Ok

Aamna Sharif: Rajeev is not an MCP

By Jyothi Venkatesh

image border1 height267 hspace6On How She Wanted To Be An Actress Right From Childhood Ever since I was a tiny tot, I remember wanting to be an actress, though my family was dead against the idea of my becoming an actress because I hail from a very conservative family. At one stage, I had to kill my ambition.

On Working As A Salesgirl
Even while I was studying in National College for three years, I started working in a boutique as a salesgirl cum fashion designer both rolled up in one, to earn some pocket money for myself.

On Having Done Ad Films
I convinced my mother to let me do at least one ad film. After struggling for a year, I did an ad film for Medimix soap in which I appeared in a salwar kameez. Jeetu Savlani gave me a girl-next-door look. I wanted to have my own portfolio. Though I was very scared to ask my mother for a loan, I did ask her one. I couldn't even sleep a day before the ad was shot because I was worried whether I'd be able to repay her.

On Having Done 35 Music Videos
I did around 35 ads and my mother allowed me to do a music video as well. My first music video was Dil Ka Aalam. My aunt accompanied me to the outdoor shoot in Simla. The music video clicked and I ended up doing 15 music videos in a year and a half.

On How She Said No To TV Serial Offers Before KTH Happened
I was keen on a career as an actress but the roles I was getting did not really inspire me. I kept on refusing offers to act in serials. Ultimately I said yes to Kahin To Hoga because I realized that the role of Kashish was very challenging. I knew the role would enable me to grow as an actor. My gut feeling proved to be right.

On How The Guards At Balaji Refused To Let Her In For Audition
Acting for an ad film is different because it does not require any amount of acting ability from you. To act in a TV serial is tough. You wouldn't believe it but the guards at Balaji refused to let me go in for audition though I had received a call from them after some one there had seen me in a music video. The audition required me to mug up two pages of dialogues. I developed cold feet and ran away but took it up as a challenge and went there after three days and gave an audition. After three days, I was chosen to play Kashish.

On Her Growth As An Actress
I have tremendously grown as an actor. Whatever I am today as an actress, I owe to Ekta Kapoor and director Anil V. Kumar. Initially I did not even know the difference between the script and the dialogue copy. I found it difficult to mug up, when the scripts for ten episodes were sent in advance. I used to rehearse a lot on the sets and think before the shoot about how my character would react to the scene. Anil used to correct me initially vis a vis the graph of the character. You put in your 100% as an actress but if either your director or the screenplay is not good, you will fall short of delivering

On How Close Is Aamna to Kashish
Kahin To Hoga is the only serial in which I am acting now. People wonder why I am not cashing in on my popularity and grabbing a dozen offers. I believe in giving 100% to one serial. I believe in quality. Kahin To Hoga is like a baby to me. I am very close to the character of Kashish. In fact you would be astonished to know that quite often I react in real life exactly like Kashish when I am placed in the same situations. I am the type who'd like to marry the person with whom I am in love. However I will not sacrifice for family values but convince my family to let me marry him, unlike Kashish who is too giving in.

On Her Role in Pakistani Serial Ana
I have a very different role in Ana, a Pakistani serial for which I went to Dubai to shoot sometime back. I play Megha, a strong woman with a mind of her own. I am a dancer in Ana like Madhuri Dixit was in Devdas. The Devdas number Maar Daala was picturised on me for the serial in which I have been teamed opposite Shehzaad .I have been given a totally different look.I have a glamorous look when I am in the bar but you will see me in a deglamourised look wearing a cotton salwar kameez when I am at home. You will find me in a different kind of performance in Ana. I shot for all the 13 episodes at one stretch for director Suleman who is amazing. He knows his taking. His USP is that emotion wise he keeps the mood of the character on. I am getting offers from Pakistan after Humayun Saeed's Ana but I have not accepted because I am busy with Kahin To Hoga.

On Acting In Films
I am keen on films but I want my debut to be the best. I will rather wait for the right banner than hurry up and sign any banner.I want a big banner like say that of Subhash Ghai or Yash Chopra or Sanjay Leela Bhansali to launch me. I will continue to work in serials even after I sign films because today I am what I am only because of Kahin To Hoga.

