CHAPTER 8:
Nandini: I still remember humari first meeting
***FLASHBACK***
Meera Ma: Nandu, jaldi chalo..ajj tum pehli baar business meet mein jane walli ho
"Haan ma coming!" I yelled from my room.
I gave myself a last look in the mirror and smiled "perfect!"
I rushed down and was about to leave.
Meera ma: All the best!
I hugged her and left.
All young businessmen and women were invited for a small workshop. I was so nervous about it.
We reached there soon and i entered the huge hall.
I sat next to a really cute guy. I would be lying if I said I was dying to talk to him.
"Heyy. Mint?" He offered.
"No, thanks!" I refused politely.
"Nervous han?"
"Bahaut!" I said.
"I am Nandini btw, hey!"
"Hello nandini, i am manik!"
He extended his hand for a handshake. An unsual current went down my spine when i touched his hand.
"Waise tum nervous kyu ho?" He asked
Nandini: first time na
Manik: oh. Mai bhi bahaut nervous tha first time
Nandini: toh how did you keep calm
Manik: i always have this trick. Jab bhi nervous ho, hold the hand of a trusted hand and close your eyes. Rewind all the people who'll be proud if you ace this. Simple!
I don't know why, but i instantly held his hand and closed my eyes and did as he said. It did ooze out my stress, i was calm!
***FLASHBACK OVER ***
Manik: baby I think I never told you this but i was stunned when you held my hand, i mean you i said trusted friend and..
Nandini: idk manik, tumhe trust karne ka maan kiya so I did..
Cabir: ahem, love at first sight haan!
Mukti: mujhe yaad hai yeh workshop. Tu kitna happy happy ghar aayi thi...so dumb of me mujhe laga tu workshop ki wajeh se khush hai but yahan toh kuch aur hi baat thi (she teased)
Cabir: acha wait a moment, tumhe pata nahi tha tumhari families ke mahayuddh ke barre mein?
Manik: nope. Infact, look at God's wonders na. Jab hum tab mille, we just took our first names. And infact uss full day we didn't come to know
Mukti: rab ne bana di jodi hahahaha
Cabir and mukti high-fived each other
Mukti: hmm, agge?
Manik: fir we kept meeting two three days and then vo mahayudh walla bomb phutta
***FLASHBACK***
Nyonika: manik, yeh fusion ka ad dekha?
Manik: moorthy's walla? Haan so?
Nyonika: we need to come out with something better now
Manik: mum why do you hate them so much?
Nyonika: business manik. Business is everything. We don't know them personally. But they are our rivals, we need to beat them!
You know their company is run by two ladies only. Meera moorthy and her daughter nandini moorthy.
(Manik looked at her immediately after hearing the name)
I heard vo iss recent seminar mein aayi thi. Tumne dekha usse?
Manik:umm, han dekha
Nyonika: good, its good to know your rivals (she gave an evil smirk and left)
Manik's POV:
Ohgod!! Nandini Moorthy hai vo. Mumma ko pata chala na ki i hang out with her a lot toh meri khear nahi.
His thoughts were disturbed by Nandini's message.
*hey. Lets meet up at cafe o2 in an hour, what say?*
*sure, see you!* I replied.
This was the first time I knowingly sneaked out from office and met her.
At cafe o2:
Nandini: tumhe kya hua hai? Ajj itna chup chup kyu?
Manik: han nahi vo kuch nahi
Btw, tum, tumne kabhi apni family ke barre mein nahi bataya
Nandini: my family is just my mum and my dog. Fusion ko mum se sari heights pe pahauchaya hai. Now i need to maintain that. Manik mai kar paungi na? (She asked innocently)
Manik: Ofcourse kar paogi
I meant it, I wanted her to do it even though it would be a loss for zyra.
Manik: I have to tell you something! (I finally spoke)
Nandini: bolo?
Manik: Mai, I am from zyra, your rival company.
Nandini: I know that.
Manik: you knew?
Nandini: ofcourse. So?
Manik: arre so matlab kya? Humari families ko pata chala na ki hum esse milte hai, toh we're screwed!
Nandini: but tum itna hyper kyu ho rahe ho
Even i didn't know why i was responding that way
Manik: i got to go ( i stood up and left before she could say anything)
***FLASHBACK OVER***
Mukti: tum uthke chale gaye?
Nandini: han he went
Cabir: par tu gaya kyuu
Manik: pata nahi yar uss din dimag mein kya chal raha tha
Cabir: firr..fir kya hua?
Nandini: we stopped talking for a few days
Manik: I only know how disturbed i remained during those days
Nandini: and I was mad at you for behaving like this
Mukti: then?
