waited for her to get out. "Well then you can take me to your home first then," Adi said guiding her elbow, "We are little early…so you can show me your home."

Bani smile brigthened, "Would you really like…see my home?"

Adi nodded, "Yes let's go…"

Bani's hand stilled on the door, she heard sound of voices coming from inside her apartment. She looked at Adi somewhat puzzled that there were visitors at her home, her mother had never mentioned it anything and well Rano's friends…they usually met outside. "Maa didn't tell me if she was expecting guests…" Bani spoke as she pushed open the door. Her feet rooted on the doorstep as she saw the occupants of the room.

Adi peeked over her shoulders and arched his brow at Jai.

Rano who was sitting cross legged on the floor, jumped up, "Di…"

Bani looked at her mother, then masi and then at Jai. Adi pushed her, "Are you going to let me come in Bani?" he asked softly. Bani shifted slightly and let Adi enter. Rano ran up to Bani, "Di…come inside…don't just stand there…I know you are shocked…" Rano pulled Bani inside the room. Adi glared somewhat at Jai, who was sitting and not saying anything.

Masi and Kiran both spoke at the same time, "Bani dear…come here…" Bani slowly went up and stood by her mother. Kiran smiled and nudged Bani, "Take masi's ashirvaad…first time she is visiting our house." Bani reluctantly touched masi's feet, confused as to why she was here in the first place.

Masi touched Bani's cheek, "Where did your smile disappear? It is not as if you don't know us." Bani tried to smile. Her gaze shifted to Jai and then back to her mother. Kiran took her hand, "Bani…I know you are surprised to see all this…but it is for a reason." Rano wrapped her arms around Bani and said in with bubbling excitement, "Maa…please don't tell her…let Mr Walia…ask her…" Bani frowned, "I don't understand all this…why would Mr Walia have to come here to ask me what ever…he could do so at the office."

"Err…Bani…" Jai finally spoke up. Bani pursed her lips and looked miffed. Jai blushed, he could see that she was displeased. A long silence developed as everyone waited for someone to say something. Finally Bani asked, "Why are you here Mr Walia? Did I do something wrong?"

Jai shook his head. Adi amused by the scene piped up, "Come on Jai…tell her why you are here and then we can all relax."

Bani now frowned at Adi. Adi just grinned, "Chill Bani…its Valentine's day today…aur this Romeo…" Adi found himself cut off by Jai, "Shut up Adi…"

Adi just rolled his eyes at Jai. Masi, tugged at Jai's hand, "Chalo munna…we are all waiting…you did say you wanted to ask her."

Jai took a gulp of air and then stood up and came close to Bani and gazed at her looking highly embarrassed, mumbled, "I thought this was going to be easy…but I all nerves now." He dropped down on his knees and took hold of Bani's hand. Rano clapped happily, her eyes sparkling. Bani now turned red, realizing what Jai was about to do. She snatched her hand, "No…no…the answer is no." she snapped.

"But I haven't even asked you…how do you know what I am going to ask?" Jai said, feeling even more unsettled now.

Bani gave him an acrimonous stare. "What does a man ask when he gets on his knees? Even I know that…"

"Well then let me ask and then you can say no…" Jai retorted.

Adi laughed softly, he didn't expect the calm and serene Bani to be showing temper, it was turning out to be quite interesting scenario.

Rano unperturbed by the sparks that were now directed by Jai and Bani at each other, "Come on Mr Walia…ask her…she is just bit annoyed…because she is under spotlight."

Bani gave an exasperated sigh. Jai grabbing Bani's hand, "Please Bani…I am taking a huge gamble…but see I wanted to talk to your parents first…before…" he gulped again, "I mean pehle…have to take permission of the elders no…" he said softly.

Bani nodded, though she still looked irked.

"Any way I have your mother's blessing…and masi…so will you marry me?"

"No!" Bani said softly and took her hand away.

Jai looked dismayed, "Why…I mean you do like me?"

"Yes…but I work for you…and you are my boss…and you don't know much about me."

Masi looking unhappy, "Bani…what is wrong with my munna? Today he didn't come here as your boss…he came as my son…and if your parents don't see anything wrong…than what do you find wrong with my munna?"

Bani shook her head, "There is nothing wrong with Mr Walia. It's just that…you can see…we are not even in the same social standing as yourself."

