Maybe a bit here and there it is new but overall the scenes are UN-original! If this is what MTV India gives, then how is it different?
Well shows are not only for entertainment for me, it is a means to change ideas, explore the unexplored, create visions and reflect reality!

totally shws r not just meant to entertain...how can it evn entertain with the same concepts repeatedly?!!
i watch this shws evn whn its quite difficult for me bcz i want to explore somethng diff abt India!!

beside Maanik different cant you find it similar with the characters like asad, maan, arjun and lots other character filled with anger and hatred towards something... ufff i m tired but ney this show is better... i still hooked up with this...😃

Well maybe someone would call them different from Manik but largely I find NO difference! In fact I would like to know how do people find him different from Asad MSK etc!
They better make this show something bigger and different!

Exactly! If it was solely entertainment what I would long for, then I would go for shows of genre comedy and those B'wood movies which has lots of action and laughter! But when I watch something with so much dedication so as to think about who is better and who is not and devote my time for the same, then it can't be just a time-pass! Media is meant to share ideas and we to introspect what is shown and how we can modify it to produce better!

Also @ArchanaRM-- Why I shouldn't compare Manik with any of those angsty heroes of 4 Lions or Balaji? Please tell me how is he different?

As an intro I have been a silent reader in this forum since the show started and I am mainly a Nandini shipper so it never mattered to me with whom she would hook up eventually...

But your topic has compelled me to post lolz...first of all as comparisons wid Bof go...den I think d cvs have made it clear that it's not going the Bof way...from what I have read abt Bof ...none of the characters of ky2 r similar to the original show...esp dhruv of Bof I am sure doesnot suffer any attacks ...and therein lies the main diff...for manik dhruv will always be no. 1 and deir bond though beautiful is not of equals...manik has all dis guilt trip reg dhruv and with him knowing abt dhruv's attraction towards nandini...stops him from going all out for nandini d way u want him to do...he has already mistakenly linked dhruv's attack outside cafe to nandini ...that's why he rushed to dhruv's house after the store room incident to clear any misunderstanding that mite arise between the two...i feel manik is already sacrificing or suppressing his feelings towards nandini for dhruv...

As for dhruv nandini then again nothing has been shown so far for them to be considered as soul mates..if u forget Bof for a minute then it really seems to be some teenage crush between the two...more from dhruv's side..notwithstanding that they really look cute together but still ders nothing there yet
0
As for manan..den weirdly it was the store room scene for me which made me see d unique ness in them...I thought it will be a typical eye lock intense scene but the convo between the two really got me...for me dem trying to get out of the room through the window was totally original he he..I have never seen any TV couple trying to get out of the mess so soon after getting into one...deir whole convo abt manan's fear for darkness was also so so special..

And the sham song with the brilliant exp of manan just had me..ya d scenes today were bit clichd wid nandini being d damsel in distress more times than one...but still manan def has potential...esp d redemption of manik in nandini's eyes and his own will be sum thing to watch out for...and even if I decide to let go off the show someday the sham seq will def remain wid me for a long long time

As for manik...kudos to parth for making me like manik inspire of him being such an ass most of the time...beauty and the beast has always been my fav fairy tale...manan def come close with nandini saving the beast from himself

Personally the 1st episode I accidentally came across was the 'kuch bhi' wala epi.. I was awestruck! I couldn't figure out if he was being funny or unintentionally so.

And then towards the end of the ep..he sees a shooting star & starts to behave aggressively.. I found his character all the more interesting...

Then enters Manik who tries to push Nandani away at the same time gives a protective, caring arm to Dhruv.. (I usually don't like arrogant Men)The last scene where he sings for Dhruv & Nandani joins him was heartwarming. It just stole the show for me.. and I was in awe of this trio.. At the same time curious why Manik threw those angry expressions at her.. there was some kind of strange attraction. I found the anger more out of possessiveness, just not able to understand if it was for Dhruv or Nandu.
They're all beautiful ppl..I fell in love with at first sight. Not able to decide who suits Nandu better since I wouldn't know everything about all the characters in just one epi.. But I wouldn't mind Nandu with either of them..just going by that epi..

And then I continued to follow the show..
Honestly I found DhruNi scenes very sweet & MaNan scenes unusual.. there's a certain attraction b/w them not because they are opposites but because they can influence each other & gel well together like one has what the other lacks.
Whereas Dhruv & Nandu bond well because they are made out of the same material. They don't have much to learn from eachother.