On What She Likes About Rajeev Khandelwal aka SujalRajeev and I are good friends. I am quite comfortable with Rajeev as an actor. Rajeev is humble and friendly. He has a positive outlook towards life and is not a male chauvinist. He is a very good singer. His minus point is that his anger lasts the whole day. I'd look for the qualities, which Rajeev has, when I start looking out for my right guy. The thought of marriage has not crossed our minds. When I get married, I'd prefer to settle down and give myself completely to my home. Both Rajeev and I are strong headed. It took us almost seven months to get to like each other.

Rajeev Khandelwal: Aamna (Kashish) and I are good friends

image border1 height140 hspace6On How He Was A Director Before He Became A Star With Kaahin To Hoga Acting was always one profession with which I wanted to associate myself. If I couldn't make it as an actor soon or I failed as an actor it was because Delhi where I grew up gives very few opportunities to prove oneself as an actor. I am one person who is very finicky about life. I am hyper sensitive. I always knew that I could write very well. From writing to direction, it was a very smooth sailing as far as I am concerned. Though I was directing ad films for nearly three years back in Delhi, the fact is that I felt that I was stifled because I could make no leeway as an actor. I did not cast myself in the documentaries as well as ad films, which I was directing because I did not want people to think that I wasn't getting acting assignments outside.

On How National Literacy Mission Bought A Film He Made For Doordarshan
I was very passionate about making whatever I was making. I have made short films on various issues. My crowning glory was when the National Literacy Mission came forward to buy a film of mine, which I had made for Doordarshan. I have made 30 documentaries of half hour duration.

On How He Had To Unlearn As An Actor What He Had Learnt As A Director
I have never called myself a director because lets facts there is a whole lot of difference between fiction films and non-fiction films. Today thanks to my stint with the camera as a director, I am not as nervous and jittery as I was earlier. I had to unlearn whatever I had learnt as a director because it was coming in the way of the vision of the director and me. I'd not hesitate to say that direction has taken a back seat. However eventually writing and directing films are my goal

On Serials Before Kahin To Hoga
Kahin To Hoga isn't my first ever TV serial. Earlier I had played Raj in around 20 episodes of Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat for Ekta Kapoor. Kahin To Hoga is my first ever-daily soap. Before Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat I had acted in a serial called Maharaj directed by Shailendra Goel.

On How His Director Moulded Him
I do not believe at all in acting schools. I am of the opinion that one learns only acting technique from the acting schools. Your performance comes from your heart I apply my mind in terms of the characterization. That is what makes Kahin To Hoga different from the other serials. Anil, who is directing Kahin To Hoga is a very volatile person and an intelligent director. Anil and I come on the same frequency because our wavelengths do match a lot. I generally tend to think of portraying my character in a certain way but Anil gives me a different option, which often turns out for the betterment of the character because he understands the basic thread of the character.

On His Aspiration To Act In Films
Yes. I too am keen on working in a film, like Aamna. I am waiting for the right break as an actor in films. I'd like to make my bow in films with directors like say Nagesh Kukunoor, Ken Ghosh or Yash Chopra. My dream character is the one played by Amitabh Bachchan in Shakti.

On How He Is Interested In TV Serials Only If The Role Excites Him
I had auditioned for Kahin To Hoga in Delhi. I guess I was indeed destined to play the role of Sujal in Kahin To Hoga. I am not at all interested in taking up offers to work in any more serial unless and until, the role that I am offered is something exciting enough to turn me on completely and I feel like doing it without talking of the money part. As of now I prefer to concentrate only on acting. I do not identify one hundred per cent with the character of Sujal. I'd say that there is 20% similarity with my real life as far as the character of Sujal is concerned and 80% portrayal

On What He Likes About Aamna aka Kashish
What I like about Aamna is that she is a very genuine person at heart. It takes a lot to convince me. Aamna is very forthright Her anger, her concern and her feelings are all genuine. Nothing is put on at all. People ask us whether we are going around or seeing each other. The other day I told a journalist that we – Aamna and I are going round and round. Apart from jokes, let me put it this way. Aamna and I do enjoy being with each other. We take time out to go out for films, shopping etc. We also do shows together but it doesn't tantamount to us seeing each other. It may sound like a clich but the fact is that Aamna and I are very good friends.