Adi was trying to digest the fact that Bani said no. He walked up to Bani and sat her down. "Look Bani…marriage is about you two liking each other…today lots and lots of people get married who come from different backgrounds. And what is more important here…Jai is crazy about you…you don't know how your boss has been moping around at home. Believe me masi has been on his case, trying to get him to admit he wants to get married…and now here he finally is brave enough to ask you…I thought you liked him Bani, so why not think about it."

Bani gave wavering smile. "I want time to think…and I talk…" gazing in Jai's direction, "may be talk alone…with Mr Walia."

Adi patted her cheek, "Take all the time you want Bani…I don't Jai is going to run away," he said, winking at Jai and seeing his jaw drop. Rano giggled, "Adi uncle…you are very funny…I think Mr Walia is ready to murder you." Adi laughed too, "Oh I know…after all I have known Jai for a long time."

Masi stood up, "I think we should go…" Bani feeling extremely discomfited stood up, "Masi…please you must stay, have something to eat…I will make dinner…please. I would really like if you all stayed for dinner."

Adi looked at Jai, arching his brow for his input. Bani now looked at Jai, "Mr Walia…I am sorry if I upset you…will you stay for dinner and may be we can talk later." Rano gave a woebegone look to Jai, hoping he will forgive her sister's stupid blunder and stay.

Jai looked at masi, "What do you say masi?" he asked softly.

Masi smiled, "What ever you wish munna? I have no reservation about staying."

"We will accept your invitation…but first we will talk. If you don't mind…" Jai addressing Kiran, "Can I take Bani out?" Kiran nodded, "yes…you don't have to ask me Jai."

To all of you who have been vocal about the story....thanks so much...it feel and inspires to know there are people who appreciates the story.

PRT 15

"Where are we going?" Bani asked, her eyes grazing the bronzed muscles of his arm and traveling down to his wrist, coming to rest on the palm gripping the steering wheel. She had always seen him in suits and it was new revelation to see him in not wearing it. When he did not answer, Bani swept her gaze up to his face, noting the arch of neck column.

Jai could sense her staring at him and smirked, "Are you done with stalking my body parts?" he asked with a tinge of amusement.

"You didn't answer my question Mr Walia." Bani replied, miffed by him not giving a reply.

"Oh'sorry'somewhere'it is kind of special to me'but I would like to take you there."

"But where?" Bani prodded, curious as to what kind of place he was taking her to.

Jai turned and flicked a quick glance at her, noting the slight flush on her face. He reached over and turned on the radio, "Why don't you listen to radio if you are bored." he suggested as he pressed couple of the button. "Do you have a favourite radio station?" he asked.

Bani shook her head, "No'I usually just listen to what Rano listens to'her latest craze is radiomirchi."

"Bani'you won't get angry if I say something'"

Bani gaze grew sharp as she stared at his profile again. She noticed the twitch on the corner of his mouth. "Are you saying I get angry easily?"

Jai smiled, "No'but it was funny to see you get annoyed back there'I thought if you could throw something at me'you would have."

Bani chortled, as it wasn't exactly true'she had been annoyed but not mad enough to physically hurt him. "You are wrong'I was mad but wasn't exactly thinking of murdering you in front of your masi."

"Sachi'but your eyes was throwing fire crackers at me."

"Stop it Mr Walia'nothing of the sort. Its just that I don't like fuss'and you just in'front of everybody'without even talking to me'what did you expect?"

"That you would jump into my arms with a yes'I know I sound selfish'but kya karu'" he finished with a deep sigh.

Bani couldn't help getting rankled by his words, "Selfish'I thought more like arrogant Mr Walia'I never thought you would assume that I would say yes'I have responsibility'my family is my responsibility. How can I say yes without considering what would happen to them?"

Jai moved his hand from the steering wheel and rested it on the back of her hand, his voice mellow, "I would never stop you from taking care of your family'"

Bani smiled, her eyes misting up a little. She could never doubt that he could be uncaring, he loved his family'his masi'Adi'nieces and nephew and his sister. Thinking of his family she asked, "You did not bring your sister with you'does she know?"

Jai gave a stilted laugh, "My didi'she is bit of'how shall put it'is difficult. We don't get along that well'come to think of it'she doesn't get along much with anyone. She and Adi are divorced you know'only I refused to let Adi leave because I did not want my nieces and nephews growing up without their father."

"That means she will not be happy with our marriage!" Bani stated bluntly.

Jai pursed his lips, his voice hard, "Yes'but she also knows where I stand with regards to who shall be my wife'I am not interested in anyone of her friends or friends daughters."

