Chapter 1- STUCK TOGETHER LIKE FEVICOL

"If I ever get my hands on that… that… Mr. Arrogant or… or… that Mr. I'm-the-best-and-nobody-can-touch-me, I swear upon my dead dog that I will kill that… frog looking… that mosquito licking banana eating monkey!!!!! Aaarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh…….," yelled a girl wearing a red gorgeous dress while being dragged away from the press. "How dare he kiss me and that too in front of everyone? He is so dead! How dare he????"

Epshita frowned while seeing her best-friend drunk, sitting in her seat rambling on and on about killing "him". She wondered who the "him" or the "he" was but for now Epshita knew there would be no point in saying anything to her as she wasn't in her senses. Gauri started sniffing, bringing Epshita out of her thoughts and then started sobbing hysterically. Epshita knew it wasn't because of the "he" who kissed but it was her past. Epshita now knew nothing means nothing could stop Gauri from crying. Epshita put her arms around her shoulders trying to comfort her. Gauri loved this about Epshita. She would never ask questions when she knew Gauri didn't want to talk but just sit with her, try to console her and actually let her cry.

Gauri was just like that. These were one of her moments when she didn't know what events would trigger her break downs. She pressed her lips together to stop them from trembling and squeezed her eyes shut to stop them from crying any further. The engagement flashed in front of Gauri's mind like jet fire. There stood Prithvi slipping the ring with the huge stone that every girl dreams of, onto Sheetal's, her sister's hand. Gauri smiled with tears bombarding her eyes. Though, the smile didn't look plastered, it was a mixture of happiness and a tint of disappointment.

The car came to a halt and so did her thoughts. She looked at Epshita from the corner of her eyes and so her sleeping while hugging her. She smiled. She nudged Epshita waking her up and replied to Epshita's questioning eyes, "Thank you… I'm fine now, but we better go to bed now…" Gauri was slurring a lot but could definitely understand the situation appropriately. Epshita smiled, "Good night, sweet heart… you better go to sleep too darling." Epshita turned and headed towards her room while Gauri too turned walking up the stairs still nodding to Epshita's orders.

She felt someone nudge her and in response she answered sleepily like a kid talking to their mommy pleading for some extra minutes of sleep, "Epshita… I promise I'll make you those chocolate brownies if you let me sleep… please…."

"I'd love those chocolate brownies, darling even though I'm not Epshita and you better wake up and just out of curiosity doesn't your neck hurt cause you've been sleeping on the stairs the whole night unless you sleep walk too," replied a husky voice.

Gauri just smiled, still with her eyes shut. "Epshita… stop with the pranks now let me sleep! By the way your voice sounds really sexy just like that stupid frog looking, mosquito licking, banana eating monkey…" She giggled like a child, with a pleasant smile across her face. She moved her hands making her head free fall that finally woke her up. She opened her eyes to the unwelcoming sunlight, making her eyes squint.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! YOU BANANA EATING MONKEY… WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!!! GET OUT! HOW DARE YOU," she screamed widening her eyes she was now in a daze.

Shiv Khanna stepped back with his hand up like he's caught by the cops for committing a crime. He wasn't a bit surprised by her reaction; in fact, he was pretty much expecting it.

"Relax woman! I'm your new body guard appointed by your parents and I will accompany you everywhere you go from now. And just to let you know I'm not the least sorry for what I did yesterday and I think you pretty much needed that cause you just wouldn't shut up," he grinned like a monkey. Even though she didn't believe in evolution, after meeting Shiv Khanna she was now a hundred percent sure that humans evolved from monkeys, she smiled unconsciously and frowned the next moment seeing Shiv staring at her waiting for a response.

She just started walking up the stairs while she was trying to processes the whole conversation and suddenly turned stunning Shiv and said, "Hey…. There's no way that your going to be MY bodyguard so you're FIRED!" When he just grinned at her she was furious and now yelled, "DID YOU HEAR A SINGLE WORD I SAID?"

He finally made the courtesy to reply, "You're so predictable, aren't you? Cause your parents warned me before hand of how you'd react and said that even though you say so I will not be fired."

