CHAPTER 11

TRUTH OR DARE...

After dropping Nandini home, me and Dhruv came back to my flat...I wished him good night and went to my room and changed to my tracks...For, the first time I had allowed a girl to be there and it had to be her, MY GIRL ...I sat on my bed and a smile crept on my face remembering that she was here and I could still derive her fragrance...

I lied down on the other side of the bed and touched the side where Nandini had slept...Then I saw Nandini was there and I touched her to feel her and she disappeared...I sat on the bed and was shocked I had started to imagine her now...I said to myself "God, this feeling...I won't let you go anywhere...You have to be with me Nandini forever..."

NANDINI'S POINT OF VIEW-

I was more content, more at peace to get myself back...I laughed on how FAB 5 got scared of me...And then I remembered Shanta Tai's words about Manik...I smiled...and then went off to sleep...

MANIK'S POINT OF VIEW-

After 4 days...

MANIK & FAB 5'S OFFICE-

The music launch preparation was on full swing, but we weren't happy with the Marketing strategy. It was our first venture to collaborate with a production house and we decided to take the music rights for the movie... It was a big decision...and this also involved the Brand Management, Marketing and PR skills...we really had to chalk out a firm strategy to make our step successful.

Natasha- Sir, we really need someone who is an expert in Marketing and Brand Management strategy...

Cabir- hhhmmm ok... Then why don't we hire someone for the job, I am sure there would be a lot of people who would be willing join us...(Cabir was worried, as it was a big hurdle)

"Cabir you are right...but, Cabir we need urgent help and the hiring process takes time..." Before I could speak ahead, Mukti spoke...

Mukti- Manik, Nandini how is she doing?

"Mukti Nandini??? "(I was confused why suddenly she asked about Nandini)..."Hold on Mukti we are having such an important discussion...and you wanna discuss other things...Please focus here..." I never mixed my professional and personal life...had it not been Nandini's name I would have been more pissed off...

Mukti- Manik relax...I was just trying to help you...

All of us looked at her with a confused expression..."Help?? Nandini...Mukti speak clearly..."

Mukti- Guys remember what she told us about her work???...She is an expert with Brand Management and Marketing...jo bhi tum yeh discuss kar rahe ho...Remember...(she looked at everyone)

Dhruv- Hhhmmm yes I remember she told she specializes in it...But...(he thought for a while and then smiled)...Mukti you are right...we should ask Nandini for her help...

Cabir- Well, not a bad idea...infact Nandini is a friend...Manik, I think we should discuss our problem with her..

Everyone was looking at me as I was thinking about the suggestion..."hhhmmm ok...But, you guys know na she isn't speaking to me (I got upset with that thought)...only if she is comfortable... we won't force her please." Cabir called up Nandini...

Cabir- Hi Nandini how are you? Listen we need your help...

Nandini- Hi Cabir I am good...bolo how can I help you?

Cabir- we need your advice...(Cabir explained the entire problem to her)...

Nandini- Ok... let's do one thing, just email me your presentations and other details...let me study them tonight...

Cabir- Ok cool...Thanks a lot Nandini...

Nandini- Don't be formal Cabir...Acha before you hang up, I was about to call you guys...voh Devika is leaving for Pune on Monday so, we would be having dinner at my place tomorrow...Please join us...Actually, it just got decided a few minutes back...I would really be happy if you guys come too...And, then we can discuss your work too.

Cabir - Ok... give me a minute...Hold on... Guys Nandini is inviting us all for dinner tomorrow to her place...Devika is leaving and she said ki we can discuss work too...

Dhruv, Aliya and Mukti were ok...Cabir then looked at me and I nodded too.

Cabir- Nandini we'll be there...

Nandini- Great...so just send me the files across...Bye.

I then excused myself from there as I got a call...

WRITER'S POINT OF VIEW-

Dhruv- Guys don't you think it has been too long... this cold war between Manik and Nandini...I mean we should do something for them...

Mukti- Hhhmm right...We need to help Manik...nahi toh inki poori life aise hi nikal jayegi...

With that Cabir had a sarcastic smile on his face and everyone saw it too...They knew Cabir had an idea..

Cabir- Guys, Nandini Manik se zarur baat karegi...but no one will inform our'ANGRY YOUNG BOY'... They will talk for sure...Point is how to make them talk apart from work...

Nandini's friends too by now saw that there was a cold war between Manik and Nandini...They too wanted them to speak...

Cabir then called up Sam, Devika and Aryan...he then narrated the plan to all...

NEXT DAY -

Nandini was working form home, so she got some time out to study the papers Cabir had sent... side-by-side she was arranging things for dinner... But, she needed a few more details...

Nandini- Hi Cabir...I would need some clarification on the financial plan and the FAB 5 PR strategy...would you be able to clarify it...

Cabir- Nandini, I am sorry...but yeh sab toh Manik dekhta hai...Can you please talk to him...I am actually in middle of a team meeting...