There was a long silence, Bani wanted to ask why he chose her and Jai did not want to answer any more questions'all he wanted to do was convince her that he wasn't making a mistake'she made him happy, she made people he loved happy and had all that he wanted.

Jai brought the car to stop, Bani looked out. She realized that she had not noticed that they had driven out of the city. The car had stopped in front of a small house. Jai stepped out of the car and came around and opened the car door for Bani. Bani stepped out and waited for him to say something.

"This house'it belongs to me'it was my mother's home." Jai gazed at the house, his eyes clouding with emotions. "My mother used to often come here'it was her hideout'she used to say." Jai lightly held her arm, "come'" Bani walked with him and waited while he opened the front door. Inside it was dull, the windows covered by heavy shade. Jai went and pulled one of the shades up and light flooded the room. The furniture was covered with sheets and there was dust visible on the floor. It was obvious the house had not been used recently.

"Come here Bani'" Jai walked up to one of the wall and pulled down a sheet to reveal a large framed photo, "My mother'this was taken before she fell sick." Bani gazed at the serene face of the woman in the photo. There was not much resemblance between the face in the photo and Jai.

Jai wrapped one arm around Bani's shoulder and pushed her closer to the photo. His face leaned closer to her, and Bani felt the warm air as he exhaled breathes out. The intimacy of his closeness sent a tingle running down her back. With his voice choked with emotions Jai spoke, "Mom'look who is here? Meet Bani'she is the girl I wan to marry mom'remember what you used to say'that you would pick a girl for me'well you did not keep your promise and'" He stopped, he could not continue. Bani turned her head, her eyes converged on his, which were flooded with tears that he was trying hard to control. Her heart quivered at the sadness on his face and she found herself reaching up, her fingers gently brush across his eyelids.

The sudden touch of her fingers on his skin made him aware that she was with him. His lips twitched, trying to form a smile but failed. Instead he brought her gently into a hug, his head burying in the side of her neck. She hear him whisper, "Sorry'but mom always had these big plans for me'and she never lived to fulfill any of them."

She inhaled air to gain some composure from being held so close. Her hand slid in comfort across his back. "Mr Walia'" Jai moved his face up; his lips grazed her cheek as he moved to look at her face. Bani smiled gently. "Its ok'I understand, there are times in our lives when we want to share our happiness with our parents."

He moved back slightly, catching hold of her hand and looking at the photo. "She would have loved you'I know it. She always said she would find someone for me'who would make a house a home and take pride in taking care of family."

Silence fell, Bani somehow felt privileged that he had shared his innermost thoughts with her. She could somehow understand that he must feel alone at times even though he had family around them, but then not all the feelings or thoughts could be shared the same way as one does with a parent. When Jai gazed back at her, he found her watching him intensely; there was dark shimmer in her eyes. His eyes melted into the shimmer, and once again he inched closer. A silence fell as he continued staring at her, a moment that existed just between them, a moment when they could read each others through their eyes.

The moment was broken when he sighed deeply and said in a whisper, "Will you forgive me for today's blunder? I wanted to give you a surprise'I never thought that may be you were not ready to take that step yet."

Bani shook her head and looked amused, "Mr Walia'I never said I am not ready to take the step. Its is always there in back of my mind, but I have to think of my parents and my sisters. I can never think of doing without considering what would happen to them."

"I would never ask you to abandon your family Bani'of course I would like to share the responsibility'will you let me? I will never stop you from taking care of your parents and your sisters'if you want to do so by working'then that is what you will do?" Jai let out a long breath and touched her cheek lightly. "I am willing to wait'for you."

Bani took hold of his arm and moved him away, "come sit down'I want to know all about you and your family'" She carefully peeled away the sheet to reveal a worn out sofa. "Sit'"

Jai sat down and waited for her to sit. "Where do I start from?" he asked, rubbing his forehead lightly.

"Anywhere'" Bani listened as Jai spoke, her eyes watching him all the time, reading his emotions as he told her about his childhood, his parents, family moments and then lastly about his mother and father passing away.

Bani leaned up and kissed him on the cheek, taking him by surprise. His felt warm rush across the spot where her lips had been a moment ago. His brow arched as he gazed at her. She smiled and said demurely, "It's a thank you'I feel as if now I know a lot more about you'your family. Its important nah'to know some things."

Jai nodded, "Haan'today I met your mother and'your father and Rano. It was nice. And your mother made us feel so welcome."

