Don't come too close, Prachi Desai tells Tusshar Kapoor

Mumbai, April 20 Tusshar Kapoor says Prachi Desai, who stars opposite him in Life Partner, was not comfortable doing intimate scenes with him and was too much into the dont touch me mode. Mumbai, April 20 Tusshar Kapoor says Prachi Desai, who stars opposite him in 'Life Partner', was not comfortable doing intimate scenes with him and was too much into the 'don't touch me' mode.

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) Tusshar Kapoor says Prachi Desai, who stars opposite him in 'Life Partner', was not comfortable doing intimate scenes with him and was too much into the 'don't touch me' mode.

'She is just a 20-year-old girl yaar and a shy one at that,' Tusshar said. 'What could I have done other than wait for the passage of time? I tried talking to her and get into frequent chats. She was a lot into 'Don't touch me' and 'Don't get too close to me' mode,' Tusshar told IANS.

'Even though she may not have said so all the time, I could make out that she was uncomfortable. I reasoned with her that though off camera she could be the way she wants, once the camera is rolling, there is nothing wrong if we get cosy,' he added.

Tusshar plays Prachi's husband in the movie so it was near impossible for them to not have any intimate scenes. Ultimately director Rumi Jaffrey suggested that Tusshar to establish a friendship with her off the camera.

'This was during our very first schedule and a honeymoon sequence had to be shot. Looking at Prachi's discomfort, Rumi sir asked us to be at least friends off the camera as well. He made us have some dinners together so that we could open up further with each other,' Tusshar said.

A crew member said on condition of anonymity: 'For Tusshar, it was a precarious situation since he hadn't faced such situation before. However, in case of Prachi, he had to be extra cautious in front of the camera.'

This comes as a surprise considering Prachi, who made her big screen debut as Farhan Akhtar's wife in 'Rock On!', is quite close to his sister Ekta Kapoor and a regular visitor in their household.

Since his sister knows Prachi so well, isn't it natural that she shared a good relationship with him as well?

'This wasn't really the case', said Tusshar, 'She did come to our house earlier as well but we didn't interact much. We seldom got into any conversations. I had to change my approach though once we started working together.'

Did Tusshar's words work for Prachi? Well, that would be there for all to see once 'Life Partner' releases in June or July.

Produced by Abbas-Mustan, it also stars Govinda, Fardeen Khan and Genelia D'Souza.

One film wonders?

From Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan, establishing oneself in Bollywood has never been an easy task. And sometimes, even a hit debut doesn't guarantee an illustrious career in the Indian film industry. It certainly didn't do it for Amisha Patel who debuted in the super hit film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000). And we take a look at the other actors who have gained sufficient fame with their debuts but still might thread down the dangerous path of being one film wonders.

Prachi Desai

She starred as Farhan Akhtar's dutiful wife in Rock On!! which became a major hit. But since then, Prachi has been off the filmi radar. She says, "I am doing Life Partner which is ready for release. But keeping in mind the current producers strike, the movie is on hold. The other film I have is Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, which is in its preproduction stage."

Prachi is all upbeat

Email Discuss Share Save Text:

She exudes a charm which is difficult to ignore.

And her yellow dress adds a bit of extra sunshine to an otherwise dry summer afternoon in Ahmedabad. For all the fans of actor Prachi Desai, here's something to know. Yellow is her favourite colour and coming back to Ahmedabad makes her feel happy.
Ask her about her career and she says she believes in doing one thing at a time. So, it's time for films not television.

"I am currently doing films Life Partner with Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D'souza and Once upon a time in Mumbai with Emraan Hashmi. Films are a new beginning for me and I am enjoying every moment of being in this industry. I have got to learn a lot but there is a long way to go," she says.
Talking about the film with Tusshar Kapoor, she says, "Life Partner is a comedy film." And what about doing those intimate scenes with Tusshar? She replies back immediately, "No such scene is required. So, the question of doing such scenes doesn't even arise."

