KYZ finds its first millionaire!

Zee TV's first and (probably) Indian game shows' second millionaire is here.

And, true to the aspirational values being flaunted by middle class Indians, the first crorepati or millionaire of Zee TV's Kam Ya Zyaada comes from a small town of Faridabad in the northern state of Haryana

Manoj Bajpai with Ravinder Vats

Ravinder Vats, the 41-year-old Faridabad transporter has won a whopping fifeteen million the mega game show Kam Ya Zyaada, which offers participants an opportunity to take home a jackpot of a maximum of 30 million.

What was his state of mind during the show when he pocketed the million-rupee cheque would be difficult to say now, but Vats plays it cool when confronted by Tellychakkar.com.

"When I went to the show, I did not pray for money, but that I should not appear as a fool and come back humiliated," he quips, though the real excitement is more written all over his family's face.

What would he do with the prize money, which, he admits, even after deductions for taxes, is mind-blowing?

Trust the guy not to get swept away with exhilaration. With humility, Vats says, "I will go and keep the original cheque for the total prize money earned at the feet of our family guruji (spiritual leader). Guruji will decide what should be done."

Even if Vats' spiritual guru only showers blessings instead of accepting material gifts from him, the disciple has already made up his mind. Ten per cent of the prize money will be donated to the cause of guruji.

Hold on, that's not all! He may not be a Bill Gates, but the big winner is also a large-hearted human being. "Part of the money will be go towards my financially-strapped relatives' daughters' marriages, while I am also planning to share Rs. 51,000 each with my four fellow participants," says Vats in a tone that rings of satisfaction.

What about himself and his immediate family? "I already have a decent business, a lovely wife and children. What more do I want? I'll be satisfied with whatever is left," Faridabad's home-grown philanthropist explains.

But he might just, only just, indulge himself a little by fulfilling a dream of owning a Merc. "I am eagerly awaiting my first drive in my very own Mercedes," he says with child-like glee.

According to Vats, all the viewers of the show have an opportunity to join him in victory. Ten lucky winners who answer the "Ghar Bhaithe Malamaal" question accurately will be privy to a proportionate part of half of his prize money, which is to the tune of 7,84,000 for each participant.

Vats' dreams unfold on 9 January at 10 pm on Zee TV.