Cabir then looked at Dhruv, Mukti and Aliya, they started to laugh...As 1^st part of the plan was put in motion...Nandini had no choice left but had to speak to Manik...

NANDINI'S POINT OF VIEW-

I really didn't know what to do...I was speaking to myself and was hesitant "Manik ko phone...Cabir bhi na...He knows we are not speaking...But, this work..." I looked at Bappa and started complaining, "Bappa, this is not fair..." I made a grumpy face... But, it struck me how important this work was for them. I gathered myself and then decided to call him...The phone rang for a few seconds...

MANIK'S POINT OF VIEW-

I was busy in my cabin with discussions, my phone rang and was shocked to see the name of the person calling..."Nandini.." I asked everyone to leave my cabin and then took a deep breath before I picked her call.

"Hi Nandini..." I had butterflies in my stomach. I was trying to be as calm as possible...She didn't speak for a few seconds...

Nandini- Ya Hi...voh...voh...

"Ya bolo..." I could feel the awkwardness she had while speaking to me, I had the same...I didn't realize I was so nervous that I had sweat beads on my forehead, my breath was uneven and heart was beating more faster than it could... After all we were speaking after such a long time...I could feel she was a bit hesitant... I wanted confirm if she was there...

"Nandini you there..."

Nandini-Ya... actually I had called Cabir, I needed some clarification on your financial plan and PR strategy...but, he said he was busy and said you had the details, so...

When I heard she wanted to talk about work, I felt a bit low...But, then I was more than happy with the fact atleast she spoke to me..."Ya, tell me..." We then spoke about work and I gave her the information she needed...

Nandini- thanks Manik, I'll study and let's discuss it when you guys come.

"Ya, sure..."

Nandini- Ok then...

I suddenly stopped her..."Nandini...voh I wanted to say thanks...I mean you are helping us...so..."

Nandini- you don't need to say it...

I was a bit hesitant to ask her something but I did "Nandini, do you really want me to stay for dinner...I mean if you are not comfortable I won't..."

Nandini- Manik you think a lot...bye

I couldn't understand what she meant by it... however I was very happy to hear my name from her...I was so happy that I just wanted the clock to strike 7:00 p.m. and I could go and see her, speak to her even if it was work...I just wanted to be around her...I looked at her picture I had in my phone and caressed it... "Nandini, thanks for speaking to me..." And with that I heard Cabir and others clearing their throat...

Cabir- Don't thank her...

And then it struck me that they all planned it...I was really lucky to have such friends...

7:00 P.M. NANDINI'S PLACE

We all reached on time and then she came running to open the door...

Nandini- Hi, come in...sorry I was in the kitchen...You guys sit, I'll just come...

We all sat and then Cabir went into the kitchen...

Cabir- So, Nandini dinner mein aaj kya hai...

By now we all knew she was a very good cook...We all were in kitchen around her...Cabir looked at the dishes she made...

Cabir- Nandini wowww...They smell and look good...just can't wait to eat them...

She smiled...She was busy making Bruschetta for us...

Cabir- Nandini Rajma...But, I don't like rajma ...Why did you make??? (he made a bad face)

Nandini- Cabir, yeh tumhare liye nai hai...I specially made it for Manik, usse pasand hai...(she suddenly stopped and realized what she spoke)

The minute she said that I freezed and kept looking at her...A smile came on my face when I heard the word "specially..."

Cabir- Ohhh Manik ke liye...not bad...I thought you guys weren't talking...(teasing her)

Nandini immediately tried to cover up...But, I was dammm happy.

Nandini- Voh aise kuch nai...Aryan I meant Aryan likes them...

Nandini was trying hard to cover up, she was nervous I could see it...We all went out and then I came back to the kitchen to get water and overheard she was murmuring something to herself with her eyebrows together and serving the snacks in the plate...

Nandini- why will I make anything for Manik...Rajma...(she was trying to convince herself) voh Cabir...his ears have a problem...I hope Manik ko pasand aaye...No, I have not made for him...

She was fighting with herself and was pouting...she was looking so cute, I just wanted to hold her and kiss her and cherish the taste of her beautiful lips...I was falling even more for her because of her such cute antics... Suddenly, she turned and saw me standing there and got very nervous ...her eyes were wide open and her face had an O expression'...

I said to myself "God, how can she be soo cute...If she keeps that expression for a few seconds more, I won't be able to control myself...Nandini please change it..." She looked away and then looked at me again, I pretended I won't tell anyone...I winked at her and left...

NANDINI'S POINT OF VIEW-

I did make the rajma for him, but somehow I didn't want to accept it...I don't why...but like an idiot I blurted it all without thinking Manik was standing behind... I was really stupid..."what will he think about me..."

MANIK'S POINT OF VIEW-

Nandini then discussed and suggested on things we could do and must say I was very impressed the way she gave us her advice...All this while she kept trying not to look at me...We discussed for sometime and then her friends too arrived...We all chatted and then she went to heat and arrange the dinner...

Aryan- Hey Nands, come I'll help you in kitchen...