She was staring at him in bewilderment with annoyance clearly written on her face and was dumb stuck with that million dollar smile of his. He wasn't that bad in looks. She laughed thinking of what she called him yesterday, a frog looking, mosquito licking, and a banana eating monkey. She wondered what made her say that and then she finally remembered he had kissed her because she was yelling at him because he said she looked beautiful and asked her for a dance. How dare he ask ME for a dance? How annoying! And that was a private party with rich and glamorous people, right? Then what was he doing there. He was probably someone else's body guard, she answered her own question.

"Funny how she's just like what she use to be, dobi," he muttered under his breath still grinning.

She looked at him suspiciously and then gave him a shrewd look running up the stairs while Shiv just kept on staring at her amusingly.

Stripping out of her clothes, she locked the door because she had a bundar living in her house and now she would have to make sure that she isn't dressed to skimpily even in her on house. Aaarrgghhhh…..

After taking a shower, getting dressed in a pair a jeans and a tank she walked down the stairs and seeing him cook! Yes I said COOK in her kitchen she stopped in her steps and just stared unbelievably. She'd never known a guy who'd cook except obviously for a chef. She never imagined a bodyguard to cook… She'd always had a mental image of a body guard to be tall, black, always serious, and yeah, always frowning but her the scenario was totally opposite. Their in front of her eyes stood a handsome man with a wide grin on his face, which wasn't intimidating but it definitely made her inside unsettling. But she had to admit that he had some style in everything he did, even while cooking. She let out a laugh.

Shiv glanced up from where the laugh came from and grinned even wider when he saw Gauri staring at him cook.

Gauri smiled a sweet angelic smile and headed towards him. That just made him feel that something was wrong; he'd expected her to give him those intimidating and disgusted shrugs. She came and sat on the breakfast table. "So what are you cooking? Are you a chef too?" she simply blurted out looking at him crack the eggs and making the mix to make her omelet. Her voice sounded like a kid watching someone do magic, he smiled and said no.

She watched him place the omelet dish with the glass of orange juice in front of her, so she again smiled her angelic smile, fluttering her eyelashes making him alert that this girl was definitely onto something.

She tried to start a conversation with him, "So… whose in your family?" That's an appropriate question, isn't it?

"My dad, mom, I have a sister and an older brother."

But that's all he'd do, answer his question, then shut up and stare at her smilingly. She said ok, thinking he didn't really like her so she shut her mouth and finished her breakfast. The truth was he didn't want to reveal anything way in depth in case she found out who he really was. He handed the newspaper to her, and said open it after I'm gone and just in advance I'm really sorry but it isn't completely my fault because you were the one freaking out," he said and dashed out of the kitchen.

She flipped the newspaper open, confused and let out a loud, furious scream, "AAAAAAHHH!! OOOHHH MMYYYYY GGOOOSSSSHHHHHHHH…!"

She had completely forgotten about the party and her getting drunk! On the newspaper, it was a picture of her looking high and being dragged away with Anjali! The headlines were "Miss Gauri Sharma, daughter of the Alokban Sharma who has one this year's best business man's award in India, is caught coming out of a private party drunk!" As soon as she dropped the newspaper on the floor, she heard her cell phone ring so she ran upstairs and grabbed her cell phone from her bed.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit," she screamed in accelerating her voice every time. She picked the phone up "Daddy! I'm so sorry! I don't know what got into me, I really am very sorry, I didn't mean to but that stupid monkey really irritated me so I had to do something but I don't know how I got drunk, Daddy! I really am sorry for breaking your trust!" she started sobbing hysterically.

"Gauri! Stop crying right now!" it was her Daddy's firmest voice she had ever heard and she immediately stopped crying. You caught me, I investigated a little further than the news reporters and found out your lines…" he laughed making her frown.

"Daddy, that monkey I got mad at yesterday is the new body guard you have appointed me!!! I can't even stand him for one moment. I was only nice to him because I wanted to get in the good side so that I could… oh.. umm… never mind." Alok heard exactly what she said but decided to act like he didn't pay any attention to it and said, "Well, darling he's a really good body guard and he will take good care of you even if it means risking his own life. Trust me! And don't take too much advantage of me now… I let you live by on your own and let you take your own responsibilities but now things have worsened and I can't risk your life for anything. So now do me a favor by not arguing and by hanging up the phone." Gauri frowned, "Bye daddy! I love you and tell Nishant Bhaiya and mom and Kanan Didi hi and tell them I love them too much!" As soon as she put the phone down, her phone started ringing again. After picking up the phone her one hello was replied with a long tirade from Epshita telling her what she did yesterday and telling her how she was wrong and how she should never, ever, ever do something like that again. Gauri quietly listened to her, apologized and said bye saying she had some work to do.