On His Growth As An Actor
You learn from experience as an actor. I have had a very natural growth. I have learnt from every possible shortcoming of mine. Today I am confident enough to perform every character with a lot more maturity than what I could do say even three months ago. I am of the opinion that the day complacency creeps in; you are finished as an actor.

On How He Wants To Follow In The Footsteps Of Aamir Khan
I'd like to follow in the footsteps of Aamir Khan. What I like about Aamir is that as an actor he is different in every film of his, whether it is Lagaan or Sarfarosh or for that matter Rangeela. I'd like to do quality work like Aamir and earn for myself a name in films too, as an actor.

i dont think this one was repeated... i hope u guyz find it informative.

Shabir bagged the role in Kahin... after playing a role in Hip Hip Hooray
If the Balaji bandwagon has the nation

hooked to a chain of soaps, they have also established new faces on the screen.

One of their better finds is perhaps Shabir Sebastian Ahluwalia.

This 24-year-old resident of Lokhandwala says he loves the world of acting and enjoys his space in the industry.

Playing the characters Rishi and Soumil in Kahin To Hoga and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, respectively, Shabir says he feels a kinship with both the reel life characters.

"When I was in college, I featured in a few episodes of Hip Hip Hooray. I then auditioned for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and acted in two episodes. I then got offers for other serials and landed into the roles I'm currently playing."

Shabir, who has also featured in advertisements for Microsoft and Euro Tiles, says he prefers to do something more concrete and fulfilling. "Advertisements are only a few seconds long. People watch them and then forget them. So I would like to act in television serials and films so that I am able to create a lasting impression in people's mind," he says.

A national level baseball player and university level soccer player, the lean Shabir says sports had always been his first love till he discovered acting. "I wanted to pursue a career in sports but that world is seeped in politics and it really got to me and I decided to do something else," he says.

Shabir then headed to Montreal, where he worked with a shipping company for a year. However, he came back to India and pursued a diploma in multi media and eventually got into acting. "I was always interested in theatre and acted in a few plays when I was studying in National College.

When I decided to pursue acting as a career, my parents were extremely supportive, especially my dad. He has always been my inspiration," says Shabir.

Busy shooting seven days a week, he does not get enough time to unwind. "My parents tell me they see me more often on television than in person," he says. But whenever he gets time off from shoots, Shabir says he unwinds by going on a long drive and listening to his favourite music — Enya and Robbie Williams.

'Al Pacino is my inspiration'

Shabir says life has been kind so far and stretching it far would mean acting in a film directed by Ram Gopal Varma or Karan Johar. He reveals, "Al Pacino's role in Scarface is the kind of character I'd like to play."

Speaking of competition Shabir says he has to face everyday he says, "Competition is good. It brings out the best in people. I am a very hard working person, and that's my USP," he says.

Sujal opts out
ROSHNI OLIVERA

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2004 10:37:22 PM ]
TV hunk Rajeev Khandelwal decides to walk out of the serial that made him a star
There's a trouble in tele paradise.Hottie Rajeev Khandelwal has
decided to opt out of the popular daily soap Kahiin To Hoga
. Just a few days ago, Rajeev was awarded the best debutante
(TV) award, for his performance in this serial.

His character Sujal in Kahiin .. has become very popular in the last one year, especially among women.

Rajeev's decision to opt out is apparently because he wasn't too happy with the manner in which his role was shaping up.

The serial has been through its share of twists and turns in recent times.

Rajeev's not commenting on his big decision. "I have nothing to say right now," he says. However, sources say he has informed Balaji Telefilms' Creative head Ekta Kapoor of his decision. He has agreed to be part of the show till they bring his character to its logical end.

Of course, it is going to a huge blow to Ekta Kapoor, who is bound to try and keep him back. Will they work out a truce with Rajeev? Or is there another plastic surgery in the offing in true soap opera style?

