Good u made this topic...i was gonna make one too.
I was expecting 95% of votes....i was kinda surprised when i saw tht 13% were against Paro taking this to court assuming that the ones who voted are literate.
Like Vas said there is clearly alot of work to be done.

shananubis: You have a very fair point there. That's what I was thinking myself when I saw 13% were against the decision of going to court. It indeed will be tormenting for a girl to go through court case that involves rape- especially by your husband. I understand it can be shameful and extremely nerve racking. But I think it's time that women stood up for themselves and not let fear/shame/nerves take hold. They should bring justice upon themselves.
If one person stands up to this then deere deere other women will realise that there is a future out there and that there is help available.
It surprising and saddening to see that India being one of the fastest growing economies in the world i.e. becoming modern, hasn't gone far enough to think that there is need for change in the law- especially anything that concerns men/women issues.
I hope one day by the work of many, it'll all change.

totally agree with all of you!
i was surprised to see only 87% in favour of paro!!! i was expecting a figure in the 90s its such a shame to know that there are still people in India who think izzat matters more that justice...and what sort of izzat are they talking about?? 🤢 🤢 according to chaya...'ghar ki izzat mitti me mil jaayegi' the izzat of this house will get soiled 😡 😡 what izzat are you talking of 😡 ??
what is more shameful--hidind this hiddious crime in your house or getting you're bahu justice?? 😡
and would you prefer to get defamed in god's view or the 'world's view?? i mean by hiding all this rape thing, you're insulting Godess Sita and by giving justice to Maihtili you'll only raise in the eyes of people...people--especially women, will think their form has been given justice and maybe lots of other cases will come up urging women to take a step foreward!

i seriously think law needs to be changed in india because currently, rights of women in indian law are lower than the rights of Men 🤢
Marital Rape is a crime and women should get justice! 😊

Even I keep asking myself who these 13% are who think that Mets should get over this and live happily ever after with her so-called Ram 🤢 🤢. I had expected at least 95%......

I cannot believe that there are still people out there , who think this is not a crime, coz it happened in marriage and ghar ki izzat is more important......my gosh rape is a serious crime, whether it's done during marriage or outside it. A woman has the right to say NO whenever pleases her and no one has the right to force her......

Unfortuneatly the harsh reality is, that it'd be more than 13% in real life, bearing in mind not everyone votes.

Can't believe this.. To this day.. there are 13% people who think that a family matter, irrespective of how heinous a crime it is, should stay within a household??? 😡 This makes me disgusted beyond words can say.. It's so sad that people think that given the circumstances, this matter should not go to court.. or the fact that such atrocious things should not be made public knowledge..Its this 13% that enables our nations back home to stay illeterate and to treat women like they are in fact their "paon ki jooti"..Yuck... I am so damn disappointed.. ~

Sana~

Di, that was my exact thought when they showed the damn results! Who the heck comprised the rest? Its really unfortunate, but true. Some conservative mentalities still hold their stick at those who try and find justice for such heinous crimes. I'm sure in many circumstances women's voices are suppressed using various threats. Divorce is a stigma at the grass-roots level (generally speaking... traditional oriented communities) and people will go to lengths to avoid it. It is sickening to think that people would agree to such disgusting things and have no remorse. The victim's sentiments are played with as their bodies and then discarded as trash. I'm with you Di, this is so disappointing and disgusting. They definately should go to court... and have you seen that pig's reasoning and attitude? I want to strangle him so dearly... pathetic boneless piece of .....

Cheers,

dc
