And ultimately result come as that Manik has gotten a bigger and more approachable support system than Nandini does. In his solitude Manik learned that he has to self dependent not because of others but for himself. In Nandini's crowded childhood she understood that she has to be self dependent not for herself but for the sake of others. Nandini is obliged to not wanna burden others with her worries because she's indebted to them. Manik is free from any obligation hence his ease in dealing with stuff..

Let me just compare this one to this one.
Self study vs being taught by a teacher.
The syllabus is always same. Same contents. The difference is just that in self study we learn all of it on our own, the same things. We analyze things in our way, we come to conclusions, we experience on our own. The added benefit of being taught by a teacher is that they know when you're interpreting something wrong, they know where you're losing your marks. They help you, they guide you, they give you that understanding which you could've never had on your own. Because they're so much more experienced than you are.
Like my father says, "I've these added number of age on you, all of it is experience of this world that you don't have." So yes Manik learnt but were his beliefs ever counterchecked or challenged?

It didn't happen until Nandini and there's yet a lot he has to learn. The past shapes the present. Manik still has a lot to learn and Nandini does have that edge of wiseness and maturity over him that clearly shows and has always been shown.
And Manik, does have that support system now in his life that Nandini lacks and that's where her confidence goes slack because there's absol no one to help her as a friend, to understand her the way she needs to be understood, to help establish her as just Nandini, to back her up when she falters.

And all of that somehow leads to the differences that still exist between the both of them.
