Maithali arrives in the Mehra Mansion she sits herself down in the study room table and starts setting out books, she puts her pens and pencils by her right and her rubber and sharpener in the centre.
A: how sad!
Maithali turns around to see Adi standing with his arms folded in the door way, she ignores his comments
M: Well look who decided to turn up, look am only doing this because I was asked to by chachu otherwise I wouldn't have even thought about helping a peanut brain like you… ok, now hurry up I have things to do after this
A: whatever
Adi walks over to the table lazily; he takes one look at the size of the English book and is left speechless to see so many books laid out in front of him
M: ok Adi at the moment we are studying Shakespeare…
A: what dah?
M: your kidding me? You do know who Shakespeare is right?
A: yeah of course I do … his some guy who likes reading and stuff???
Maithali bursts out laughing: omg you don't know who Shakespeare is (she continues laughing) I have to tell everyone… (she looks at Adi who is looking at Maithali with a confused expression) ok ok sorry its not funny. William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright, he is seen as one of the greatest writers in the English language, blah blah blah…Hamlet… blah blah Macbeth …
Adi stares at Maithali thinking god this girl can talk look at her go she is like a broken record that just won't shut up
M: adi… adi!!! Are you listening to me?
A: um yeah yeah I heard everything you said
M: really?
Adi nods his head like a five year old
M: tick hai… who wrote Hamlet?
A: Macbeth?
M: sorry?
A: Macbeth wrote Hamlet
M: you're kidding me? What did I just say?
A: (Adi replies innocently) actually you talk too much if you talked little but in detail maybe I wouldn't fall asleep
M: I see … chachu!!!
Adi totally surprised by Maithali's reaction to his suggestion jumps up from his chair: ok ok ok what did I do… am only saying …
M: looks like am going to be stuck with you for a lonnng time… (Maithali takes a few minutes to think) right what I want you to do is search the net and see what information you can find on William Shakespeare, read it and write down anything you feel is important… can you do that …
Adi nods his head
M: good boy and if you do good teacher will buy you a bar of chocolate what do you say hmm... (Maithali states sarcastically clapping her hand)
A: whatever
An hour flows by and Adi seems to be busy in what he is doing, Maithali sits staring at Adi, who is constantly fidgeting with his pen like a five year old
M: have you finished yet
A: wait!!!
M: excuse me? I am your teacher and you will talk to me in a respectful way, now say what you just said in a polite way
A: what your having a laugh
Maithali stares at Adi with her arms folded
A: you're serious? ... idiot
M: sorry? Chachu!!!
A: sorry!!! sorry, am nearly done could you please give me a few mintues… please!!!
M: that's better… such a good boy (Maithali pinches his cheek)
She sits back on her chair still looking at Adi, she cant help thinking how sweet he looks when he is in deep thought, she grins a little 'just like a kid'
A: did you say something
M: nahi tu?
After Adi finishes his work he hands over the paper to Maithali who scans through what Adi has done
M: Adi this is really good, how did you get all this information from the internet so quickly and the quotes its brilliant – but I don't understand how can you know so many quotes, you couldn't have read them all in an hour, that means you…
Adi gets up from his sit, grinning at Maithali
A: "Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, myself😆, some achieve greatness, you, and some have greatness thrust upon them". This is a quote from my favourite play see if you can figure out which one it is hmm?
Adi smiles at her, rubs his nails to his jacket and walks out of the room, leaving Maithali gob smacked at what she just witnessed
