"Nandini you have to be strong right or else how are you going to recover?"Manik tried luring again without losing his calm for the umpteenth time in the last hour. However Nandini found this quite amazing as she was running around and finally Manik caught hold of her while Nandini nagged to him "No Manik, it tastes so bad. I don't want it."
Manik was sure annoyed but it was Nandini so he sighed and said "Okay if you have this medicine I promise I will give you a kiss."Nandini was registering his words in her mind while Manik sat in the sofa making an annoyed face trying to grab her attention."Otherwise no kiss for a whole day."
Nandini stood there dazed and then kneeled in front of Manik with tears in her eyes and slowly took the medicine and had it leaving Manik amused.
"Sorry look I had the medicine. Don't ever tell like that again but."
Manik cupped her face and wiped those tears and kissed her forehead and said "Sorry baby but see you had medicines. You need to take care of yourself Nandini."
However Nandini smiled and pouted her face and replied "Why should I take of myself? You are there for me always."
Manik smiled widely seeing her love and trust for him and caught hold of both of her hands and said "Yes that is there but you have to take medicine in time jaan."
Nandini nodded her head and agreed. Manik kissed her cheek again and Nandini reciprocated and did the same. Manik then made her sit near him in the couch while she rested her head on his chest and played with his hands. Manik then spoke "So now what do you want to do?"
"Sleep."
With that Manik picked Nandini up swiftly as she snuggled close to him and took her to their room. He made her lie on the bed and got in the comforter with her as Nandini rested her head on his chest as Manik stored her hair softly. In no time Nandini slept holding Manik hands and Manik saw her smiling like that he slowly kissed her head and wrapped his arms around her.
He sat there but sleep would just not come and he was taken to memories; the good old memories. He remembered that day well. Nandini was a total stranger to him but she had trusted him so much that day. She was so afraid and looked so disturbed because someone had probably spoiled her toys and teddy. Her babyish talks did not take much time for Manik to understand that she was mentally unstable. But whatever it was her trust on Manik just did not seem to fade and that trust made Manik fight with anyone and everyone for her.
He remembered how he had tried talking to her and convince her
"Listen to me please. You don't know me completely but where are your family? They will keep you sound and are the best for you. Tell me about yourself."
Manik tried making her understand but she was just clutching him and hugging him crying all the while until Manik told him to get a milkshake for her and that's when finally Nandini kept quiet. She drank it delighted and got busy back to playing with her new teddy Manik just gave her.
It's not that Manik did not try to take her back to the family. After he got her a new big teddy and asking his manager to find about the girl he took her back to her home that very day. She was crying to him continuously and telling him to take her away and Manik tried pestering her and then successful he left. Her family thanked him for getting her back.
But probably her family did not see the innocence of Nandini that he saw and instantly fell in love. They were so annoyed with her that as soon as Manik left they were forcing her to an ambulance van for mental asylum. However Manik had returned to give the teddy back to Nandini and that's when he saw all of that and as soon as Nandini saw him she had hugged him so tight and Manik held her in his protective embrace. And then things had to lead to each one and finally MAnik was here with Nandini in his arms sleeping peacefully and MAnik had a content smile in his face.