I thought to myself "Isski problem kya hai..." I got dam pissed off...Nandini then served dinner for all and everyone loved it...I could see Nandini was anxious to know my reaction on how was the rajma...But, I decided to not say a word... I could see from her face she got pissed off as I didn't say a word...

Sam- Guys let's go out for a day trip, I mean when will we get a chance to be together...Let's got to Lonavala...And, then on the way we can drop Devika too...

Cabir- Hey sounds cool...it's been long time we haven't been out too...

Cabir and Sam got into convincing everyone...Finally, we all agreed and then it was decided that we would start at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning and would stay at my farmhouse...

We all were sitting and Devika suggested we should play TRUTH OR DARE...Everyone agreed...Nandini got a bottle to spin...

So, the 1^st person was Aliya...

Sam- Aliya truth or dare?

Aliya- Dare...

Sam- ok ...Propose any guy here apart from Dhruv...

Well, Aliya then proposed Cabir as it was easy for her...Then the bottle spinned and it was Aryan's turn and it was Mutki's turn to ask...

Aryan- Truth.

Mukti- hhmm...ok then tell us the name of the girl you have a crush on...

Aryan- that's a simple one...of course NANDINI...aur aaj se nai since our university days...par yeh madam toh impress hi nai hoti...but I haven't given up...what say Nandini...(he winked at her)

That was enough for my temper to rise, I just couldn't stand the thought and on the top Nandini was laughing...

Cabir had spin the bottle again and it stopped at Nandini and Cabir got the chance to ask her...

Cabir- So Nandiniji Truth or Dare?

Nandini thought for a while and then answered...

Nandini- Truth...

Cabir then looked at FAB 5...I got a feeling he would do something...I said to myself "God, I hope he doesn't ask her something stupid..." I was looking down...

Cabir- Ok Nandini your question is hhmmm... Who according to you in this room will make a great 'husband'...

Nandini's eyes were wide open...she just didn't how to react...She then thought a lot...I was getting too anxious as to whose name would she take...

Aryan- Aaarree Nands take my name, if you can't decide

I stared at him and I would have just smashed his face...But, I so wanted Nandini to take my name...I know the possibility of it were rare...She kept thinking and then I saw a smile on Nandini's face...She then looked away and spoke...

Nandini- I don't know best hoga ya nai, but...

I closed my eyes in anticipation of the answer...

Aliya- So who is it Nandini...

Nandini- Sorry Aryan I mean you would be a good husband too...But, I feel whoever would marry MANIK would be the luckiest girl...So Aliya, its MANIK, he would be a great 'HUMSAFAR'...

I opened eyes after hearing my name, I just couldn't believe she thought that I would make a great husband...FAB 5 looked at me and they could see the happiness on my face...I looked at Nandini, but she looked away...I just wanted to scream and shout...I wanted to hug her tight and tell her that in fact "I would be lucky if she married me...she would be a great HUMSAFAR..."

Sam- Manik, bro you are too lucky man...Nandini is saying you would make a great husband...kya baat hai...aisa kya kiya tune...

Devika- Ohh my God look at you Manik, you are blushing...

I got a bit conscious...I tried to hide my blush...I could see a smile on Nandini's face too...Then I rested my back on the couch and kept looking at Nandini...The bottle then spinned again and it was Sam's turn and Devika got a chance to ask...Sam then chose a dare and Devika asked him to enact a scene from movie Sholay...

Then the bottle was spin and it came on me and it was Nandini's turn to ask me...

FAB 5 looked at me and smiled...I sat straight and wanted to know what she would ask me to do...

NANDINI'S POINT OF VIEW-

The bottle stopped at Manik and I got a chance to ask him...Not bad Bappa...I chuckled...After all I had to face embarrassment a few minutes as I took his name...God knows why I took his name...

"Truth or Dare..."

Manik- Dare...

"Ok...hhmmm" I was thinking how could I trouble him a bit more...I was thinking what I should make him do and then it struck me...

"Since you chose Dare, so here it is : you have to be DEVIKA'S BOYFRIEND for tomorrow's trip..."

Manik and Devika together- What...

Devika- Nandini seriously (she was shocked, surprised and dammm happy) tu sach meri best friend hai...

MANIK'S POINT OF VIEW-

I was shocked to hear my dare Devika' Boyfriend for a day...was she serious...she knew I just couldn't be around that mad girl...I then looked at her and she had mischievous smile on her face...And it struck me "so madam still hasn't got over with her punishments..." I pleaded her with my eyes...

Devika- Manik I am so happy...You are excited too na for the dare... it will be soo cool...(she came and hugged me)

I gave her a fake smile...And then looked at Nandini who rolled her eyes away...

Nandini and her punishments... I looked up with a pleading face "Bappa what is this?? Devika...no... not this mad girl...and that too as my girlfriend voh bhi for a day...why..." I was dammm pissed off with Nandini's punishment...And I saw Nandini was enjoying my misery too along with FAB 5...