She picked up the newspaper to read the whole article and noticed that there wasn't much of any slandering under her name or her dad's name which relieved her. She knew this was all Epshita's work and she made a mental note to thank her when she next talked to her.

She noticed that Shiv was not any where to be seen for the entire afternoon so she decided to continue with the plan formulating in her brain. Shiv wasn't exactly avoiding her, but had left to go to his house to meet his family. However, before he left he informed the watchman's to keep an eye on Gauri and make sure she doesn't get out of the house.

Gauri lived in a big apartment and was currently a top businesswoman. She had not only studied business (MBA) but had also gotten a degree in medicine. She knew they had no connections but she wanted to be a businesswoman by profession but her parents wanted her to become a doctor.

The whole day Gauri stayed at home doing something or the other. She first, replied to all her emails then she updated her scrapbook with some more pictures and then read her favorite book once again.

It was 6 already by now so she went inside and took a shower and slipped on a gorgeous chestnut colored dress with sparkles on which gave her a ravishing but at the same time an elegant look. She sneaked downstairs and noticed the lights on in the living room. She figured Shiv was probably home by now. How was she going to plan her escape without him noticing she was missing? Funny, wasn't it? How she was 24 years old and had to plan her escape because of the stupid duffer! She was so sure he was so dumb to even notice that she was out. She came down after slipping her robe on top of her dress. She yawned to get his attention.

"I'm tired so I'm going to sleep. I'll see you in the morning." She gave him a vindictive look and started making her way back to her room. He said, "ok! I'm going to bed too! Good night!" "you know you duffer, you could have apologized for what you did, instead of pretending like nothing ever happened. And instead of good night I'll wish you a bad night with bitter dreams!" She stuck her tongue at him and ran from there. Shiv just stared after her unsure of what he should say or do."

Shiv went and lay down on her bed. He closed his eyes and saw a girl jumping up and down next to him watching the football game focusing as if her life depended on who was winning. She screamed, "no.. no.. no.. oh god… yes! Yes! Ha ha, you stupid monkey, I knew it… it was so obvious the COLTS had to win!!" He was unable to sleep. After a half hour of him writhing in his bed, he got up and decided he needed a glass of water so he headed towards the kitchen when suddenly he heard a vase fall from the living room. He knew exactly what was going to happen. He was some what expecting it.

Shiv ran into the living room knowing this would be none other than Gauri, but he got the biggest shock of his life. He saw a man in jeans and polo swearing under his breath and trying to pick up the shattered pieces of the vase. Shiv went and held the man by the collar and said, "Who the hell are you and what the **** are you doing in this house?" The man looked at him in surprise and shrugged Shiv's hand from his color, "Relax dude… I'm Gauri's boyfriend and may I ask who are you?"

Gauri stopped mid way in her steps as she listened and watched Rahul and Shiv glaring and yelling at each other and cursing and talking to herself in her head, "UUUUGGGHHH……!!!! This Rahul also na, just want to KILL HIM right now!!! UGGHH… he can't do one darn thing without messing it up… now what am I suppose to tell Shiv." When she moved her weight from one foot to the other foot, the stairs creaked grabbing Rahul's and Shiv's attention. Gauri simply gave a weak and guilty smile.

She quickly changed her mind after reading anger in Shiv's eyes. Who is he to be angry at me? She hadn't done anything wrong. It was entirely his fault. He compelled her to attempt to sneak out. What was she to do? Just sit at home and go to sleep like a good girl? No, never! Gauri Sharma doesn't ever do things someone forces her to do! NEVER, EVER! He always has to be up her nose, JACK ASS! Shouldn't she be mad at him?

"Ya mind clearing this mess out for me?" Shiv asked through his gritted teeth, breaking Gauri out of thoughts. Gauri smiled, annoying him even more and said a clear "No." it was a "no…" or a "NO!" it was a plain "no." with a full stop meaning she didn't find it necessary to explain anything to him.

This aggravated Shiv even more. "Gauri! WHAT THE HELL DOES YOUR NO MEAN? I'M YOUR BODY GUARD AND I AM SUPPOSE TO PROTECT YOU FROM ANY AND EVERYONE." He motioned his emphasis on his any and everyone and glared at Rahul. Gauri threw him a disgusted look.