Bani knew she would start crying if he said anymore'somehow whatever he said was making her emotional. They sat in silence for couple of minutes. Jai shifted slightly, his arm pressing against hers. Bani looked up at him.

"We should go'" he said.

Bani nodded, "But I want to say something'I feel as if I would be an idiot if I let you walk out without saying yes, especially'after everything you have told me."

There was look of confusion on his face. He stared at her and then whispered, "What did you just say?"

Bani giggled, her eyes danced across his face, "I think you heard what I said'"

"Well dammit'say it again so I can be sure I heard right!" he exclaimed loudly. Bani shook her head, instead went near to the photo of his mother. She touched the photo.

Jai smiled as he understood her intention and rushed up to her. When he just stood without saying anything, Bani whispered, "Are you not going to say anything? At least ask maa for her blessing."

XXXXX

The Walia house was filled with guests three months later. Ladies dressed in heavy saris and dresses floated around the house. Men in sherwanis and suits lounged around the bar. The Walias were hosting engagement party for the one only Jai Walia. Jigyasa who had grudgingly given in to her brother's demand of accepting his choice of bride had been given the task of seeing the organization of the party'one thing that Jigyasa loved to do'as it was her opportunity to outdo other parties she had attended in her friend circle.

Wearing a designer sari in red and gold with heavy jewellery and her signature big bindi, Jigyasa ordered the staff around.

At precisely seven o'clock in the evening a car drew up outside the Walia mansion. Bani stepped out of the car, followed by her mother and sisters. Nervously she grasped both Rano and Pia's hand. Her sisters smiled at Bani and whispered, "Don't be scared di'we are with you'" Bani frowned, "I an scared of saying or doing something stupid in front of all those people he has invited'"

Pia who was bubling with excitement of the party, "Di'they are just people, so what if they wear designer clothes and look all high and mighty'they all make mistakes, behave stupid too, just like the rest of us in the world."

Kiran looked at Bani, "Chalo'Bani. They will be waiting. Look here comes masi'"

Masi and Jigyasa stood by the door and watched Bani and her family walk up. Jigyasa eyed Bani up and down, approving the deep pink sari with simple gold zariwork. Anu who had seen Bani arriving from her balcony, rushed past masi and Jigyasa. "Mami'you are finally here. Wow'you look so pretty in pink. Mamaji is going to be blown away when he sees you." Bani bent down and touched masi's feet and hugged Jigyasa. Jigyasa took hold of Bani's hand, "Welcome Bani. I hope you like the party arrangements."

Bani gave a nervous smile, "I am sure you will have done a great job didi'Mr Walia says'you love arranging parties."

Jigyasa arched her brow, "Why thank you Bani'shall we go in. Everyone is waiting for the party to start."

Masi lead the way inside, introducing Bani and her mother to the guests as they walked into the center of the hall. Bani gasped softly as she saw Jai standing with Adi. He looked amazing in ice blue sherwani with faintest of silver and blue embroidery around the collar.

"Wow'" Rano whispered out loud, "He looks like a something out of a dream'so handsome di. How can a man look so good such a simple sherwani?"

Bani found herself tongue tied'she was blown away by the way Jai looked. Jigyasa took hold of Jai's arm, "Come on bhaiya'lets do the ring ceremony first." Bani found Jigyasa pulling her to stand next to Jai. Anu giggled beside Jai, "Mamaji if you keep staring at her like that'than you will cast an evil spell on her."

Rano laughed, "Haan'jijaji'thodi sharam karo'we are all watching you'"

Jai smirked, "you can all watch me as much as you like'I only have eyes for Bani only."

Pia leaning her chin on Bani's shoulder, "Haye its just like the movies nah'the hero just wants to pick up his lady-love and run off. But jiju you don't have to do that'Bani is in your home already'where else can you two run off to?"

Jigyasa picked up a velvet box and opened it. Jai picked up the ring and then gently lifted Bani's hand and slipped the ring on. The solitaire sparkled on her slender finger under the lights of the room.

"Your turn Bani'" Jigyasa opened another box and held it towards Bani. Bani picked up the platinum band and gazed at Jai. Jai slowly raised his hand towards her and Bani nervously pushed the ring on his finger. A shower of flower petals fell on them as shouts of clapping and congratulations filled the room. Anu nudged Jai, "Mamaji'come on'today you can officially kiss mami'" Few whistles and shouts followed Anu's request. Bani took a step away from Jai, looking highly mortified. She shook her head.

Anu pushed Jai, "Come on mamaji'before she runs away'a kiss please'we want to see how much you love mami."

