Salil Ankola

Salil Ankola made a professional blunder recently. The actor turned up sloshed on the sets of Karam Apna Apna. So much so, that the shooting had to be cancelled. Plans had to be rehashed, a new episode had to be written and actors Yash Tonk and Pallavi Subhash had to be asked to shoot a comeback sequence.

Ipshita Deb, executive producer of the show, says, "I was not on the sets that time. But I was told that Salil arrived drunk on the sets. Shooting had to be cancelled and Mahesh had to write a fresh episode on the sets, at seven in the evening. For the first time in the history of the show, we got delayed and the episode had to be unlinked as the tapes could not reach on time. The story had to be woven around Shiv and Gauri." Deb further adds, "I later learnt that Salil was very unwell and was admitted to a hospital. The doctor said that he had been admitted due to a food allergy. However, he was discharged on Thursday and although he was in no position to shoot, he shot on Thursday.

Since Friday he has been back on the sets, and although I had initially thought of replacing him, I will not do that now."

Despite what the producers had to say, Salil Ankola chose to deny the story. He said, "I don't drink at all. I have left drinking over one-and-a-half months ago. I have been unwell and have been under heavy medication. I was very drowsy that day. I was admitted to the hospital due to a food allergy as I had eaten some pork that didn't suit me."
