As far as the side characters are concerned, a major put-off in S1 (for me) was the lack of acting skills (except Cabir). KYY itself eventually became more and more about MaNan than the other characters. But as long as they don't negate the character growth of MaNan for the sake of these characters or for new drama, I don't think it's a problem (then again I only just caught up with the recent episodes after stopping in S1, so I'm really detached. More of a time-pass thing for me now.)

Exactly, I actually find myself multi tasking while watching now! Sad...but I guess it'll help to "move on". Lolll

So it's been a while since the 'manik returns' event ( or non event, opinions vary :) ) - and after watching the last few episode reactions, i feel a little concerned.

Predominantly, we seem to be getting reactions from the filter of Manan - i.e. yayyy ( Manan romance, Manan dance, Manan pillow fight etc etc) or nayyy ( non Manan scenes, Aryaman, Maddy, harshad).
While I understand that people have been starved of Manan for a month earlier and hence needed some romance dose...I think the bigger KYY picture is being lost here.

Kyy was, atleast in S1 and part of S2, about life for today's youth. Their issues, joys, pain, frustrations - I am not talking about how it was executed because that's a separate topic all together. But the focus was not solely on Manik & Nandini as a couple...it was their relationship within the parameters of their life interactions. In terms of screen time as well, the high point of KYY was balance. There was character development since time was given to everything - which is why we all like / dislike characters with so much passion, because we understand all of them, their motivations and issues.

But somewhere along the line, in the craze for Manik & Nandini, we...and hence the showmakers...have started to narrow that focus. Which, while may be enjoyable for a short time for a certain audience, will definitely be a recipe for disaster in the long run. Let's ask ourselves why a story appeals to us - because it interests us enough to ask " What now ? What next ?". And that is only possible when there is more than just one aspect i.e romance. Even if it is a love story, it is interesting only if there are ups and downs.

Why am I giving this gyaan ? Because I really feel our reactions are noted by the show makers...and the current feedback we seem to be giving is " Manan scene = TRP". Whether the show makers should or shouldn't listen is irrelevant...point is, they are. And we are giving very short sighted signals.

We should be happy that in the last two episodes the writers are atleast TRYING to get a broader aspect back - Harshad & Alya, Nandini n Nayva , Aryaman's loneliness ( again , I am NOT talking about execution or storyline here...just the fact that there is an attempt). But we seem to be intent on killing any move that takes time away from Manan romance.

Please try and think again about why KYY worked - a large part was Manik n Nandini, but it wasn't that alone. Don't make this into a ' daily Manan scene' thing...that's a sure shot route to overkill, boredom, and finally death.

Give feedback and reactions - but to improve the show, not just the bank of Manan scenes.

👏 superbly put!! You spoke my mind here. It's just a tad bit frustrating to see the majority of fandom go gaga over Manan scenes ( and that too those are no way close to what it used to be before- will come back to this later) and they overlook the lack of concrete storyline. The other characters are just as important and help to potray different aspects of the youth. You can't solely just depend on Manan.. Manan and more Manan. How much can the writers base the storyline on them. It will saturate at some point. If this serial is intended to run for some more time, the makers have to spin the storyline around the other characters as well. The actors portraying need a reason to stay put in the show.. Else all will leave and then the fandom can get just Pani as Manan and that too for not long.

I for one, didn't mind today's episode. I like the way they are showcasing Aryaman's loneliness and confusion of his place & importance. It's real.. That's how one would feel in realtime situation. And the writers tried focusing on that. I also liked Alia's track today and the way she handled Harshad. They can develop Navya-Mukti track better than this.

Coming back to the 'famous' Manan scenes. There were cute moments between them that Pani pulled off fine but other potentially intense moments were lost coz Pani is just not bringing it to the table. I might be called out for this by the blinded fandom but that's the bitter truth. Look at their body language!! There was wariness there in the past too but not to this extent. They dance but there is so much distance between them that a 3rd person can fit in there! They hug but Nitis hand are always in front or side but not around Parth. They look at each other..but with there is no connection. There is no caressing the face.. No tucking the hair behind the ear( signature Manan) ...
The chemistry is barely there. PaNi seems to be just playing around.. And don't feel the need to make an effort to breathe some life into the romance aspect of their characters. Also the camera work/direction/editing needs to be improved.

And the sets are shoddy!

i can go on and on... My I feel it's going to be a mute point.

Im definitely in the 3rd group...just wondering if we should give up. Maybe we already have...in which case, better to wean myself off the show.

@AreYaar: Nice cliff notes.. And very accurate I must say.

I am definitely from the 3rd group. A relevantly new viewer.. Started watching S1 from last week of August - this year ( what timing rt?) but soon caught up with offscreen drama.
Would like to give up the show.. But keep coming back for more. Kya Kare.. Keep hoping for the best. Let me know @enness how the weaning off works for you. And how... Maybe I can give it a shot too.

For now.. Still watching.. Hoping for something better...

+10000 true...they r making their awkwardness obvious onscreen few cute moments where romance or intimacy is not needed there they r managing well...but in rest u could actually feel a kind of reluctance from niti's side during hugs and from parth's side in doing few signature subtle things of manan. This new team has no idea what PaNi can pull off if given proper direction and needed push to deliver

S1 was hit due to its storyline ...wid bunch of new actors...
Any show needs to b good storyline to make audience attraction...
Even Manan bcomes random without any storyline...

I literally thought I was the only one who feels so disconnected from KY2

KY2 Season 1 was amazing for me up until the New Years episode, MaNan scenes were fricking amazing and beautiful (they still were during season 1) but during this time KY2 was great because they didn't abandon the other characters.

So many tracks were either rushed or unfinished:
1) Dhruv and Rishabs alien attacks was rushed completely at the end
2) Manik and Harshad's feud
3) Nyonika and Manik's relationship, an affair with harshad does not justify Manik's intense hatred for Nyonika to me

@abzy, yes. 'Disconnected' is the right word.
Everyone related to the show seems to be disconnected with the show. There is no life remaining.

Madhyam and Aryamaan ...well they are not connecting properly to the story. Madhyam toh I feel like they have picked him up from some other show.

And Aryamaan's characterisation is very week. I don't know, can't point it out but inspire of his good acting, Aryaman is not getting sympathy from the audience. May be becoz audience is still in doubt that he might turn negative. The poor guy faces insults not only from the characters in show but from the audience as well.and this is because the character is not being written well. It feels like the writers themselves are confused about his color... Black, white or gray...and man, why he bears insults from Maddy? In fact why everyone bears insults from Maddy is beyond me.
For me, the show's charm ended at episode 238.
Now, nobody is interested in the show. They are doing it just for the sake of continuing.
Now a days i feel even parth' and niti's smiles fake.

Or it may be the result of overwork. As niti said in her tellymasala iv, they were continuously shooting as they wanted Diwali vacations.