This is final part...thanks for reading and expressing your thoughts on the story.

Part 16

Jai unlocked the door of the house and then he gazed at Bani and for a moment he stood transfixed at the way her softness dazzled in the moonlight. Her gold and red wedding lengha with heavy jewellery enhanced the bridal glow on her face. 'Close your eyes'" he whispered. Bani smiled and her eyelids fluttered down. Jai lifted her up in his arms, Bani giggled as she wrapped her bangle-laden arms around his neck. Jai kicked the door open and stepped into the house. A gentle kick back closed the door. Jai slowly walked into the middle of the room and set Bani down. "Ok'open your eyes."

Bani slowly peeked a glance and then opened her eyes wide. The room had been freshly decorated, the walls were warm bronze tone, dull yellow silk drapes on the window. The sofas had been replaced, a red and gold pattern fabric and antique coffee table stood on newly panelled wood floor. "It is beautiful'" Bani whispered and then she hugged him tight. Jai dropped a quick kiss on her hair. "Come'" he said. They walked holding hands towards the photo of Jai's mother. A heavy flower garland was draped over the photo and a candle burned beneath it. Both of them folded their hands and offered silent prayers.

It had been Bani's idea to spend their wedding night in this house and Jai had immediately set about getting the house renovated.

He wrapped his arm around her waist, "Lets go to bed Bani'its been a long day." Bani blushed and gazed down at his arm around her waist. The nervousness that had disappeared on the drive to the house, reappeared and she felt butterflies in her stomach. Jai led her to the master bedroom. Large four poster bed stood in the middle of the room. The only light in the room was from the candles lit around the room. The bed was covered with red rose petals, the scent of the flowers wafting in the air along with that of the burning candle.

Jai watched as Bani stepped in the room but halted close to the door. "Nervous?" he asked in soft whisper. Bani nodded, the jhumkas dangling from her ears moving up and down. She lifted her hand and pulled at the chunri on her head, the bangles made a tinkling sound. Jai scooped her up and strode up to bed and set her down. Without saying another word, he removed her bangles few at a time. When done he traced the pattern of the henna from her elbow to the palm of her hand. The sensuous touch left a trail of shivers in its path. His palm turned her hand over and he raised it slowly, his dark eyes locking with hers. A small gasp escaped her as his cool lips pressed on her palm and then with a gentle tug she found herself in the circle of his arms.

A trail of kisses ran across her cheek to her lips and his name escaped with warm breath before his lips pressed hard on her soft ones. The slow kiss deepened into a more demanding one and Jai's hand raked across her back and then proceeded to undo the hooks of the choli. Low moans escaped her mouth as his hands now touched her skin, setting fire where it touched. When Jai pulled back and gazed into her eyes, her pupil were dilated and dark, her long hair was spread around her like silk and under the warm glow of the candle her skin shimmered. For a few moments he stared at her, trying to read her mind.

Bani smiled, her eyes revealing her need for him, without another hesitation, Jai quickly undressed and laid down half across her. His fingers twisted a strand of hair and he inhaled the faint flowery scent of shampoo. "I love you'" he whispered as his mouth claimed hers again. Bani's hands ran across his back and into his hair. The slow kisses, tender touches grew into a more frenzied exploration of their heated bodies. Suppressed desires ran loose, until their bodies and soul united to become one and they fell into oblivion until they reached the peak and their cries rang out in release.

They lay entwined in their limbs, their breathing fast, hearts drumming the same beat and eyes resonating the glow of their union. Jai's hand caressed her back, "you are beautiful," he whispered, his lips brushing against hers. Tears shimmered in her eyes as she gazed back and then raising herself slightly, she leaned over and pressed her lips where his heart was still drumming heavily. She laid her head on his chest and wrapped her arm across his chest, sighing softly. "Jai'" his name escaped her.

"Hmm'" he smiled at hearing his name, His fingers played with her hair.

"Will it always be this good?" she asked, her body still radiating the warmth of their lovemaking. His hands gently pulled her up so that he could look into her eyes. "Yes!" he said firmly. "You are my soul Bani'I love you so much'and I will always want to show you how much I love you'"

"I love you too Jai'I want to grow old in your arms. I want to have your children. I want to see them running around this house." Jai smiled, the corner of his wrinkled in fine lines. He loved the sound of his name coming from her lips. The soft sound made his heart beat faster. Bani smiled back and her small fingers traced the outline of his mouth and then she rose up until her lips met his.