When reel life becomes real life…

While Piyush Raheja and Vishhal Mehra was bumped off in both the popular Balaji serials 'Kahin to Hoga' and 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', Rohit Bakshi who was performing the hospital and the death sequence in both the serials, had no clue that the reel life incident was in some way repeating in his real life; destiny had its own game plan for this upcoming television actor.

At that minute Rohit's mother was being treated for jaundice at AIMS (Al India Institute of Medical Sciences), Delhi where she breathed her last on April 15.

"Life cannot be more ironical than this," Rohit is still trying to figure this out.

"My hospital and the death scene were shot after my mom's death. It is so funny. I was asking God 'why is this happening to me? She was in the hospital from April 3 to April 15. She passed away on the 15th and the same night Piyush's wife Kashish (played by Aamna Shariff) dreams about Piyush not being there. The scene where my body is brought home and people are mourning I just experienced all that in Delhi when mom passed away."

"I had to struggle for two years. I would meet people not get work, sit at home leading to a lot of frustration. I would circulate my photographs and wait for calls. Life was very comfortable in Delhi. Here, in Bandra I used to stay in a guesthouse with 26 people having two toilets. Coming from a three-bedroom huge flat it was difficult initially. I used to write my diary, write letters to my mother. I used to call her eight to 10 times in a day just to tell her small, little happenings. She was the one person I would share my experiences with." Introverted and shy, but not self-centred, this Libran lived in Qatar for about 14 years where his father worked and returned to India in 1987-88. He completed his B.Com and a two-year course in fashion designing alongside.

"I came to Mumbai five years back with the aim of becoming a model because all the big television commercials and music videos are being made here. Delhi is more famous for still photography. I did some jobs in export houses in Delhi but I was not too happy. I was already modeling in Delhi; I could have joined my dad's business also but I wanted to do something on my own. I gave myself one year. Facing the camera was a big thing for a shy person like me. I started circulating my photographs and started getting calls for auditions. I was destined to be an actor!" he says.

Rohit's television career began with 'Titliyan' for Sahara TV, which happened without any auditions. "They liked my looks. I played a Muslim character. Initially, it was very difficult for me to learn the dialogues and then to face the camera. Earlier, I had auditioned for ads but it didn't work out for me instead I made it in serials," he says.

'Chudiyan', 'Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain', 'Sukanya', 'Tanhaiyan' followed, but recognition came with Balaji. "I did a negative role in Ekta Kapoor's 'Kutumb' and then 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' (KSKBT) happened. Now, people started recognising me," says Rohit.

Prior to 'Kahin to Hoga', Rohit was doing inconsequential roles - as one of Sudha Chandran's henchmen in 'Kaahin Kissi Roz' and Tulsi's son-in-low in (KSBKBT). "I will be back in KSBKBT soon. My track is developing again now. But KTH was special. I was one of the main leads. I enjoyed it the most because the character was very strong and I had an identity. In KSBKBT, I am Payal Mehra's son, Tulsi's son-in-law and Shobha's husband, and Payal's character is very dominating, so there is not much scope!" rues Rohit.

Will Piyush Raheja come back?

"No how can he come back, they have revealed my face as a dead body. The character is dead, he will not come back. He will come back in flashes, sometimes in dreams. Had they shown that I fall in a khadi and am lost then it would have been possible people would have hoped that he will come back but now that they are revealing my face then how is it possible!" he declares.

Rohit has moved on; he is enjoying playing Nikhil in 'Lavanya'. Although, bestowed with soft and gentle looks, Rohit finds negative roles far more exciting, "because you have more freedom in gesticulating while coding negative roles," justifies Rohit. --By Special Arrangement

Fiyes: Sujal can you tell us about you?
Rajeev: I am a very simple guy, who loves simplicity, from an army
background, if I wasn't acting then I would be an army officer.

Fiyes: Any girlfriends?
Rajeev: no not at the timebeing.

Fiyes: As you have said not the time being means you had one, how many
have you had?
Rajeev: only one, but some problems and all gone.

