Hello guys!!!!!1 thank u all for reading and encouraging me to write the ff. I am glad you guys liked the story...... I took a long time to finish this one and this is my longest ff.....here is the concluding part.. do read and tell me how it has turned out.
Chapter 40
Jai and Bani's wedding was fixed. Jigyasa was on top of the world. Krishna Walia wanted only one promise from jigyasa the world should not know she is the mother. Jigyasa felt terrible. She promised her it would never come out of her mouth and she would never embarrass Krishna di.
Charles grew tensed with each passing day. He did not know what he should for her what ever he did he felt the need to do more. Bani stopped him from spending giving her usual lecture about less fortunate people and orphanage and children. Charles finally had to give in to her. Stella and Bridgette helped her with the wedding preparations. Robert was on top of the world. All Charles's relatives came by to stay. The house was full. Bridgette Bani moved to stella's room vacating their room for their relatives. Every one of them had their own comments about the ceremony some wanted church wedding and Krishna's family wanted a Hindu type ceremony. Jai and Bani were caught in a bigger dilemma. Jai's uncle Yash came to his rescue. Finally court wedding was decided. A grand reception was planned in the evening.
Bani was on top of the world she had not in her dream thought a day would come in her life. She would have a wedding where her dear and near ones would be present. All she wanted when she came to Mumbai was her mother's acknowledgement. Not in her wildest dream she thought she would meet her biological father. All thanks to Adi papa who was no less than an angel took her by hand and introduced to her father. As she thought about the occurrences in her life she wanted to talk to her Adi papa. She reached for her cell phone and dialed Aditya's number. She spoke to him in lengths thanked him for all the things he had done for her. Both Bani and Aditya became overwhelmed by the turn of events. They fell silent for sometime and their silence spoke volumes. When Bani turned away from the call she saw her Pappa watching her with a glass on his hand. He took a long sip and looked at her.
'That was Adi papa..' she said waving the phone.
'Come here..'
Bani walked towards him. He took her by her shoulder. 'Tell me Bani are you happy?'
'Yes and No.'
'Why?'
'I am going to miss you Pappa.'
Yes you will.'
'Come to Mumbai...'
'And?
She smiled. She knew she was asking foolish questions.
'Pappa I can't believe what is happening ..... Not in my wildest dream did I think I will meet you Pappa I was actually thanking Adi papa...'
'Hm...'
'I can't thank enough God!'
'Bani..' Charles tone changed.
'Yes Pappa.. '
'do you think me being there for the function will make your mother uncomfortable?'
Bani took a moment to reply to him. 'It might Pappa. As a daughter I want both of you there for me. Don't take that away from me. I wont ask you both to stay together and bless me but I want to see you two with me you with your wife and she with papa...'
Charles opened his mouth to protest. Leading a normal life with Stella was out of question. He was not going to voice his thought but it was not possible.
'Pappa...please.'
'Bani , I wont miss your big day for anything in the world. Now be a good girl and go to sleep.'
Bani looked at him for a moment leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek.

Jai was ecstatic. He changed into a suite and looked him the mirror.
'You look perfect.' Came a voice from the door.
'I am.... I know'. Replied Jai to Sahil.
'Shall we go sala shab?'
Sala?'
Han you are going to be my brother in law brother.' Sahil chuckled.
'Jai smiled. He looked once more in the mirror and left with Sahil.

