Chapter 2 live like we're young
As nandini murthy adjusted her pale gold beaded dress she started at her reflection determinedly in the mirror as she repeated her mantra in her head' a woman needs a man to function like a fish needs a bicycle' .
With the gold dress clinging to her like second skin the strappy black rocker chick heels and her straight hair curled up for a change she knew she was a sight to behold but today all the dolling up wasn't for a guy well , wasn't for him.
It was all to remind herself of how sexy and desirable she was . So what if manik malhotra dint want her somebody else would ...
She had seen it in navya's eyes, the pity and the worry when dhruv had turned up onstage for a duet performance manik had assured her he would sing with her in.
For a split second her heart had logged itself in her throat momentarily taking away her speech forget any singing capabilities but as she laid eyes on her friend and saw the pity that was reflected back in them nandini knew it was time to take control.
And so after her and dhruv's performance she had seen the pandit ji received his and the judges compliments on their duet , taken her leave from him , dragged navya away from her usual bickering with cabir who nandini knew kept trying to stall her and dashed out of the collage as if her life depended on it all the while trying to evade manik malhotra who kept getting increasingly pissed due to her masterful avoidance tactics.
Navya had tried to talk to her but nandini had brightly suggested that they should go out with some of there school friends who were in town and party declaring that low pulsing beats , people presses up against each other and copious amounts of alcohol was exactly what they needed to celebrate nandini's performance .
Navya kept trying to broach Manik's topic until nandini had desperately pleaded with her that tonight she just needed to forget ,tomorrow they would talk .
Navya had finally agreed as nandini dolled up both of them in drool worthy , sexy outfits navya in black and herself in gold . Troubled curly hair and blood red lipsticks completed the man eater look.
They had landed up with the rest of the group in a huge dark bar with loud music and smoke machines but navya gulped uneasily as nandini ordered a round of tequila shots.
Even with her petite structure nandini knew how to handle her liquor but the one thing which drove her over the edge was tequila. When you mixed an upset nandini and tequila with over eager hormonal boys who stared at her like ravenous dogs waiting to sink their jaws into her the entire thing was sure to blow up in disaster.
Even now as nandini stared at her reflection in the mirror she was more than aware of not only sameer but several other guys who had been giving her the old eye.
But the problem was that none of them made her feel desired or sexy or even beautiful , no only manik made her feel like that .
It was , she sighed inwardly quite pathetic that even in a room full of people she had known since she was a child practically , she still felt alone, that even though almost every guy out there wanted her when manik never would because he loved his friends too much to ever truly be with her .
They would always come first for him... She chucked bitterly ...
"Hey nans are you sleeping in there? Come out already " her friend aisha hollered
Quickly touching up her lipstick nandini rejoined her friends on the dance floor as they threw back another round of shots
Suddenly aisha squealed "oh my effing God that is like our song you guys , remember your 18th nans we went crazy dancing to this song. Come on you guys for old times sake"
Drunk out of her mind in the dark pulsing Smokey club with the beats of the music loud enough that she couldn't even hear herself think it was easy to forget about all her problems and to push manik in a corner deep in her mind as she just closed her eyes ,enjoyed her buzz and grinded against some guy.
Said nameless guy's hand were gripping her hips as he nuzzled her neck . As the guy spun her around so that she was facing him nandini looked over his shoulder to meet a pair of dark , blazing eyes fixed on her which made a shiver run through nandini's body.

Well that 's that next we see manik as an active part of the story for the first time.
Warning: this story will have mature scenes and explicit language . Proceed with caution you have been warned. The characters are different and more what I would call realistic specially navy and nandini . The essence of all the characters and their relationships will remain the same .
