Shadows of Darkness...Part 1...
It was late in the night, everything was quite. It seemed like the entire world had gone into a deep silence, a silence which was deafening, a silence which needed to be broken and a silence which was louder than any scream. It was killing, has the storm settled or this is the storm before one more storm? Has the worst passed or is it coming? How do we got in here ? How do we get out of this ? Why has life sudden dark turn ? Will these shadows of darkness ever leave us ? Manik sat on the couch thinking all this, the more he thought the more he felt drowned in them..
Suddenly he felt choked by all these thoughts, he couldn't breath. He got up and went out to get some air. As he stepped out a cool breeze welcomed him. He sat under a tree recollecting the events of the evening. How his beautiful dream turned in to his worse nightmare. He closed his eyes hoping when he would open them life would go back to what is was; Nandini lying in his arms, them sharing the joys of life, dreaming and hoping for a future that was gonna be beautiful. His mind played the memories of the night the rain, the candles, the fireflies all blessing their love. How he announced his love to her, how she ran into his arms and sealing the love with a kiss, them laying in each other's arms weaving beautiful dreams of a life of together. All these brought a smile on his face and then suddenly the images of him running madly all around shouting Nandini's name, feeling lost, his frantic search for her being near and yet far and finally finding her at Pandit's house. Images of a shocked, crying distraught and hurt Nandini flashed across. The way she sighed "Manik" when she saw him, tears started to roll from his eyes. He wanted to wake up from this nightmare.
Manik opened eyes only to find Cabir standing in front of him. Manik "Tell me its all a dream and everything is just as normal as it was when we left the college." Cabir "Unfortunately Manik it not and this needs to be lived and survived by you and Nandini together." Manik "How did it all change in a second, how could I let me star go into a black hole, how just how did this all happen?" Cabir "Manik it was not your fault don't blame yourself. Now you need to focus on teaching Pandit and getting Nandini back to normal."
Manik "Yes I have to be strong, I have to be strong for her and me and for us. Pandit will be taught a lesson that he won't be able to forget and I will get Nandini back to normal, i will get her smile back." Manik was determined, Cabir smiled and said "Let's go you need some sleep." They both walked in. Manik slowly opened the door of the bedroom to find a sleeping Nandini. He sighed a relief. He went and sat beside her looking at her beautiful face. The calm that was trademark of Nandini Murthy was missing. He saw all of her wounds the cut on her ear, the rope marks on her wrists and ankles. he caressed them as if he wanted to take all that pain away from her. He kissed her wounds very gently careful enough not to wake her up. She had gone to sleep with great difficulty, it seemed her eyes and she didn't feel anything. It was blank all around her, darkness was taking over her. Manik "I will not let you slip into this darkness Nandini, we will get your smile back, get us back.." He wanted to sit next to her and love her all night but he was human after all. His body was asking for rest, his mind was craving for few hours of calm and quite before the battles in the morning began. He slowly laid next to her still holding her hand and quickly slipped into a deep sleep. Finally of them the dark night seemed to be coming to an end..Was it or was there more to this night? Where shadows of darkness were looming large and threatening to engulf everything that came in its way.
Unfortunately for Manik and Nandini this seemed like a never ending night. Just as Manik went into deep room her sleep he suddenly felt a sharp pinch on his hands. He woke up in an instance only to see Nandini clutching his hands with all her power. She was mumbling his name "Manik..Manik.." Sweat was dripping from her entire body. She was reliving the entire nightmare in her dreams.. Manik tried to wake her up, he cupped her face with one hand as she won't let of his hand "Nandini, nandini wake up..You are at home right near me." Manik tried to assure her..Suddenly everyone in the house woke up loud screams of Nandini calling out "Manik..Manik.." They all rand to her room only to find her holding Manik in tight grip and all terrified. Manik tried to calm her down "Nandini relax I'm here right next to you, see you are safe in your house." Chachi came close and tried to console her "Nandu come here beta!" But she just won't let go of Manik. "Don't leave me" she said in a shaky terrified voice.
Every eye was teary, Nandini Murthy the girl who picked up everyone's battles, fought for them was all lost and broken. She was a picture of a distraught girl whose soul was robbed of its innocence, something died in there. They all made a silent vow to fight this battle for her. They looked at Manik and assured him and left. Manik was holding Nandini and praying for this long audacious night to end...
