Chapter 38

Adi and Maithili came down for breakfast and were being stared at as they walked down the stairs. Adi looked at Bharat weirdly and Bharat grinned ear to ear.
B; so bhaiyaaaaaa and bhaabiiiii! How was last night?
Maithili felt the colour rise in her cheeks. She quietly sat down on the table and nibbled on her food.
Adi, however started putting all sorts of food on his plates.
A: hmmm…mom!! Very nice food!!! How come you've never made it before?
A: I didn't make it beta! Maithili did!
As soon as mayuri said that adi spat it out..
A; uh…when did you make it?
Mai: when you had your hour long shower!
Bharat laughed and Adi glared at him
Bharat continued: so bhabhi…was bhaiya good last night…I mean is he a good kisser?
Maihtili coughed out her food and looked at Bharat. Adi began kicking bharat from under the table
B: ow ow!! Ok ok!!!
Tannu came into the house
T: hi bhai! Di! Dumbo!
B: why do I get called dumbo??
A: coz you are!!!
B: ok ok!!!
Tannu smirked at Maihthili and whispered into Bharat's ear.
Bharat smiled and turned to Maithili

B: bhabhi…do you think bhaiya is heavy??
Maithili was on the verge of getting up and leaving out of embarrassment when asked the question. Adi stood up
B: ok ok!! I get it! Bharat said running slightly back.
B: but bhaabi!! I think he's heavy!!! I don't know how you managed last night with this one tonned pig laying on you!
A; BHARAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adi started running after Bharat and maithili covered her face with her hands
When adi came back he didn't even glance at maithili, he simply ate his food and was about to get up when shikhar sat down at the table.
S: so adi beta! Enjoying your first day being married!!
A: oh yeah!! Sure! Adi grumbled sarcastically.
A: uh yeah dad!! Its…great! He said with a fake smile
S: well then! Where do you want to go on a honeymoon!!
This was the second time adi and maithili coughed up their food.
"uh dad! We don't want to go!!" both yelled across the table to shikhar.
Shikhar was taken aback.
S: uh…is everything alright?
Maihtili quickly spoke kicking Adi's foot
M: papa...everything's fine! Its just…uh…we don't want ot go on honeymoon just yet! I mean…uh we want to spend time with the family?
She questioned rather than answered
A: yes yes! Adi joined in.
Shikhar looked unconvinced
Mayuri was about to question them but maithili spoke.
M: uh dad! Adi…Adi wants to join office!
Adi was on the verge of throwing up after coughing up his food for the third time.
M: he..he wants to stand on his own feet! He wants to become a successful business man and only then will we go on honeymoon!

Shikhar had tears in his eyes now and so did mayuri.
S: beta!! He got up and held his arms out. Adi got up too thinking Shikhar would hug him, but shikhar hugged maithili
Adi gaped!
S: beta! I knew you were the best choice for my adi!! Its only been one day of your marriage and you've turned him into a responsible man already!
Adi grumbled curses and went upstairs.
As soon as maithili entered the room adi began shouting at her.
A: WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!!! Why can't you let me live in peace!!! Why the hell do I have to go to office!!! You are sooo!!!!! Arrgh!!! WITCH!!!!!
Maihtili squinted her eyes and sharply stared at him.
M: shut-up! She seethed in a quiet voice…they might hear you!
Adi lowered his voice but continued to scold her in his whispers..
A: I'm not going to office!! And what was that speech about!! How lame was it!!! 'I want ot stand up on my own feet' he mocked her
Maithili rolled her eyes
She didn't seem to thin adi would ever stop, so she held her hand over his mouth. The moment she did so, sh efelt tiny electric shocks go up her arm by touching his lips.
Adi stopped, not by the fact that she prevented him talking, but by the fact that she was toucing him, his lips.
Both stared into each others eyes, as if conversing.

Adi suddenly grabbed maithili's waistand pulled her close. Maihtili was startled but before she could say anything, the door flung open. Bharat was standing on the door frame.
B: uh…sorry for disturbing you two…but dad wants you to join office from today!
Bharat quietly left and adi's anger brewed up again.
A: I'M NOT GOING TO OFFICE!!!
Maithili had had enough! M: YES YOU ARE!! You can't stay home all the time and be useless as always!! You're married now!! How are you going to earn!!! You can't live off you're dad's money all your life!!! If you care for your dad even a little, then you wouldn't disappoint him and you would GO to office today!!! Maithili thrust a black suit into his hands and left the room.

Maybe it was in her voice, or her look, her glare, her words or even the way her lips curved while she spoke, but whatever it was, Adi was silent. He didn't argue back. He silently dressed in his suit, ready to go to office
