Kripa & her family are introduced. Kripa is in love with Angad & keeps on dreaming about him & her friends tease her for the same. Kripa wants to go Mumbai to pursue her studies in music but her mother Gayatri is not willing to send her in spite of the fact that her father's friend Dilip Khanna whom he helped in going to Mumbai owns a music academy over there. An interview of Dilip who is very famous man now is being shown on TV .To watch this interview all Prof. Suryabhan friends have gathered at his place. On being asked who is responsible for his success Dilip mentions his wife's & Suryabhan's name, which makes the Sharma family, think that the Khanna's have not changed.
Bobby (Kripa's brother) & Prof. Suryabhan Sharma (Kripa's father) help her in playing a trick to on Gayatri so that she allows Kripa to go to Mumbai which they succeed in & finally Gayatri allows Kripa to go to Mumbai. At the college ball Kripa sing for her friends for one last time. They have a tearful farewell. Kripa and Harshini come into her room only to see that Bobby has moved in. But he promises that her room will always remain her's. Gayatri collapses due to her diabetes. Suryabhan and the rest take her to the hospital. Gayatri insists that she is fine and forces Kripa to leave for Mumbai. Suryabhan decides to stay back with his wife and not accompany Kripa to Mumbai. Harshi and Bobby go to leave her to the station. At the station they have a tearful farewell. Kripa again dreams about Angad. She reaches Mumbai and is very excited
Kripa goes out of the station and sees Naina and Dilip waiting for her. They give her a warm welcome. At the house Angad is waiting for her though his face is not revealed. But before she can reach him she wakes up from her daydream. She sees that she is at the station itself and no one is there to receive her. Disappointed she catches a taxi to go to the house. Kripa reaches the Khanna house by herself & is not allowed to go inside by the watchman but Teddy the butler intervenes and lets her inside. She is made to put up in the outhouse. Kripa comes to know about Angad's show & reaches the venue with some difficulties. Angad makes a grand entrance with his most popular song
Dilip notices her going and hopes Naina didn't see her. Kartik comes to know about her presence in the house. Kartik tells Anita and Aalia about Kripa and they are certain that there will be fireworks when Naina finds out. Naitra over hears and tries to warn Naina but is too high to get her point across. Mannan (Angad's best friend) informs Naina about Angad's arrival and she tells him to call Angad up and ask him to change in the outhouse before coming in. Angad is a little tipsy and disheveled. Angad comes in the outhouse & mistakes Kripa for a maid & doesn't even give her a chance to explain.
On finding out that Angad is in the outhouse the journalists go there. Angad looses his balance and he about to fall flat on his face. Kripa tries to break his fall but lands up buckling under his weight. They are too stunned by the impact and just look at each other in shock. Naina is shocked to see Kripa and Angad being photographed by the press in such a compromising position. She is more shocked when Dilip tells her who Kripa is. But she covers up her shock by introducing Kripa to everyone as their family friend's daughter who is like their own daughter. The party is over and Naina is very upset by the Kripa situation. Everyone offers solutions of how to get rid of her. But she realizes that she will have to take matters in her own hand to make sure Kripa goes back to where she came from. She then thinks about the next day, the day she will be joining the academy. She is really looking forward to it. As Kripa enters the house and is about to sit on the dinning table Naina very sweetly says that all her meals will be sent to the outhouse. Before the insult can sink in Kripa notices Dilip and goes up to him and asks if he can take her to the Academy. Dilip passes the responsibility to Kartik who is none too happy, but asks her to be ready in five minutes. Kripa comes out of the outhouse in exactly 5 minutes. But she sees Kartik leaving in the car. Teddy feels bad for her and arranges for another car to drop her
When Kripa comes in she is made to wait outside by Kartik. Kartik tells Kripa that inspite of her credentials she will have to give an audition. Anita advises her to sing a pop song so that she can be thrown out but Kripa impresses the teacher. The relation between Anita and Mannan is very friendly. Kripa finally realizes that she is not welcome in the family & so agrees to go back to Nainital at her mother's insistence. Kripa decides to leave Mumbai but Harshini comes to Mumbai & convinces her to stay back. Kripa & Harshini are ragged at the academy.
