Here's a tet a tet with Aamna Shariff who's been in news for her onscreen chemistry with co-star Rajeev Khandelwal.
ACTRESS BY CHANCE OR CHOICE?
"I didn't become an actress by chance. It was my childhood dream to become an actress. Because I come from a conservative Muslim family, it was next to impossible for me to convince them to allow me to work in this industry. But my mom supported me. In fact, she has been my biggest support till date, as far as my career is concerned. Also, I never wanted to start with the small screen and that too a daily soap. Bollywood has always been my dream destination. But then one has to make compromises initially."
EKTAA A DICTATOR?
"I think Ektaa is anything but a dictator. People have always made incorrect statements about her. She has never forced me to do anything. As a newcomer, it was my decision to work 30 hours at a stretch. And I think, as a fresher, one has to work like this to make his or her mark."
REEL VS REAL CHEMISTRY
"Rajeev and I are just good friends. It was our reel chemistry that made people imagine that we are going around in real life too. And initially these rumours also created a lot of problems for my family, but I never spoke about it to any media house because I wasn't a media friendly person at that time. Moreover, I'm the kind of person who will inform everyone if I get involved with someone. I don't see any point in hiding it."
AAMNA KI MANOKAMNA
"After seeing me in Kahiin to Hoga, many directors approached me, but I never wanted to do movies at that time because they all wanted to cash in on the popularity of Kashish, the character I play in the soap. But now I'm prepared for the big screen. I have been offered some films by big Bollywood directors and two of them are with Rajeev."
I'M NOT AFRAID
"I'm not at all afraid of whether the audience is going to accept me on big screen or not, because I know that they always wanted to see me on the big screen. Some of my fans whom I met recently, were wondering how soon they will be able to see me in a movie."
MADHURI'S THE BEST
"The actress that I admire the most in Bollywood is Madhuri Dixit. I loved her acting in Tezaab and I still feel that she's the most versatile actress that we have till date."
ten YEARS FROM NOW...
"See, I don't even know what is going to happen the very next moment, so one can't say where I will be 10 years from now. But I feel that by that time I will have settled down with someone. I'll also have lots of children because I love kids."
