Chapter Twelve

Manik

"I want double patrolling near the borders. At Least two guards must be there at every 5 miles, at all times. There will be absolutely no slacking. I also want a wall of guards surrounding the pack house. The note clearly says that whoever it is, they are around us. Any signs of suspicion, you call me. Am I clear?" I said in my Alpha tone, I was really angry. Nobody tries to harm my pack.

Currently, I am sitting in my Study of the pack house and barking out orders at everyone. After I found that note, I called for a pack meeting. I simply cannot risk anything. I and Nandini shifted back to the pack house until all this chaos is over. She won't be alone in the house, at least. Whoever is doing this, is very sly and smart. I had investigated around the area but found absolutely nothing. I went back to the Rogue that we had caught, tried every damn thing possible to get the mastermind out but again, no results. Neither did the Rogue tell us anything nor was the mastermind behind all this worried for him.

"Dhruv and I will go patrolling too, to keep an eye on everything." Cabir said. I nodded at him and dismissed everyone.

I slumped my shoulders on the chair, laid my head back and closed my eyes to get at least a tiny bit of peace but the situation didn't leave my mind. I heard a knock on the door. Anger rose to new height but vanished as soon as I smelt my mate.

"Come in." I said. She walked in silently.

"Are you okay?" She asked me.

"I don't know." I sighed. She walked closer to me, went behind my chair and massaged my shoulders.

"Everything will be alright." She said, her voice soothing. I sighed again. I pulled her into my lap and hugged. She placed her head on my chest, directly above my heart and hugged me back.
"I just want everyone to be safe" I said.

"As long as you are there, nobody can harm us." She smiled at me. Her words actually calmed me down.

"Manik, can I ask you something?" She asked.

"Hmmm."

"Who was the guy we met yesterday, on our way back home?" She asked.

"Mine." My wolf growled. Talk about Possessive wolf.

'What? She is our mate. She shouldn't think of anyone else.' My wolf said to me.
She rolled her eyes at me.

"I am. I'm just asking who he was." She said

"He was the Alpha of a small pack. His pack was attacked by another and he lost nearly all his pack members. He seemed truthful so we took him in. I don't remember his name though." I said.

"I don't like the way he always looks at me. I don't get good vibes from him." She said. I was immediately alarmed.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I don't know, whenever he is around something happens. Like for example, yesterday while coming back, he smiled slyly at us and then you found that Rogue. The other day, a guard was attacked near the border and he was around. When enquired, he said he was just going for a run. Something about him ticks me off." She said.

I nodded at her pondered over it. I mind-linked Cabir and Dhruv.

'Cabir, you know that Alpha we took in a few months back, I want you to check with the other pack as to why he was attacked.'

'Everything alright, Manik?' He asked.

'Yeah, just check that and tell me.'

'Okay, I'll let you know soon.' Cabir said.

'Dhruv, I want you to keep an eye on him.'

'Alright.' Dhruv said.

"You don't worry." I smiled at her and she gladly returned it.

"Go take a nap, you seem tired." I said as I kissed her forehead. She nodded and left not before giving me a kiss on my heart.

I went ahead to the training camp to check on everything. What Nandini had told me was still in my mind. Everyone were training vigorously. I was glad that we have very strong warriors that are always ready to defend. Something caught my eyes again. A bone with a note attached.

You can stop this WAR if you want. All you have to do is give me what belongs to me.
Your mate, oops, I mean my mate.

I was beyond furious! How dare he even think of my mate! And he is claiming MY Nandini to be his mate! What the...! I will kill anyone who tries to take my Mate away from me! Slowly and painfully! Death would be too easy of a punishment for thinking about my mate!

'Manik, we have a situation.' Cabir Mind linked me.

'What's wrong?'

'I contacted the pack that attacked him. The Alpha told me that they attacked his pack because he was claiming he was the mate of the Luna. He even tried to kidnap her but the Alpha got there just in time. It was not only this pack, he had tried that on many other packs. The guard who did the background check on him, lied to us. I've put him in the dungeons. He has been helping the Rogues to form a pack. That's how no one got to know when that Rogue entered yesterday.' Cabir said.

'He could be the one who is planning an attack, and trying to take My Nandini away.'

'What do you want us to do?' Cabir asked.

'I want you to gather the best of warriors without raising suspicion. Come to the backyard of the pack house. And Cabir, I think it is time War.' I said. I mind linked Dhruv to watch him closely and to never let him out of sight.

I went back to pack house. Nandini, Mukti, Navya and Alya were sitting in the living room and chatting.