Bani looked at her father and Stella and smiled nervously. Stella smiled assuring. Half an hour later Jigyasa Aditya and their children came to the court. Charles stayed away from Jigyasa. Jigyasa did the same Bani went and hugged her mother and Aditya. Pia and Anu took her in her arms.
Bridgette watched them from distance Pia saw her and waved her hand to join them. Bridgette hesitated for a moment and then ran to them and stood before Bani Pia and Anu. Pia drew her in a hug. Stella looked at them.
Jai arrived with Sahil in tow. Charles was impressed at the sight of him.
Bani wore a magenta chiffon sari encrusted with stones. She looked dazzling.
Jigyasa watched As Charles took Bani's hand and placed it on Jai's palm.
Jai's heart did a summersault.
Krishna Walia dabbed her eyes. Jai's uncle winked at him and Bani blushed scarlet. They walked into the court.
Bani looked at her mother then Aditya her siblings Stella, Robert and her gaze stopped on Charles's face. A tear trickled and fell on her cheeks. Charles smiled holding her hand. Come on..' he took her by the hand and Jai had to follow him leaving Bani's hand.
The documents were signed garlands were exchanged they were hugged by everyone. Aditya had to push Jigyasa towards Bani. She stopped before Bani. Charles saw her through the corner of his eyes. Stella watched Jigyasa. She was a beautiful woman. Her eyes fell on her husband briefly. Their eyes met for a fraction of second he turned his gaze and looked at his daughter and her mother. Jigyasa drew her in hug. She took time to leave her. Krishna walia drew Jai in hug and then Bani. As the family left the couple he leaned forward and asked, 'when am I going to get a hug from you?'
Bani blushed furiously she looked away from him.
Pia who watched the couple stopped before them and asked, 'What is going on?'
'None of your business honey it's between husband and wife.' Said Jai.
'Oh really? That's it? Just a signature? And you call her your wife?'
Bani chuckled as Jai opened his mouth to say something.
Pia turned to Bani. 'I am so happy for you Bani di...'
Bani smiled as a tear welled in her eyes. Pia drew her in a hug.

Rita cried her heart out in the cell as her husband and son went to visit her.
Her Son Sam watched his mother she had aged ten years. He had never seen her disheveled she carried herself in style. Here she was broken and she looked like a ghost of her true self. As he looked at her his anger towards Charles and Bani increased. He left them quietly and ran out of the place. Peter watched him go. Rita looked at her husband. 'That is my son I am sure he had gone to make them pay for what they have done? She said spitting venom. 'My boy will take his revenge.'
'Rita ...' called Peter softly. 'Don't wish that for our son. Look where you have landed...'
'Get out Peter, get the hell out of here.. I am ashamed to call you my husband... I want to see the girl suffer and her father....' she screamed...

The beautician came to dress Bani for the reception. Krishna Walia had to drag Jai from the room.......
Bani blushed furiously at his antics he complained he hardly got any time with her. She was surrounded by her family and his mother... he complained all the way out. The beautician smiled at her.
Two hours later Bani walked out of the room like an angel. Her face glowed. Her eyes sparkled and Jai gave her a spectacular smile.
He watched as his mother and her siblings whisked her away from his sight.
Charles and Robert looked at her with pride their heart swelled.
Jigyasa and Adi drew her in a hug.
Jai finally got a moment alone with her with the help of Sahil.
He held her hand for a moment looking into her eyes.
Sahil cleared his throat as he saw Aditya approaching with his mom. JAI left her immediately he did not wanted to be teased again by his mamu.
Jigyasa stood before her. Her eyes misted. She reached for her. Bani saw her eyes clouded with tears.
'Ma....'
'May god save you from all evil eyes..'
'No evil eye will fall on me ma i have all you guys blessings..'
'Yes..' Aditya smiled.