Now it was Gauri's turn to speak through gritted teeth "Then ok, fine you do that. But for now I'm going out with Rahul, my boyfriend who I love to death and trust him with my life and I'm a hundred percent sure he will protect me IF anything happens so will you please move so ME AND RAHUL can go out?" Rahul stared back at Gauri in disbelief cause just the other day, Gauri had clarified with him that she didn't love him and only saw him as a friend. She also told him that she just wanted to get to know him better, and that's all. Rahul was actually quite relieved as he wanted to say the same thing to her.

Shiv was now furious.

"YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE MEANS YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE! AND DON'T ARGUE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR SHIT!!!" Jealousy dripped from every word of his

"YOU'RE RIGHT! I DIDN'T CALL YOU AN ELEPHANT." Making Gauri smile with a look of satisfaction thinking he was taking his words back until he added, "I CALLED YOU A BABY ELEPHANT. Haha…."

"UGGGHH………." She spotted the knife in the apple on the table and made her way to it. Because the table was right behind Shiv, he thought that she was going to pounce on him so he flinched and saw Gauri going behind him, he sighed in relief.

He turned his attention to Rahul and opened his mouth to shoo him away from here. He noticed that Rahul was looking at all this like nothing had happened. Rahul smiled, "ok… since Gauri can't go because of protective issues, I'll leave now…" When Rahul spoke, there was no trace of annoyance, irritation or hatred it was pure understanding. Shiv was amused.

Gauri who was listening to their conversation screamed, "NO, RAHUL DON'T MOVE! I AM GOING WITH YOU MEANS I'M GOING WITH YOU. I DON'T CARE A DAMN. BECAUSE I WANT TO GO MEANS WE WILL GO… NO MATTER WHAT"

Shiv said, "Rahul… can you leave? I'm sure I can handle her."

As Rahul nodded and made his way out, Gauri pleaded, "Rahul! I'm sorry… please don't leave me with this JUNGLY of a guy…" Rahul went to Gauri, kissed her forehead. "Sorry babes! It's late now and I've got to wake up early cause I got to catch my flight at 2. Bye darling! I'll miss you…"

Gauri kissed his hand and said, "Bye… I'll miss you too." With that Rahul made his way out of her house.

Now Gauri grabbed the Knife from the fruit bowl and ran behind Shiv murderously. Shiv was stunned to see Gauri like this. He finally got to his senses. Shiv ran for his life, the phrase isn't ironic, is it? He was behind the sofa while Gauri was in front of the sofa and then she chased him around the whole living room like an insatiably hungry cat who has just found a mouse. Shiv ran into her room with Gauri behind him. He was corned. Having no choice, he grabbed her hand and snatched the knife away from him, but she fell on top of him because he was raging towards him on the bed.

The knife fell on the carpet with a thud which wasn't heard by either Shiv or Gauri as they were way more interested in the color of each other's eyes. She thought his eyes looked so much more familiar, but she just couldn't think of where she had seen them before. They stood in that position until the clock struck 12 bringing both of them out of the trance. Gauri's face turned red and quickly got up. She glanced at Shiv and noticed how lost he was in his thoughts that he hadn't moved a muscle.

After both of them calming down and formulating the events that had occurred just a few minutes ago, Shiv got up. "Sorry… you better go to sleep now… it's pretty late now…" Gauri who was too embarrassed just nodded and then shut the door closed after Shiv stepped out of her room.

Shiv sighed, He thought for a second that she found out of he was.

While Gauri was lying abed, refusing to wake up even though it was 12: 30 by now, Shiv sat in the living room with a coffee cup in one hand and a newspaper in the other. He was waiting desperately for her to come down. Gauri got a call on her cell phone, which she picked up on the 15^{th ring. "hello?"}

"Gauri! Do you know what's the time right now?"

"Epshita, have you lost your mind? Can't you just look at the time on your cell phone? Anyways it's… 12: 45…." There was a long pause and then suddenly she jumped up on her knees and screamed, "OMG! Epshita! Why didn't you call me before? Now what am I going to do? How am I going to meet Mr. Singhania now? It's very important for us to get that deal for the concert."

Gauri owns an event managing company which she created all by herself without her father's help and she also didn't let anyone know that she was Alokban Sharma's daughter until after achieving her success. Her company is prosperous but not the best yet.