"Ladies, I want you to take all the children, pregnant women and the non warriors to the safe house." I said.

"Bhai, everything alright?" Mukti asked. I turned to Nandini.

"Nandini, you were right. It was the ex-Alpha. We think he is involved with the Rogues. We are planning to surprise attack him. So I want all of you in the safe house until I return. It might get ugly." I said.

"But Manik, I will also come with you. I can fight." Nandini said.

"No. You are going with them." If she was stubborn then I was the Alpha.

"But Manik..." She tried to protest.

"No ifs no buts. I don't have time to argue." I commanded. Perks of being an Alpha.

"Stay safe." I pecked Nandini's lips once the rest of the girls had left.

The safe house was located beneath the SPACE academy. I was constructed there because college isn't a place where the intruders will focus on or even have suspicions. The safe house had a huge hall like room with three bathrooms and a small kitchenette with many ready-to-eat and dry food products stocked all the time. I told to go in very small groups and keep themselves unnoticeable as much as possible. I told Nandini to mind link me until they reached safely.

I went to the backyard which was now filled with highly built muscular warriors. I mind linked them explaining what to do so that nobody else could listen to our conversation. Just then Dhruv told me that the ex-Alpha was heading towards a clearing and met with many Rogues. He told me that there were around 30 Rogues. I told him to be careful and moved with my men. We were 400 in number so we moved in small groups. We reached near the clearing where Dhruv was standing and cleverly hid ourselves. I could smell the Rogues from here. Thanks to our heightened senses, we heard his plan of action too. Dumbass, I thought. I think one of them smelt us, all their heads snapped towards us. They started growling at us. I, along with Cabir and Dhruv, stood in front of them with all our might.

"Harshad Harshad Harshad. I didn't know that there would come a day when an ex-ALPHA would be taking help of rogues." I taunted him.

"I wouldn't have to do it if you just hand over my mate!" He said.

I growled at him, my eyes turning black. My wolf was trying to take control and I happily gave it away. It will be fun killing this one. Nandini informed me that they reached safely. I blocked everyone out and got ready.

"She is NOT your mate! She is mine and nobody other than me can think of her!" I growled louder than ever.

"Well then, this calls for War." He said.

Poor Harshad, he thinks we are alone. I smirked at my thought.

Chapter Thirteen

New word- WOLFSBANE.
It is a poison for the werewolves. It burns their skin and excessive amount and cause death.

The Thirty Rogues behind him, growled loudly at us. From behind, came another Twenty.
Idiots! Trying to attack the strongest pack. Bad move. I thought and smirked. I closed all my links with Nandini so that she doesn't feel pain if I get hurt.

All of them shifted in mid air and charged at us. Cabir, Dhruv and I were standing in the front. We too shifted in mid air with our warriors at our heels. Seeing the number of wolves I had got, Harshad gulped in fear but didn't back off. A few more rogues joined them. While the others attacked the Rogues, I went to Harshad. He circled me like a predator. I was larger than him so it was going to be easy to attack him. He pounced towards me but I was fast enough to dodge it. While I was still attacking him, another rogue jumped on my back and clawed it, causing a wound, but Cabir tackled him. My back was bleeding but I didn't have to worry as it will be healed before we go back. Everyone were snapping the necks of the Rogues while I just harmed Harshad to get the truth out of him. Harshad tried to bite my neck but I snapped his limb making him howl. I tackled him down and pinned him to the ground and growled loudly. I bit him hard and he fell unconscious and shifted back. I looked over at the rest of them and they were doing just fine. Most of the rogues were killed. We all shifted back and took Harshad to the Dungeon.

Harshad gained back his consciousness after two hours. He found himself tied a chair with silver chains, which were burning his wrists where they were tied. He felt his insides burn, like he was on fire. He looked up to find me smirking.

"Feel your insides burning?" I smirked while he stared blankly at me.

"Wolfsbane. I made you drink it. You will die slowly, don't you worry!" I smirked again.

"So, why don't you tell me why you did this and we can get this over with?" I asked.

"What did I do? Nothing." He said plainly.

"Oh, let me think. First, you lied to us. Second, you betrayed us. Third, thought about MY mate. Do you want me to go on?" I said.

"She was going to be my mate!" He protested.

"NO!" I growled loudly, making him shudder.

"Why were you going around into packs and claiming their Lunas as your mate?" I asked.

