Mr. Darcy brought me here. Mr. Darcy and Manik in one line, and favourably compared!
For me, the only aspect of MaNan or Manik that can be compared with Mr. Darcy or P&P is the respective relationship dynamics. Quite similar in the aspect that these characters actually listen to each other. They never forgo the words of each other, instead those words are recorded however subconsciously, and the resulting change is depicted faithfully around the next turn in their story.
Take Mr. Darcy for instance, when EB rejected his proposal saying "Had you behaved in a more gentleman like manner" << FD took it to heart, it needled him but he listened and made a sincere effort to improve on that impression of her's and vice versa for EB. When she heard of Mr. Darcy's compassion and his selflessness, his devotion and honourable attitude towards his family or servants alike, she didn't let her ego come in between and didn't take long to revise her opinions about him and his self-conceit.
MaNan are similarly open minded about their conflicts as well. Manik, however hot-headed and volatile he is, listens to what Nandu says. Be it about his inner demons, Cabir's job, Cabir's love life, now Mukti's love life or internal conflicts of Fab5, Manik actually heeds Nandini's words. Nandini also internalises everything that concerns Manik and doesn't let her ego rule her head.
So the drift of their respective love stories actually make sense with each step in their progress. That's the only outright similarity that Manik and Mr. Darcy have. Because when you come down to character traits, they are both so multidimensional to make it near impossible to compare except for some instances.
Can't comment on Edward Cullen as this looks like his fan club and I am the opposite of that 😆