Kripa & Harshini overhear Angad plan to go to a disco and they both also decide to follow. Kripa and Harshini enter the disco and Harshini is dumbfounded by all that they see around them. Kripa's eyes are searching for Angad. When she finally sees him she is in for a rude shock. He is surrounded by girls and is flirting away with all of them. If that was not enough, she overhears him talking about how worthless love is and that it's just a commodity. He then leaves. She is shell-shocked and makes Harshini take her home. She goes into outhouse and sees male and female clothes leading to the bedroom. Horrified she looks into the open bedroom door to see Angad in bed with a girl. This is the last straw for her and she goes out of the house, shuts the door and sits down. Her look of love for Angad has now changes to a look of utter disgust.
Kripa tells Tanya that even if Angad were the last person in the world she would not want to be with him. On hearing this Angad confronts Kripa as to why she spoke abt him like that. She tells him that she has lost her faith in him. Mishti and prithvi have a friendly fight over their wedding and who will get married first. Angad's mom forces him to come to a party in the evening because she sees the party as a very critical step towards fixing Angad and Mishti's wedding. At the party prithvi introduces kripa to his mom. He and Kripa start dancing and Angad and Mishti also dance.
Tanya confesses her love for Angad. On hearing this his mom throws her out of the show and tells her that nobody can fall in love with her son because she will decide who her son will marry. Damini Bose announces that her business will be handled by Prithvi and Mishti. Angad and Kripa are in a situation where they are forced to dance together.
When Kripa sees Tanya leave outside the hall crying she mistakes it to be because of Angad. She gets even more angry at his attitude and decides that she will help Tanya out. Tanya tells Kripa how men like Angad only beleive in using women to their advantage. Kripa decides that she will help out Tanya in whatever way possible.
With Tanya having been thrown out of the show the hunt begins for a new singer who will sing opposite Angad at the big rock show. Anu Malik comes to teach Angad and at a temple he and Angad hear a very beautiful voice. To his dismay Angad realises that it is none otehr than Kripa. Anu Malik tells Angad that he has found the voice who will sing with Angad.
Angad and Kripa are forced to come face to face once again as they prepare for the big concert. There are rehearsals with the two of them as they prepare to sing together. For Kripa this is a dream come true as this is the biggest day of her life. But she cannot come to terms with being with Angad. They are coached by a leading choreographer who prepares them for their big day. With the cold war between Angad and Kripa how will they face each other at such a big concert?
Dadi tries to build a friendship between Angad and Kripa. Their feelings are now heading to a situation of "love-hate". There is a party organized to celebrate the success of Angad and Kripa. Harshini refuses to go earlier but decides to go later. Will Prithvi confess his true feelings for Kripa at the party?
Prithvi writes a letter for Kripa but it goes to Harshini by mistake. There is a misunderstanding again about who is in love with whom. Kripa and Angad begin their tour. They go to Mahableshwar and then Pune. They have a bit of a problem and have to stay a night at a hotel on the highway. What happens here?
Angad and Kripa are touring a new city for a day. They visit the temple and generally the feelings of attraction and softness begin to grow. Both of them try to prove to the other that they are not concerned about each other. Is this the beginning of love between the two?
Kripa and Angad return from Pune and on the way Angad helps Kripa. After the confusion of the letter Prithvi had written for Kripa which goes to Harshini, Anita tells Harshini about how Kripa being her friend had back stabbed her because she and Prithvi were in love with each other.
Angad is not able to understand the feelings he has for Kripa and is unable to understand that he's falling in love with her. Kripa explains the meaning of sindoor to Angad and when hes drunk at night he climbs into her room and puts lipstick in her maang….she is shocked and confused…he is confused too about why hes feeling the way he is. Angad and Prithvi face each other and the jealousy and hatred under the surface begins to start coming up slowly. Kripa leaves for Ahmedabad abruptly without telling anyone.