"What makes you think I will tell you?" He said. His attitude angered me more. I poured some more wolfsbane on top of his head. Each drop slowly making its way down, causing his skin to burn. He hissed and howled in pain but I didn't care. I wasn't simply known as ruthless. I knew exactly how to get things out of his mouth. He thought about taking MY mate away! He deserves every bit of this.

"We can talk or we can do it my way." I said.

"I am going to die anyway. What's in it for me?" He asked.

"If you answer my question soon enough, we can get that wolfsbane out of your body." I answered.

"Why should I believe you?" He asked.

"You shouldn't. I'm giving you a chance to save your life." I said.

"My mate died during a War. I was still an Alpha back then. I needed a Luna to continue my reign. I needed someone to fill that position and also fulfil my needs. So I thought who better than an actual Luna. I almost took the last one but they saved her at the right time! And then, I laid eyes on yours, my desire to get her increased every time I saw her and all I could think of was..." I cut him off in between.

"Enough! Nobody talks about MY mate that way!" I yelled.

"Don't you want to know what thoughts I had whenever I saw her?" He smirked. I knew he was doing this to anger me, so I did exactly what I wanted to do. I snapped his neck and killed him instantly. I ordered the guards to burn the body and went to check around for any other possible attack. When satisfied, I mind linked Nandini that it was safe to come out now. I went back to my house to clean up all my wounds. There were a few very deeps ones, which I knew would take at least a week's time to heal. Just as I opened my shirt, Nandini walked into our room looking all worried.

Manik mind linked me saying all was clear now. I led all of them out of the safe house and dropped each child to his/her home, personally and left with Mukti, Alya and Navya. We went to the pack house but the guard informed me that Manik had gone to our house. I walked into our house and went to our room. Manik was taking off his shirt. There were deep wounds on his back which really worried me. Even with those wounds, he looked as gorgeous as ever! I could spend my entire life drooling over it. I thought.

'Snap out of it! He is in pain!' My wolf yelled.

'Gosh! Why do you have to yell?! I know you like it too!' I retorted.

'Fine! Will you just help him now?!' My wolf said.

"Manik, yeh...?"

"Don't worry. Kuch din me theek ho jaayega." He smiled at me.

"But usne yeh sab kyu kiya?" I asked. The colour of Manik's eyes changed as he explained to me.

"I will not let anybody take you away from me." He said as he pulled me into a hug.

"I trust you." I broke the hug and smiled at him.

"But, how come I didn't get hurt? Wasn't I supposed to get hurt too? Because of the Mark?" I asked.

"I blocked our link." He shrugged.

"Manik..."

"I can't even imagine you getting hurt. So, please?" He said. I sighed. It was going to be useless trying to argue with him.

"Lets get you cleaned up!" I said. I told him to take a bath and cleaned his wound and bandaged them neatly, after he was finished. It would heal soon because of our werewolf blood.

"No going out for two days! You will sit at home and take rest! Understood?" I ordered.

"Yes Ma'am." He chuckled.

"Good." I said.

"By the way, I have to announce to the pack members about you, this weekend..." He said in an unsure tone. I knew why. I had told him I wasn't ready but I think it is time to change that.

"Okay." I said simply.

"I know, I know, you said you weren't...wait what?! You're okay with it?" He asked, getting excited by the second. I nodded my head in a positive.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" He grinned. He is so cute!

"Ab chup chap lait jao. I will get you some food." I said as I walked out of the room.

I was preparing a nice meal for him when two cold arms encircled my waist, causing me to jump in my place.

"Aaah!" I screamed. I heard him laughing out loud.

"Manik! You idiot! You scared me!" I yelled as I placed my hands on my chest to clam myself down.

"You should have seen your face! Hahaha!" He laughed.

"I thought I told you to stay in bed?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Yeah? When? I thought you told me to romance you while you're cooking." He smiled naughtily.

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny." I said sarcastically.

"I know I am. So, whatcha makin'?" He asked.

"A meal to help you get well soon. Now, go on, back to bed. Your body needs rest." I said pushing him out of the kitchen.

"Puh-lease! I am totally fine. My body is too! Do I need to tell you how I caught you drooling at it, in your mind? What was that..umm..yeah, 'I could spend my entire life drooling over it'." He quoted my thoughts and winked at me which made me blush to crimson.

"Manik! Go!" I finally succeeded in pushing him out.

'I really need to remember that he can read my thoughts now!' I thought to myself.

"Oh and I am not CUTE!! You can describe me as anything, you know like hot or sexy but not cute!" He yelled from outside.

"But you're my Cutie pie!" I teased him.

"Yeah? We'll see about that!" He strode into the kitchen and tickled me hard.
