Now I don't know how many of you will agree with me on this one, in this post I am not talking about Rajeev or Gurpreet, all I'm talking about is Sujal.
Sujal was my favourite character bcoz he was easy to bond with. A hard hearted guy with soft eyes and an equally soft core, who always did what he thought was right giving a damn to everyone else. He had the courage to speak. Perhaps that is why we all loved him, when he proposed to Kashish on Piyush's thervi only for her future happiness, even though knowing she would never be his, asking his father for divorce for the injustice done to his mother, for standing up against all the wrongs done to him and taking revenge from his own best friend, giving pain to himself all the more. Anyone else in his place would have done exactly that.
But where has the magic of this character gone now??? As I read the update of Kashish's wedding with Swayam and all past updates, I realised that Sujal is changed. He is only an insolent and stubborn person who doesn't want to accept the fact that Kashish still loves her dead husband, (although she may be feeling attraction waves for Tushar). When Piyush had died, he never forced Kashish for anything, understood her pain and agony. He wanted her to realise that she loved him. But Tushar has only one dialogue- "tum sirf mujhse pyaar karti ho!" As if he is trying to hypnotise her with these words.
Oh help! Each time he says these words, I feel like giving a tight slap to this man who seems more like a loafer. Alright, he's Sujal and lost his memory but what sort of insolence is this.
And what he did on the wedding night? Tried to put sindoor in her maang when she did not listen to her. What behavior is this? There is always a way to speak, in love too, otherwise it becomes a synonymn for extremely cheap and erratic behavior. Even todays I remember Piyush's thervi scene, it was so pure, so clean, anyone would be proud to have a lover like that- "Baat yeh nahi ki Kashish mujhe apnayegi ya nahi, baat yeh hai ki main use apnana chahat hoon, bina kisi ummeed ke, bina kisi shart ke." There was no force, no hard dialogues, only an earnest appeal from the bottom of the heart.
And today, when I read about Gurpreet, all what he does and says- hugging Kashish when he confessed to her without actually knowing her feelings first, holding her hands in office even though he knows she is uncomfortable- alright he is attracted to her from his past, but there is a thing called decency.
The rest of the story you all know- hiding in Swayam's office, stealing a file, taking so long to react and tolerating a person like Swayam. Sujal would never have done that. What does it take to give two hard slaps to a guy like him? Sujal never tolerated any shit from anybody.
Sometimes the arrogance vanishes and is replaced by oversweetness and excessive dumb behavior, and sometimes it takes the form of extra aggressive attitude. The character is losing all its magic. Ekta has I think suceeded in spoiling the best character in the TV Fraternity.