Fiyes: To be in the respected field whats important good looks or great

hey guys here an interview of both Aamna and rajeev sorry if its already on the forum i do give you permission to delete it if thts the matter but do inform me plz and do Comment and also sorry if the interview looks a bit messy:

> Kashish and Sujal – Set the screen On Fire> Sujal :"…Why Should it restrict my movement towards her?" Kashish : "Ok, Sujal, let's do it this way…"It's cease fire between tube's current favourite hot jodi – Aamna > Shariff & Rajeev Khandelwal How did it Happen – They both wonder! And more so, Because they were 2gether only in 3 episodes. They never interacted really. Still they share a lot – the same screen , food , in most functions they come as a package….'Sir, Kashish apni Zindagi mein bhi leke aana, Shaadi Kariyega tho > Kashish ke saath . Aapki Jodi bahut khubsurat lagti hai…' Rajeev > hears this all the time. " When ppl ask me "Kashish kahan hai?' I > remove my coat and tell them 'Dil mein , Yahan hai!' People > desperately want us to be 2gether. Older women get emotional and > bless me – 'Beta , tumhe Kashish zaoor milegi!' The tv industry is abuzz with strong rumours that the chemistry is > for real. Has it spilled on 2 real life? " No , it didn't , it > didn't…" Aamna squeals and jumps up. But Rajeev is cool, "It is so natural 2 happen and I like it. Both of us expected this 2 happen. At least I am enjoying it . I tell > Aamna , ' It is so nice and natural.' In most of the function we are > invited 2gether. People can't imagine Sujal minus Kashish. We have > done so many intense scenes 2gether …. But we are not seeing each > other. I come across ppl who think that in real life I am made only 4 Kashish!" he says."Yes there was a lot of understanding between Rajeev and me despite > not being on talking terms. We were through professionals when it > came 2 rehersing our scenes and we put in our 100 per cent . Today we don't need need 2 reherse. We have got into our characters > completely. Ek bar bus set pe jaao , ek rehersal karo aur take karlo."Sujal's eyes speak Kashish, Kashish , Kashish all the time. People > loved us becoz we were fresh, look of the show was fresh , then those romantic songs, the rain sequences all these did the trick. The > characters gelled very well becoz they were very different while > Sujal was arrogant and egoistic, Kashish was simple, sweet and > bubbly. I think ppl thought that we looked good 2gether. Sujal's > intense performance after he loses Kashish also made a lot of > impact," Says Aamna.Aamna reveals some interesting Parde Ke Peechey facts, " Rajeev and I never use to speak to each other 4 about 6 months on the sets when we started > shooting 4 Kahiin to Hoga . It was quite irritating becoz the entire > unit would be sitting 2gether whereas Rajeev would be sitting all > alone in one corner. I used 2 get food from home but he wouldn't eat. " When he would come 2 reherse certain intense scenes – he would > start arguing that it couldn't be done that way, we would often > fight on the sets and I would say Ok Sujal, let's do it this way…'I > would get irritated ….> He always addressed me as Kashish , never Aamna and I would do the > same…. I called him Mr A (Attitute) and his reaction would would > be ,'Look, who is talking'. It was so filmy!" Aamna has a hearty > laugh. The cold war continued for 9 long monther. When it came to truce it > was Aamna who took the lead. " I called him 4 my birthday party but > he didn't turn up. This irritated me – 'how dare u didn't come 4 my > birthday…' Gradually we started talking and I discovered that he is a > very sweet person," says Aamna. We are now friends 4 life. I have worked with many ppl and got along well with most ppl in the unit but with Aamna it is different. There is a sort of comfort level. I am on very good terms with her mother , > too. Her mother calls up and says, ' Beta aaj tumhare liye fish bheji hai… We eat 2gether. We go together to a lot of places, to various functions , I go and pick her up….I don't really care. If ppl are > looking at us that shouldn't restrict my movement or attitude towards her. We also go for films together. There are times when she > recommends the clothes I must wear and she also shops for me at times . > We shop 2gether from the same designer. Why not?!" says Rajeev.> " So tomorrow if u find me sitting with Aamna having coffee in > Barista don't call us a 'cosy couple', say the weather was very cosy. > I avoid Baristas becoz they don't just brew coffe they brew a lot of > stories too!" he bursts out laughing.

hey guys i found another interview so hope you enjoy it and get to know him even more hve fun reading it and do comment plz!