Still when I saw Dhruv with Nandu(in the scene where Nandu hides from Navya) I knew for Dhruv this could be more than friendship..
And contrary to your post, store-room scene made me fall for Ma-Nan totally.. I get your point when you say that if CVs had not sidelined DhruNi then they could make a great pair as well. Sure they would but fortunately or unfortunately in this story there is Manik who is connected to Nandu since day1. (I'm still trying to catch up on the older epis)

What I think is DhruNi after a while would get boring. There is not much scope in their relationship on the "Love" front. There will be abundant friendship & understanding but not much to explore with LOVE.

I still love DhruNi but I think they are better off as friends. AND I'd LOVE for more scenes with them and I know till MaNan officially happens we will get a lot of DhruNi scenes and I'm sure even after that but it won't be Ishq wala love..only friendship wala.

Coming to the character Manik, he sometimes reminds me of Arjun Punj(KMH1) those who have watched the show will know why. He in the start comes across as a khadus, sadu angry young man. But is actually an angel in disguise. He is the stranger who unknowingly helps the heroine in need(neither of them knowing who the other person is).
There he is afraid/allergic to cockroach which the girl handles bravely..Ironically there the female is afraid of darkness..while here Nandu is afraid of rats & the male hates Darkness.
Arjun again shares a warm relationship with the only 2 ppl he loves in the world..His Dad & his Best friend.
[And just for an info-Lostboy/Vikas Gupta whose production is KY2 has been the CV head of KMH1]

So yeah.. whatever Manik is now he is ultimately going to be the sweetest guy from what I see.
And i did not find the scenes any un-original. I don't know how a love-story in school would've been executed😕 But I'm loving the ManNan scenes. Getting locked up in a room may be cliched but the scene that followed was not. It was needed.
It depends on you if you want to stick by your view or see the picture in a new light.

Dhruv what I can say now is actually the most sensible, mature character with a great sense of humour.

Manik actually looks like a kid in front of him(going by maturity) but he suits Nandu the best!

I pretty much started on a neutral front but as of now I have a certain understanding about these characters and the supposed love triangle.

The basic premise for each of these character on surface sounds very done to death - yes including Dhruv. He is suppose to be the quintessential good boy who pines, Manik is read as the same bad boy and Nandini the hapless clueless girl stuck in between? But think again , is this what that is happening?

Lets start with Dhruv- He is a passive character yet with a moral fiber which for some reason he has always shied away from expressing freely. You do seem him get perturbed by the bullying his friends do but he never bothered to use his influence to let them see the light because clearly not just Manik , others look for him as their voice of reason. Perhaps he understands that his friends think that by being all powerful and bullying they would cover their own insecurities and demons, so he lets them be while being the silent viewer. The problem is inspite of having such a good grasp of his friends' emotions , he does nothing . He fades into the background too much unless you put him with Nandini or Manik.

Manik - This character is such a revelation , on first face value we would dismiss him as another ASR,ASAD ( never liked them much) but then you notice how very different and real he is. He is not a jerk or an arse just for the sake of it or for his own reasons but he has to be that person because he is the guy who is protective about this bunch of lost kids who strut around as Fab5 . He has no choice but to pretend as a bad boy because he cannot be weak or else his friends like Dhruv, Alya and Mukti would just fade. He holds on to the fab5 like a little kid who is afraid to part with his beloved toy. Fab5 is his family and he is their protector of sorts. For long he has lived under the pretense of being the bad boy but with Nandini he is forced to retrospect himself and his actions. She is making him look through the pretense and for the first time he is realizing that he has lost the game by being the "bad boy". His dilemma is not about Nandini as much but making a choice about being his real-self yet protecting fab5. So , i respectfully object when you say he is the run-off the mill , anti-hero, who is done to death. No , this guy is real, has depth and he knows that how he behaves is not right but his battle is of totally different kind.

triangle - it's a wonder how we want fresh , newer characters yet we interpret love triangles in the most common manner. Why cannot Nandini share two fabulous equations with both these men. They don't need to compete for her attention but both can develop bonds with her of different kind. In any case the serial started off with the fireflies which spelled it out where they were going. Yet why should we demand or want the same cliched triangle battles when this serial is showing something more meaningful and deeper.

DhruNi - These two are adorable , probably very very similar which stems from their own sense of morality. Nandini recognized it and was attracted to this moral connect with Dhruv. She is like a firefly , letting Dhruv open up and making him comfortable outside his secured Fab5 boundaries. He feels that ease with her. But there is sympathy , empathy and curiosity from Nandu . They are so similar that they don't have anything to discover in each other , yet theirs is a friendship and bond which is unconditional. They would always have that. And Nandu's biggest giveaway to Dhruv is letting him feel easy and free.

