The portrayal of rape was horrifying and disturbing to watch and seeing Mets go through the atrocious crime. Just when I thought nothing worse can be shown as was shown in KZK with Mukti, but this was as appalling and disgusting.
People here have mentioned Pranay and thoughts from his point of view; I just want to add that it didn't take the rape to make Pranay the insensitive and malicious animal he has become. He has tortured Mets before mentally first by sleeping with another women numerous times, also punishing her for his so-called lost identity. And even had the audacity to bring another woman to live with him, in the same house as his wife was living in. Yes he was on the 'amending' track, and did realise his mistakes, but it was too late the damage he caused with Mets was already done. Mets had suffered enough already, and even with all the worlds change he did not deserve Mets. Maybe that's the main reason I disagreed with Paro's action in sending Adi away.
I could not see any reason why with what Pranay did Mets should forgive and forget, had Pranay just simply been misled and forced into the actions he did 'maybe' then there was scope of forgiveness. But what Pranay did, he did that intentionally, so deserved the consequences of losing Mets forever. I personally think those were enough grounds for Mets to move on without Pranay, be it with Adi or someone else, somewhere I feel this rape was depicted to justify Mets falling for Adi, as Ekta couldn't show a married woman moving on, not with all the social issues that come to it. It's sad but that's the sick reality and happens around many places.
On its representation so far it has been handled as sensitively as they possibly could, with such a crime I don't know where you could possibly draw a balance. I rather preferred it if they hadn't shown such a crime in the first place. But it's the aftermath of the crime and its depiction in all Ekta shows that miff me to no end. Be it with KT, Mukti, Nandani, why is it that the victim is always shown to need a Tulsi, a Prerna and now the way the things are going Mets needing Paro. I totally agree with you Vasu, that in the real life a lot of woman's who go through such crimes don't have Tulsi's, Paro's Prerna's by there sides to fight for them. Why show the leading ladies all 'mahaan' just in the name of the TRPs, or just for the sake that they are leading ladies???? Why can't the leading lady's take the backseat and forefront the actual victims at centre stage to fight the battle??? I much rather watch Paro providing constant support to Mets, but encouraging her to fight this battle herself, and make sure woman's out there who suffer such crime are inspired and encouraged to take actions themselves, and not to wait for a Paro or a Tulsi to come along in there lives to assist them. Now that would bring the much needed realistic and sensitive touch, and a great example to the viewers how to tackle such repulsive crimes.
That's why I don't want Adi or even Paro to go the extent that they actually fight this battle for Mets, but rather encourage and persuade Mets to fight for her rights and more importantly for her self-respect. And what we have seen of Mets she has great potential and competency to carry the centre stage of the show. I hope it goes this way, and for once Ekta can portray her actual victims with equal force, authority as she show's her leading ladies.