Rajeev Khandelwal

He loves to ride horses, he has written and directed documentaries, and experiments with cooking to relax. He plays the role of Sujal Garewal in Kahin To Hoga, a man who walks the thin line between passion and obsession. Meet Rajeev Khandelwal, the man who has managed to touch so many hearts and sent the TRP ratings flaring. Sindhu V. Roy chatted with him for Showbizindia.com viewers, as Rajeev tells it like it is.

SB : Where is Rajeev Khandelwal the man from?
RK :
I am here to realize my dreams and give a shot at making them a reality. I come from an Army background, and have done my degree in chemistry and science from St Xaviers, Ahmedabad, although I am originally from Rajasthan. I had joined engineering but I quit within two months and joined Xaviers because it was too boring, and I wanted to join something that had more co-curricular activities, more creative stuff. I did try to get into the army but my form was rejected, so then I decided to give acting a shot because at least I could make an effort to join the field of my dreams.

SB : So how did you reach Mumbai city?
RK :
I came to Delhi and went through the usual struggle you know. The first year went in just survival and I started writing and directing some documentaries, on social subjects like old age, women labour, a few on the Indian army. I directed a fiction series for DD, called Samarpan on the guys in the para-military forces who won the highest award, we shot in Kashmir.

Then I produced a pilot for a series, wanted to go big, and burnt my fingers, (he shrugs stoically) and that's how I came to Bombay finally. I came to sell the product I had made, of course I was down in terms of finance since I had lost a lot of money, and the product did not find any buyers. I thought fine, I had always wanted to be in the limelight as an actor anyway, I had even acted in a couple of serials at DD while in Delhi. But that did not take me anywhere. I was told by a number of people that I should at least try at acting, and I went in for an audition just to find out if I deserve all that appreciation which I got from people, and also to check my own self confidence whether I can stand out as more than a face in the crowd.

And then commercials started happening, one led to the other, like the ones for LML Bike, Green Label whiskey, Kodak express, to name a few. I did make some good money with these.

SB : In the meantime was you family supportive of your career decision?
RK :
No they did not since I was a good student and like all parents mine too wanted me to join civil services, but now they see me around on the screen more, and they feel that I probably have it in me,and maybe I will .. some day.. (he trails off modestly).

SB : How did you storm the Balaji bastion then?
RK : When I was in Delhi they had come to audition for some shows of theirs, and I was prompted by my friends to give it a try. I thought well there was no harm, and I auditioned for Sujal Garewal's character, and today I am playing Sujal Garewal.

SB : Is this your first serial?
RK : This is my first main role in a serial, though I actually featured in the first story of Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat. I was the main protagonist, but it came and went so quickly. Then for the next six to seven months I waited it out till this show was launched because I had a conviction that this show, the content, the way we were working, the director everything put together, should work in our favour.

SB : Tell us a little bit about the role…
RK : I am playing Sujal Garewal who is a very intense and passionate guy who believes in himself a lot to the extent he does not believe in others. He is very passionate whether it is work, whether it is love, whether it is jealousy...

In fact you do have negative shades creeping in…?
RK :
I walk on a very thin line between positive and… you can't call it exactly negative… since it is a very human trait. Wanting to take revenge... it is more that he wants to rectify the things that have gone wrong in his life. It is a very thin line that I love treading on.

SB : Are you anything like that in your life?
RK :
Hmmm, in my personal life I am a very simple guy. I mean I am not complicated even though I come across like that. I am not like Sujal except that like him, yes, I believe in myself and I do not care what others think about me, unless my conscience pricks me. The similarity ends there, the rest is just a portrayal. But I could understand the character because it is a very human character, there are real emotions like love-hatred-jealousy. The man undergoes all of these, but even after seventy or so episodes I have people who come up to me and say we understand you. Which means that they understand the character.

