I t is the best birthday gift,? beamed Rock On!! star Prachi Desai, as she sat pretty in Mar rakesh on Monday afternoon with make-up pro Nabin Das giving her tresses a last minute touch-up and designer Jyotee Khaitan giving her lehnga a nip and a tuck. The occasion: A photo-shoot for Jyotee?s new bridal line. ?I just turned 20 on September 12. At 19 I had three great things to look back at. It feels great to have a super-hit film now. I was so nerv ous about whether people will accept me after television and for two-and-a-halfhours at that! It is an achievement that people have been able to relate me to Sakshi in the film,? gushed the demure Virgo from Pune, who shot to fame with Kasamh Se. Presumably because there were so many messages about her role in Rock On!!, it took Prachi more than two hours to recollect who was the first to congratulate her. ?I think it was Shabana Azmi. I was overwhelmed,? said Prachi, in between sips of fresh lime juice.

Does the fear of getting typecast lurk somewhere? ?It must not happen. When someone tries to break away from the mould, they tend to go over the top. It is not their fault.