After a while, an idea struck her and in excitement she hit her boom box and she started jumping up and down on her bed. Shiv ran upstairs and into her room to find out from where the hell was the commotion coming from destroying his peaceful morning.

He flung her door open and the creases on his forehead disappeared and so did his anger which was replaced with pure delightment. Gauri was too busy doing her happy dance and singing along with the song blasting behind her that she didn't even realize Shiv standing on the door with total Awe… written on his face. She was so excited she found a way to go Lonavala to meet her friend and she can solve this problem there as Mr. Singhania will be there for another meeting of his.

She glanced at the door while jumping in a circle and looked back not believing that Shiv had just witnessed her happy dance. "OHH MYY GGGOODDDDD! DON'T YOU KNOW TO KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING A LADY'S ROOM!!!!!!!!! YOU MONKEY!!!!" "oh I forgot, Monkey's don't have manners to begin with, or do they?," she added with a wicked grin.

Gauri opened her mouth to say something but shut it quickly because she couldn't come up with a come back at the moment because she already eaten up half of her brain cells trying to figure out a solution.

Shiv looked at her questioningly. Gauri would definitely have come up with something as far as he knew her. "yeah, I thought so…" he said and turned around to head out the door.

"Just so you know, you can go on vacation for a week because I'm not here so there's no one you need to protect." She made her emphasis on protect.

She turned around and started rummaging her closet to make sure she didn't need to go shopping after all, she would have to prove her excellence to Mr. Singhania as she already gave him a bad impression.

"Eh, hello madam??? I'm going with you wherever you go as I've been ordered by your dearest daddy, ok? And may I ask where we're going?"

Gauri turned around with a HMPH look and said, "Mr. Khanna you cannot accompany me to wherever I'm going cause there's only room for one person on the air plane and I need to reach there by tomorrow evening. So… to bad! Better luck next time, Khanna so now… if you don't mind CAN YOU GET OUT???"

"No." Shiv spoke at once. He used the same no Gauri had once used to him when he discovered her boyfriend and her sneaking out. His blood boiled and anger splashed around in his eyes like lava which would blow out of a volcano. Gauri noticed his good "no" imitation and also saw the anger flaring on his face but thought this was because he was missing out on an outing with her, Gauri Sharma.

Gauri! Don't be to shallow! He's probably mad because of your attitude. Her insides told her.

"I'm going with you no matter what or else your not going!"

Oh my god! What was this man's problem, she wondered. What a control freak. What the f**k does he think of himself. Why the hell is he always bossing her around and again he acts like he has all the right in the world on me. Arrgh… she knew she better not argue because this freak show will go and tell her father everything and even if she did sneak out her father will have even more stress which she didn't want.

On the other hand Shiv was thinking a long the same lines. What the hell does she think of her self? I'm her body guard I obviously need to go with her. Doesn't she have this one thing called BRAIN??? Arrgh… so much attitude? I don't know how I'll deal with it after we… he trails of again exchanging his anger with a smile.

"Whatever! You will have to drive us to Lonavala then I have a meeting important meeting there! We will have to leave early in the morning because we need to go see my friend."

He nodded with a victory grin on his lips and simply slipped out of the room.

Shiv woke up the following morning finding a jar of chilly water emptied on his face.

Gauri smiled looking at Shiv in a daze with his hair all jumbled up and leaving some parts dripping wet and some completely dry. Her eyes next trailed of to the water dripping from his ears and then his nose that brought an unexpected but a completely honest smile on her face.

"WHAT THE HELL Gauri? CAN'T YOU WAKE SOMEONE UP IN A LITTLE SWEETER WAY?"

He then noticed that Gauri was looking at him in a very loving way or to him in a very funny and weird way.

She was disgusted by herself for thinking like that. How could she even think of Shiv as Hot? Ew…

"If you think I look hot then you could tell me on my face, you know?" Gauri said with a glint of naughtiness in his eyes.

She was stunned. She quickly said, "yuck! Get a life Shiv! And you better be ready by 8 or else your dead meat! Am I understood?"

"Yes Ma'am!"

She gave him a dirty look to hide her smile and walked out. Shiv smiled knowing why she gave him the dirty look! Gauri Sharma I won't leave you alone until I make you Gauri Khanna and on second thought I won't leave you even after you become Gauri Khanna!