SB : Honestly how would you say the serial is different from the other prime time soaps airing now?
RK : There is nothing novel about the show, but for the treatment. And the fresh appeal of the actors and the whole packaging, that is appealing. The slot of eleven is not meant for the youth, and yet the show is doing well with all audiences, right from children of ten to people of seventy who come and tell us we love your show. Especially in today's competitive times we could manage without a big star cast we have held our own. Our TRP ratings have gone up. Of course it's a very intense romantic story, which is all through helping us.

SB : Can you give us a hint how it is going to turn out?
RK :
I cannot tell you that but I can tell you that the serial is going to get more intense, we are yet to touch the peak, and the graph is going to go right on up, maybe some twenty-thirty episodes here on you will see it.

SB : What expectations do you have for future work?
RK :
Obviously like any actor my Mecca-Medina is also cinema, but television as of now is no longer a small medium. At time the kind of popularity some television actors enjoy is far more than the people who do films even. It is a different feeling altogether of course, I love television because I have received amazing affection from people. But, to be a part of celluloid is a dream for any actor, so it is my dream too. I look forward to working in films, I do not have any particular role in mind, I would do anything that my instinct tells me to do.

I am not approaching people directly for film right now, I am sending out feelers through most of my interviews that yes I would want to do something on celluloid.I want to give my best to this show as of now, I don't believe in doing three to four shows. This first one has given me satisfaction and peace, and I would want to give my best here first.

SB : What is a personal challenge for you as an actor?
RK :
The most challenging part for an actor is to make people feel for you, although Kashish in the serial deserts me in just about the thirteenth episode, I pursue her knowing she is a married woman and should not be looked up to. I still get the sympathy. That is important because it is not just your acting; it is your mannerism, your eyes, and the whole package. The other person has to feel your pain. There have been people who come and tell me, 'Rajeev you should not cry, you make me cry with you.' That is … what is difficult and what I could just manage.

SB : In the future what would you like to try?
RK :
I would love to try action, I am very good at out door sports, I love riding horses and am very adventurous, so I would love to do action. Action comes very naturally to me. I would love to jump over cliffs, and I do rock climbing too, because I love taking risks.

I feel I can carry it off humour too. I don't think its too difficult to cry in front of the camera. I do use glycerine, yes, one has to when one gives a shot ten times. But I would love to do a film like Hera Pheri, the timing was fantastic in the movie. As for dancing, I have been a gymnast and I am very flexible, so I think I would do it fine

SB : How has it been working for Ekta Kapoor?
RK :
Ekta Kapoor is a workaholic who knows her job very well. She is very passionate about her work; and it is this passion she transcends to other artistes, whoever can absorb it can do well. I was given a brief about my character by her, a brief that was as passionate as the character that I am portraying. She is pretty clear about every show is, it is very important the person who conceives the shows be crystal clear about the characters and this clarity was given to me. I think she has been okay with my portrayal.

SB : Any Kashish in your personal life?
RK :
The only special person in my life is me, I am in love with myself. And nobody comes before me for me:)

SB : Your inspiration if any?
RK :
Shahrukh Khan. Not necessarily for his acting but for whatever he achieved for himself in such a short span of time with confidence.

SB : What are Rajeev Khandelwal's interests in life?
RK :
I love cooking, yes. I love making my own food. After packing up I shut myself up in my house and just maybe put on some music and think of what experiment I am going to make with my food. I love it. I have been cooking for the last six years, and I don't even enjoy my mom's cooking so much anymore. Purely experimental. I would boil some lauki, I would put in some sprouts, chopped mushrooms, and have it with brown bread, of late with olive oil.

SB : Anything more?
RK :
I am a Libran, born on the 16th of October, my favourite colour is black. I appreciate sincerity and honesty and I look for the same in others. I cant stand injustice I can't take it, I am not a very social guy.

I feel you have to believe in goodness, I have been told there are set patterns but I've never followed that. I think if you do good work, I hope it will be enough.

SB : Any message to Showbizindia viewers?
RK :
Believe in yourself, believe in God, believe in destiny, believe in luck; but most importantly believe in yourself it will show.
