Chapter Eleven
Nandini
"KICK! You need to kick harder! Next time we are practicing with a tree." Manik said.
Manik has been frantically training me from the past five hours. Without a break. Ever since we received a warning from the other packs about a possible rogue attack, Manik has been this way. He wants everyone in the pack, except children and a few women, to prepare for War. Although we will easily outnumber them since a normal pack contains around 100 to 150 wolves but our pack, the largest, contains around 2000 wolves; we can never be sure of the rogues playing fair in the war. They will use cheap tricks to lead themselves to victory.
It has been a week since Manik told me his secret which also involves me now.
Flashback
"We need to talk." Manik said
"Are you alright?" I asked.
"I..I haven't told you about myself completely. There is something you need to know." He said. I nodded at him to continue.
"As you know, werewolves are natural creatures. Long ago, there was a mortal king, chosen by the Moon goddess herself. He was the ruler of both Mortals and Werewolves. He was known to be the mightiest of all. He was arrogant and ruthless. He wouldn't think twice before killing anyone who disrespect him. He is the greatest warrior ever known to mankind. He was very proud of his strength. Once, he was going to a neighbouring kingdom for which he had to pass through a village. He met a young boy who did not know that he was a king and spoke to him rudely. The king instantly killed him. The villagers gathered around the body and the king. The boy's mother came running to the scene and broke down into tears. She was known to practice witch craft. She cursed the king that he and his future generations would turn into a Werewolves every full moon and would have no control over their senses. His bones would crack 100 times harder than that of a natural werewolf on a full moon. He had to go through immense pain during shifting. She also cursed him that during his or his future generation's reign, he must be the strongest of all otherwise his family would die of slow and painful death, and the strongest would get the throne. This was his punishment for his Pride and killing her son. His name was Rajiv Malhotra. Us, Malhotra wolves were created using Dark Magic. That makes me the present ruler of both Mortals and Werewolves and you, their Queen. That is why I had to turn arrogant and ruthless, to save my family, to save it from falling into the wrong hands. I cannot afford to let my identity out as many might try to get this position. We have to chain ourselves to stop us from killing anything that comes in our way during a Full Moon. And now you being an Elemental makes us stronger than ever. I'm sorry I didn't tell you this before. I had a fear that you would hate me because I'm not a Natural."
Turmoil. If you could describe my state of mind, it would be the word. I took me more than expected amount of time to digest all this. I am sitting in front of the King of all. I wasn't ready to take on the responsibility of being a Luna and he tells me that I'm a Queen? I don't know what to say. First I find out that my mate is the most dangerous Alpha and then I find out that he is also the King.
What else do I have to find out now? That he is the owner of Moon too? I thought sarcastically.
'Shut up! He is our mate!' My wolf said which made me roll my eyes at her.
'Always taking his side! Gosh! Why don't you go to his mind!' I scolded her.
"I know this is like dropping a bomb on your head but please understand me." He said. I looked up to his eyes that held sincerity.
'Don't take decisions in a haste, look at it this way, he thinks it was important for us to know before we started a new relationship.' My wolf said.
'Yes, he didn't choose this.'
'He is our mate, we need to support him and not judge him' My wolf said.
"I understand. I will always support you. I'm glad that you trust me enough to tell me." I smiled at him. He sighed in relief.

Two days after he told me, we received the warning about the Rogue attacks. We have been training very hard since then.
"Nandini?" Manik shook me.
"Huh?" I was confused.
"What happened? You kinda zoned out!" Manik said.
"Uh..nothing."
"Okay, let's go back now. The sun is about to go down." He said.
We were walking back to our house in a silence.
"So..." He started.
"So..." I repeated.
"Can we spend some 'US' time?" He asked.
"Um...sure?" I said, it sounded more like a question.
Manik
We played 20 questions. I learnt that she loves Black, likes to read, sing and dance. I mentally noted to hear her sing once. She thinks love is trust. She hates it when she gets special privileges for being an Alpha's daughter, and now a mate. She is more into classical music.
I told her that I love Red, like to sing and make music. Guitar is my soul. I also think Love is trust. I'm very short tempered. My wolf tends to get out of control when someone fails to follow my orders.
It was good to spend some lone time with her, getting to know her. It's ironic how I marked and now trying to get to know her. It was a nice distraction for me away from all the tensions of being an Alpha. I had been really tensed since the time we got that warning. I had blocked Nandini from my mind so that she can't sense my worry. Though I have been training her, I'm not going to let her fight in the War. I just want her to be safe and protect the children when I'm at the battle field.
A warrior mind linked me that they had found someone suspicious near the borders. I made Nandini stay back and she agreed after a lot of persuasion. I told her to stay inside, lock everything and not to open for anyone other than me. After repeating the same instructions for a million times, I left to handle it. My warriors had captured a dark grey wolf of average size.
"Shift" I commanded in my Alpha tone. The wolf shifted into an average sized man with dark hair. It was clear he was Rogue by his foul smell.
"What are you doing here at this hour near the borders?" I asked.
"I was just passing by." He said with a bored look.
"I don't remember giving and Rogue permission to enter my land." I said, anger building up inside of me.
"This land won't be yours for long." He said.
"Who sent you here?" I asked.
"Nobody." He replied.
"He won't tell us this way, take him to the dungeons." I ordered.
They took him away. I glanced around the area and something caught my eyes. Someone had hung a note on a tree close to where the Rogue was tied a few minutes ago. The note was written using blood.
I am always around yet you fail to notice me.
See you soon, Alpha. It is time for WAR.