Sam managed to enter the party hall. He touched his shirt and made sure the dagger was safely hidden. With beating heart he moved forward. His eyes narrowed in on Bani. His face tightened, he screened the room again and spotted Charles. He took cautious step and walked towards her.
There were photographers who were clicking their pictures. Sam did not think of his action as soon as he reached near the stage he jumps on the stage pulling the dagger and reached for the bride.
The time stopped. Guest gasped at the sight. A fire ran through Jai.
Charles shouted on top of his voice in fear. Bani almost fainted in fear. The tip of the dagger touched her neck. A slight movement from her, her skin would rip open. She felt his heavy breath behind her neck.
Jigyasa fell on Adi's hand. Stella looked at them in fear. She prayed to God to save Bani..
'Move..' shouted Sam.
Jai did not move an inch. His eyes narrowed in on the dagger. She was at his arms length. He heard his mother's cry her plea to the boy. Everything went on deaf ears.
Sam looked at the crowd. A tremor went through him he was blinded by fury. He was blinded by the love for his mother. He had no control over his anger or actions. He knew there was no escape from there after harming the girl. He did not know what possessed him. Sweat broke out on his face.
'Move..' he whispered to Bani poking the dagger on her neck she felt her skin tear.
Charles took long step and stopped before them. 'Leave her...'
'Move..' shouted Sam.
'Leave her boy you don't know the consequences...'
'I don't want to know. You put my mom behind the bar get her out...get her out..'
'I said leave her..' he took a step forward.
'Stop there.. I'll hurt her I'll..' he faltered.
Jigyasa held Adi's hand tightly. 'Do something ..Adi...'
'Shhh...'
This was a tricky situation every one saw the fear in the boys eyes. He was unpredictable he could do anything...'
Bani couldn't move her head she almost whispered.
'Leave me please...'
'Shut up..'
'Look at the people around you.. they are not going to leave you alone..'
'I'll kill you before that you were the one who put my mom behind bars..'
'You got it all wrong...I did not do anything..'
'You complained to the police..'
'She tried to kill me ...'
'You deserve to die.'
'What was my fault?'
What was her fault? Thought Sam. His mother was meddling with Stella aunty's husban'd money... but she put her behind bars..'
His dagger moved further to her neck and Bani felt blood ooze from the cut.
Charles thundered. 'You.. leave her boy...' he saw her neck bleed.
Charles advanced towards the boy in fury. Jai feared the dagger would pierce through her neck he moved quickly and held Charles's hand.
'She is going to get hurt ..' muttered Jai.
Bani took a long breath. She was going to try. Try to talk him out of hurting her. She closed her eyes and prayed.
'You are ruining your life brother..'
'Don't call me your brother I am not..' he sneered.
'Listen, you are very young, do you see the man over there my father.. he fears nothing and no one. He doesn't care if he goes to jail or not. I know you have heard lot about him did you not? He is going to kill you after you kill me..'
Sam looked at charles's blood shot eyes. A tremor ran through him. The dagger moved little away from her neck.
Jai took a step forward to snatch it. Sam held the dagger and pointed again to her neck. 'Move ..' he shouted.
'Al right, just kill me get it done fast and before you do think about your parents you sister and your future.. If you are okay getting killed by my Pappa you can stop thinking about the rest of it...'
Sam looked at her. his gaze fell on Charles and then Jai who looked wild like an animal who will pounce on him any moment.
'I promise I'll let you go if you let me go...' she said softly.
'You are lying..'
'No I promise... give that dagger.'
'No....' he pressed the dagger on her skin. Pain shot through her.
Jai and Charles swore under their breath. Bani saw the men. Before she could scream NO they moved in a lightening speed the dagger went flying with it the boy.
Bani gathered her from the floor and screamed as she saw Jai's fold his hand in fist to punch the boy.
He stopped in mid and looked at her in shock.
'don't, don't hurt him..'
'Stay out of this Bani... I am going to kill the bas.....d'
'Pappa No.. I promised he can go if he left me..'
'He did not leave you ...'
Bani knew but she had felt his apprehension.
Sam looked at her in astonishment. Jai pulled him up holding his collar. The crowd gasped.
'Please don't hurt him... leave him..'
NO... DON'T.' shouted Sahil , Pia and Bridgette. Anu stood holding her mother's sari's pallav in fear.
'Sahil you don't know what you are saying.' Said Bani ignoring the pain on her neck.
'Yes I know what I am saying... you be quiet. I'll call the police.' He took his cell from his pocket to dial the number. Bani ran to him and snatched the phone. Jai and Sahil exchanged looks Charles looked at her in exasperation.
'No body is going to call any police. He is going to go home.' Said Bani looking at Sam. She turned to her father. 'Pappa..'