Quiz her about doing the Ekta Kapoor's film Don and she says, "I didn't know Ekta was making Don."

Most often she's being referred as the girl from the next door, so will the audience ever see her doing those hot scenes on the silver screen? "I want my acting to be seen and noticed. I believe in hot acting (well, she must be the first one to coin this term) and not hot scenes," she says.
The small screen gave her loads of recognition and fan following. And now that she's working in films, what does she feel about the two different mediums? "The work pattern followed in both the industries is quite different. It was a great pleasure working in television and I am fortunate enough to get my debut film. I always wanted to act in films. Currently I am doing no TV shows but I will always come back to the small screen for the promotion of my films."

It might be an uncomfortable question but we decided to go ahead with it. Director turned actor Farhan Akhtar walked away with all the credit for Rock On!! (which also happened to be her debut film), did she feel about it? "I consider myself lucky to get an opportunity to act in Rock On!!. I could not have asked for more."

Life Partner: Tushaar Kapoor and Prachi Desai have started promoting Life Partner by making appearances together. Tushaar's friendship with Manish Malhotra ensures he doesn't make a fashion faux pas. Prachi needs a stylist friend too. Her blue dress is cute but the transparent plastic sandals ruin the look. She should throw them right

Star Advice: Prachi Desai

Prachi Desai had straight, healthy and long tresses when she played Bani in Kasamh Se. Her role in Rock On, however, called for a trendy and short layered hair cut.

Prachi's hair is not that long anymore but it's still lustrous and well maintained. The Gujju gal, who has her genes to thank for her healthy mane, gives us some hair care tips.

Tip 1: Since the summer season is on, you need to wash your hair more often than you normally do. This would make your hair dry. So, before you wash your hair, apply a mixture of lemon, curd and vinegar. You can also try washing your hair with beer: it makes it soft and shiny.

Tip 2: Avoid styling your hair too much because heat and humidity will ruin the style and you hair will feel and look more damaged.

Tip 3: You could experience more hair fall during the summer. Don't fret over it as it's only seasonal. If you like, you can cut your hair short.

Tip 4: Wash you hair with cold or lukewarm water. I think cold water is the best option right now, to beat the heat and keep your head cool.

Tip 5: If you are out on the field everyday, traveling by auto or on a scooty, keep your head covered with a scarf because pollution harms your hair like nothing else. Loose tresses are also a no-no. Tie your hair into a bun, ponytail or braid when you step out of the house.

Lead Star who had been replaced
Apart from entertaining us onscreen, our small screen actors' antics and tantrums off-screen also make for an interesting gossip. But as a result, bad relationships between temperamental stars and their production houses often lead to replacements of these actors. Here is a list of leads on popular television soaps who have been replaced.

Prachi Desai replaced by Gurdeep Kohli
Character: Bani
Show and channel: Kasamh Se, Zee TV
Reason for replacement: Prachi decided to quit Kasamh Se when she got an offer to star in Rock On, opposite Farhan Akhtar. Prachi, who was portraying the role of Bani in Kasamh Se, didn't want to miss this opportunity to further her career. As a result, she told producer Ekta Kapoor about her Bollywood offer and decided to quit. They agreed on amicable terms and she was finally replaced by Gurdeep Kohli of Sanjeevani fame.

Age gap marriages rocking on television
The trend of age gap marriages has become really old now as it has been there right from the time of the saas bahu era. The current trends of the best shows on the small screen all have a very common factor in them- they all depict the lives of two individuals who have a long gap of age difference. Yawn! Indya takes a look at some current yarns spinning the wrinkled age-old story.

Bani and Mr. Walia

Portrayed by: Prachi Desai and Ram Kapoor

Name of the show: Kasamh Se, Zee TV

Kasamh Se was the story of three sisters, Bani, Piya and Rano Dixit who extend their full support to their father in their troubled days. She gets married to Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor), a businessman by profession who is much elder to her.