MaNan- These two make sense because well they understand each other and not just the moral niceties but vulnerabilities, fears and they seem to bring out that passion in each other which is changing both of them. Manik has added fire to Nandini , the girl was afraid and timid ,now after somewhat conquering him , she is confident and not afraid. He listens to whatever she says, however minuscule it is . While she has managed to shake him up and forced him to feel himself again. That accident made Manik hate dark and made him pretend bad while she took to being that firefly who would fight the darkness with her light. This is what they both are teaching each other. They are letting go of pretenses when they are together.

Unlike other couple, these two are not forcing their versions on each other rather they are just viewing the real them , now. Somewhere they are content with it, Nandu knows the vulnerable him while he understands her sentiments. There is respect and acceptance. This is not your cliched opposites attract story ,it is coming of age for these two characters.

I for one would be happy if we don't get the cliched love triangle where the female is passed around as a volleyball. Nandu can have separate bonds with both of these amazing guys . It's not a race where one bond would trump another . I feel the friendship these three share is refreshing and which makes this triangle talk all the more contriving.

How Nandini teaches Dhruv to tame his Pain and anger during attacks and how she explores the reasons of his twinge which was the reason for me to love DhruNi more! I was expecting their story to be much beautiful than the typical Love story which was the reason that I was happy to see MaNan as a couple and DhuNi as something more that that! A different bond but I expected much I guess!

Exactlyi would want this nandini be the dhruv's side by this by making them couple but if this not the way i want a someother character who has her own past with cute looks which is best suited for him i had something in mind but i m not a writer so cant predict but i definetly want a dhruv to be a positive character and he understands everyone so much and his advice like cherry on cake... i just adore him and utkarsh looks so cute... and his voice... awieee...

I agree! If Nandini Cannot help him escape his past (in future...we are being too fast as if the CVs any day read all that we are discussing, then they will opt to change things a bit) then she can romance her Manik forever as for me Dhruv matters more than DhruNi and that is because the unfair screen space given to MaNan!I don't want Dhruv to suffer here and he is a positive character of course but if he is shown weak then I will bombard the Sets of KKY!

I loveDhruv's stare and voice! Uber Cuteness and smexy and INTENSE!
I don't drool over him but definitely his stare is worth a drool! :)

I knew they wanted that but this seems pretty much stupid, the way they are making this! I always knew Indian television to be not comfy enough to handle triangles as they always goof up and they are heading to prove me right, yet again!

Personally, I dont know who to "ship"... the CVs have given off a whole load of confused messages. While on one hand we have quite a clichd relationship with MaNan, the other hand we have quite a cute and adorable pair in DhruNi... tbh, I have watched a fair share of Indian TV shows (unfortunately) and the mass audience always (ALWAYS) goes for the pairing that is a little urm spicy?

I can't really think of a OTP that has had a sweet cute beginning till the end. There has always been a love-hate concept that is introduced for the TRP game. Sometimes I wonder whether or not, audiences find some kind of charm in such couples? Idk, because it doesn't happen in real life... side track there but personally I'd take any scenes with Mukti in em. I know thats not the point of this thread, but knowing Indian CVs and their tendencies to opt for "tried and tested" formulas, I'd take any scenes that have friendship in them over love.

And this is not controversial at all (I have seen controversial posts from you 😆) and if people can't take opinions, well then poo

Haw! Me and controversial Posts?
I am so innocent that I never make them!
By the way what is so controversial here? Abhi toh party (posts) shuru hui hai! This is not even the beginning! :p Let the show proceed and if I still watch it then you will see the intensity of my party! :P
It can be cute to Angsty way! You know that meteor attack thingy can be reason of much pain and spice to the story!
Are you sure that doesn't happen? Maybe such love stories don't end at a note where the two (here MaNan) end up together because of egos, but they mostly fall in love (even if one sided) but that is not the point! The point is...we want To watch DhruNi as much as MaNan! Manik is like Jalebi! Just the way Jalebi tastes amazing but you cannot have it everyday! similarly You can love him immensely but cannot stay with him for long. Instead you go for Dal Roti, which in spite of being simple is something you cannot imagine life just like Dhruv who can be every freaking thing for Nandini! That is how I would have shaped the characters but even if it is the opposite way I don't mind, but at least do not sideline characters!
Mukti Hashad and Navya Cabir is what I am waiting for yaar! :)
I don't want Lovey Dovey DhruNi but they can be much more than love na? Love is not the ultimate thing in life, for me!
Oye! EVeryone is taking opinions! :P
How did you visit the forum today? EVery thing is fine right? Or do you get emergency calls whenever I post? :o