'Charles looked away angrily. His heart had almost stopped at the sight and she wants to leave the boy alone.'
'Pappa please.. let him go. Don't ruin this day for me please. I can never lead a happy life thinking I have send a small boy to prison for his foolishness..'
Sam's eyes welled up with tears. He felt a strong hold of the groom's hand on his.
'You call this foolishness Bani you out of your mind? He came to kill you..'
'He did not know what he was doing? He is immature and I am sure he regret's his action leave him..'
'NO..' Chorused her siblings.
Bani threw them a glance. 'please... look at him. He is an immature boy.'
'Very immature Bani di that's why he came to kill you?' spat Pia.
'Pia please .. ' she turned to Jai he looked away from her. She turned to her Pappa. He stood like a stone she went and held her grand father's hand.
'Grandpa please tell him tell him to leave the boy..'
Robert looked from Bani to his son. 'he deserves to be punished.'
'Grandpa..'
'yes Bani what would happened if anything..'
'Nothing happened I am standing before you alive...'
'Oh yeah...' he smirked and his gaze fell on her bloodied neck. 'beta.... blood..'
'I don't care grandpa.. leave the boy....' she chanted the same thing.
Krishna Walia ran to her with a towel to clear her wound. She stepped back. 'I am fine...' her eyes clouded and tears started falling on to her cheek.
Aditya so much wanted to reach out to her he understood Bani. He knew her. She was a good soul. He stood his ground leaving the matter to Charles and Jai.
Jai left the boys hand giving him a piercing look. Charles took a step towards the boy. Bani watched as her father took a step towards him she moved fast and stood between them.
'Pappa..
Charles caught her hand in his iron grip turned her to the boy and said, 'your mother tried to kill her.. I have put her behind bars. People should be punished for their crimes. That is a law. You too should be punished for the same crime. You are being excused here because this girl is foolish enough to forgive and forget thank you lucky star you came to hurt her if it was someone else you would be dead meat... now get the hell out of here.'
Sam's gaze fell on Bani. He stared at her and moved forward.
Sahil tried to grab him Jai stopped him.
Bani turned to her Pappa with a grateful smile. Charles face changed it's color as he saw the blood ooze from her neck. He pulled the kerchief from the pocket and dabbed at the wound.
The news got on like a fire the manager of the party hall ran to Charles enquiring about the incident. He got them first aid and Charles tended the wound as Jai looked on. Krishna Walia fussed over her. Jigyasa watched all of this from distance her heart ached to go to Bani tend to her needs but she was bound by promise. She did not want to make her family a spectacle Bani did not want that nor did Jigyasa she owed that much to Aditya. She watched Charles and Bani's interaction. He did love her dearly. She saw the concern and fear in him for Bani. She saw the way he tended to her.
'You okay now?' asked Charles. 'Does it pain?'
'No, I am fine and thank you..' she took his hand in her's and smiled at him.
'I am not fine with all this and you know it..' he muttered.
Jai watched them. He saw her face twitch as her Pappa applied a salve on her. He took a long stride. 'You okay?' Asked Charles and Jai together.
She nodded.'
'We will go to the doctor.' Said Jai...
'And spoil all the fun.. of course not..'
'Of course yes get up.' Jai pulled her up As Charles looked on.
'First doctor.'
'No...'
'Yes..' said Jai and Charles and then looked at each other.
'No.....' let all of them enjoy the party.' Bani was adamant.
'Why is she so stubborn?' Jai looked at Charles.
'She is my daughter that's why.' Said Charles with a hint of pride.
'How can I forget that?' he did want to add more like you are always there to remind but he did not want to sound jealous though he was a little seeing their interaction.
Bani sensed the undercurrent between them. Sahil came to her rescue.
'I am angry with you.'
'But I am not.' She joked.
'Bani di this is too much how you can leave that skunk ...'
'You may not know now may be later you will know this was the best decision.'
'What ever.' Sahil dismissed it. He looked at the wound. 'We will go to the doctor.'
'Later..' they were crowded by all. Bani's uncle's from both the sides came to the reception all of them crowded her asking her if she was fine. Bani assured all of them she was fine. Her gaze then fell on her mother and papa who were looking at her intently. She excused and moved towards them. Jigyasa struggled mightily not break before her. Bani smiled at her and said, 'I am fine.' Aditya patted her head. 'I am proud of you dear.'
She smiled. Bani then were whisked away by Pia and Bridgette. Jai and Charles stood on the stage watching love of their lives being whisked away from one place to the other. Bani finally came face to face with Stella. Stella saw her wound. 'You are okay?' she almost whispered.
Bani nodded. For the first time Stella drew Bani in a hug. Bani was surprised. She hugged her back. Charles watched them from distance.

The doctor was called tot he party hall. Bani's protests went on deaf ears. Her wound was dressed she was given injection. The party then went fine. She had a visible bandage on her neck.
Charles's gaze was fixed on Bani. he almost died seeing her being attacked. She had handled the situation very well only Bani could forgive that chap no one and he was proud of her. She was a true gift from God.
Jai looked at her smiling face. She looked all happy and content. He knew she was weary. She had been through hell. She smiled at him as their eyes met.

Charles caught her hand in his. 'I am very proud of you Bani.'
'And I am very proud of you too Pappa..' she hugged him. Jai watched them from distance. He watched her face crack into a smile talking to her father and he knew how attached she was to her father.
'Now where's your husband?' asked Charles looking around. He saw Jai and his gaze fixed on him.
Bani followed his gaze she indicated him to go to them.
Jai took his time walking towards them.
'So gentle man, take good care of her.' Said Charles.
'Yes.' He smiled.
'And Bani call me anytime if you need anything.'
'She wont need anything.' Jai provided,
Charles ignored him. 'Call me if you can't live under this roof..'
'Pappa..' Bani called him warningly.
Charles face broke into a smile. He leaned and kissed on her forehead. He turned to Jai. 'she will be the happiest wife on earth.'
'I Promise.'
They shook hands. Charles did not stay a minute he left with Bridgette and Stella.
Jai took her by the shoulder Pia appeared.
'Jijaji...'
'Yes Sali ji ..'
'Not so soon..'
'When are you going to leave us alone?'
'Sabar ka phal meeta hota hein brother.'
'You don't know what you are saying.' Jai winked at Bani.

Bani almost fell asleep. She was tired the medicine was doing its tricks and she was tired emotionally and physically.
Jai walked into the room and shut the door and looked for her. She was sitting on the bed her head was resting on the pillow.. He had hard time getting out of his friends company and his cousins. Jai tiptoed to the bed and sat down. The bed sank with his weight. He looked at her. She did not lift her head up or move. He moved closer to her and was surprised to see her asleep. He looked at the ceiling in exasperation. 'How can you do this to me God?' he muttered.
He felt Bani stir.he watched her as she gathered her self and sat up. A shy smile formed on her face as she saw his intense gaze. He smiled.
'I am sorry I...'
'It's okay i know you are tired.'
'But i should not have gone to sleep..'
It's okay...' he assured taking her hand in his.
'But ...'
He put his finger on her lips. 'Shhh,'
She looked away blushing.
'How are you feeling now?'
She nodded. The movent hurt her her face twitched she covered it up quickly.
'It's paining?' he was with full of concerns.
'No...'
'Don't lie and stop prending you are a iron woman when it pains it pains.'
'Hm..'
'What?'
It pains... but it is alright.'
'It's not alright I would have made a pulp out of him if you haven't interfered..'
'That's not the boys fault...'
he gave her a stern look. 'He loves his mother.'
'I love you too..' snapped Jai and Bani blushed.
Jai kicked him what's wrong with him. He reached fro her neck and examined the wound. 'You are fine?'
She nodded again hurting her in the process. Her face winced her drew her in a hug. The action hurt her more a small squeaky sound escaped her mouth.
'I am so sorry.' He muttered. 'Bani i think you should go to sleep.'
He moved away arranging the pillows for her. She looked at him her face turning red.
'Good night... we er.. have plenty of time....' he scratched his head.
She blushed again. He smiled. Taking care of her neck she lied down.
He took his side and stretched himself on the bed.
Silence stretched between them. The whole days actions replayed on their minds.
What would have happened if the boy.... Jai dismissed the thought immediately. He turned to her side. Bani did the same. Their eyes met. He saw tears in her eyes. He sat up and touched her cheek.'what happened?'
'Pappa..'
'Pappa? He frowned. 'I am here with you and you know and you are thinking about your colonel? How can you do this to me Bani?' he complained.
Bani couldn't help but smile she sat up.
Go to sleep Bani..'
'You also go to sleep Jai sir..'
'Jai sir?'
'Sorry Jai you sleep..'
'Yeah yeah what else do you expect me to do?'
Bani looked away from his piercing eyes.
'Good night Bani.' she heard him.
She caught his hand. "you are not up... upset with me aren't you?' she almost stammered.
Jai caught her chin in his hand and gazed into her eyes. 'What made you think I am upset with you?'
She did not respond.
'tell me.'
'I that is ...' she did not know what else to say. He is a good man thought Bani very considerate and she was the luckiest woman on earth to get him as her husband. The thought brought a shy smile on her face.
'Bani..'
"Ji..'
'You were saying something about Pappa?'
'I did?'
'You did.'
'Oh I that is he is....'
My dear let us forget about the colonel for sometime.'
'Hm..' she agreed and he laughed.
'Now my dear go to sleep I can see you are very tired..'
he is such a wonderful man thought Bani. 'Good night.'
'hm...'
she leaned toward him on impulse ignoring the pain on her neck she kissed his cheek...'
'Oh Wow.... what was that?' before he could get hold of her she moved to her side and muttered good night Jai sir.'
'Yes Madam Bani for now I would prefer being called sir...'
Bani giggled. Her giggle stopped as he put his arms around her carefully taking care of her wound and burying his face in her hair.

Epilogue
Bani looked on the children. They were playing everyone beamed at her as she stuck her head at the door.
'How is the painting going on?' she asked the children.
'good didi...' they chorused.
Bani smiled. "oaky then see you guys tomorrow..'
'Bye didi.'
Bye.'
Smriti her assistant followed Bani to the exit. 'call me if you need anything..'
Yes I'll now hurry up Jai sir had called asking if you have finished your work.'
'I have and i ma leaving.' Bani smiled.
'No I mean he said he will come and pick you up.'
'But I have taken the car..'
I don't know Bani di he said he will come.... well there he is.' Smriti pointed towards the car that came and halted before them.
Bani's face lit up.
Jai opened the door and walked out and with him she saw her mother.
'Ma....'
Jigyasa stood hesitantly Bani went and held her hand.
'what a surprise?'
'I have been wanting to come and see your Shanti ghar Bani.... Papa was busy so i thought i'll ask Jai to take me.'
'I thought you did not want to come I ...'
Jigyasa looked at Smriti and stopped... 'Shall we go in.'
'Smriti get two coffee..'
'Ji Bani di..'
Bani took them to her office. The office was a small room that had a desk and three chairs. She did not want a huge office she wanted the area to be given tot he children for their use.
Jigyasa did not get into her office instead she went tot he children's play room. There were few of them. The children looked up as they walked in.
Jigyasa's heart went out to them. Her Bani had grown up somewhere like this that thought brought a lump in her chest. Every child she looked at she saw her Bani in them. Her daughter who should have been brought up like a princess........ her eyes filled and Jigyasa walked out quickly. Bani saw her leave Jai nudged her. She followed her mother.
'Ma what happened?'
'Nothing Bani..'
'Then come on look around..' she pulled her and showed her around.
Bani watched her mother as she took the tour of the place. She knew what was going on in her mind. She then took her to her office. Their coffee was placed on the table Jai had already taken his cup in his hand. He watched them as they entered the room. Jigyasa looked flushed. And he knew the reason why she did not come to the place to visit when all the members had come and gone.
Before leaving the orphanage Jigyasa handed Bani a cheque. 'This is nothing compared to what i have put my daughter through..'
'But ma....'
'Shhh Bani keep this..'
Bani folded the cheque leaf and kept it in her purse. Jigyasa went with Jai and Bani walked to the car.
'Where are you going?' he asked.
'To the car, I am going home?'
'Come along Bani.. leave the car here i'll ask someone to pick it up or tomorrow i'll drop you here..'
'Alright.' She shut the door and followed them. sitting in the car. Jai said, 'I hardly get time to spend with her mami..'
'Ma will do Jai.' Said Bani.
'But I am used to calling her mami...'
'cut short the last two alphabets..'
Jigyasa smiled.
'Come on Bani.... its a habit..'
'Alright now speed up bua will be waiting for us..'
Bua? Bua who?'
'Your mother I can't let go of my habit either.'
Jigyasa burst out laughing.
'Don't you dare Bani ...'
'I can't have two rules in here..'
'Alright..... mami I cant make her call ma bua mami, so I am going to cut short the last two alphabets form yours.. by the ways why is she so stubborn?'
The three of them knew from where she got the trait from her colonel.
They dropped Jigyasa on the way and headed for home.

Bani helped Krishna Walia in the kitchen. Jai waited impatiently for Bani to come to the room. An hour later Bani walked into the room.
'Where have you been?' he asked.

'Can I have once more of that?' he asked scratching his head and smiling at her.
