Chapter 29

Maithili woke up yawning in the morning, she was extremely tired from the practice last night and frowned at the thought of going to dance rehearsals with Adi again…
She stretched and opened her room window. Unfortunately for her, Adi too was at his window. He was wrapped merely in a towel round his torso and his hair dripping wet.
Maithili stared at Adi, eyes wide, she opened her mouth. Adi stared back at her confused, but slowly realized what she was staring at. He let out a smirk and winked at her. Maithili tore her gaze away from him and frowned… "na jaane kiska moo dekh liya subhe subhe!"
Adi grinned and shut the curtains.

Later that day, during dance rehearsals…Adi would continuously grin at Maithili..
Maithili could not take it any more..
M: kya hai!! She asked irritably…what's your problem??
A: you think I'm hot…don't you…adi said cheekily
Maithili sarcastically smiled back at him…: IN YOUR DREAMS!!!
She huffed and turned away, but adi caught her hand. He tugged her back and she collided against his chest. From behind her he whispered…
"don't lie…" she tried to struggle lose, but he was far too strong for her. She sighed and gave up..
M: adi..if you don't leave me right now…then I'll
A: then what maithili? Adi said, with his lips brushing against her ear. A shiver went down maithili's back and she stopped breathing for a second..
M; then I'll…I'll
A: you'll…
M: i…
Adi slowly turned maithili round so she faced him. Her eyes met his. His forehead touched hers. She stared stunned at him. Colour rose in her cheeks making them turn scarlet. Her insides lurched as he pulled her tighter into his grasp. Their noses touched and suddenly she felt her self being twirled around. She had no idea what she was doing but it seemed to her :- Adi was dancing…
She automatically joined in. She twirled towards him and out again. She ran to him from a distance and he lifted her up in the air. She sustained the poise very elegantly and slowly came back onto her feet. The beat of the music quickened and she felt her feet move faster. She felt herself letting go, letting go of everything surrounding her. She only stared at his eyes, not moving her gaze for even a second for she was afraid, afraid to loose all, to come back to reality from this…dream?
But it was not a dream; she was truly flying in his arms. He passionately tugged her into his arms and dropped her in his arms at the end of the song.
In the inclined position, she still stared at his eyes, and he, back at hers.

She heard a theatre of claps and this broke her contact…she turned round to see the whole year group clapping at her and Adi…She saw Janki Dadi, Bharat, tannu and all her friends. She slowly got out of adi's arms and stood straight.
She smiled at all the claps and praise she received…
Janki dadi slowly came up to the stage…
J: beta..i'm soo proud of both of you! tum dono competition ko zarror jeetenge aur humare college ka naam roshan karenge!!
Maithili smiled at everybody and looked at adi…she smiled shyly at him and turned away.

She had been thinking about the dance all day, and even at night, she couldn't go to sleep.
She smiled and took a breath of fresh air from the terrace. She didn't know why she stood in the terrace…why she faced a certain 'adi's' terrace. He seemed irritated by just looking in that direction, it felt as if she was waiting for someone to show up, but she knew they weren't…she was just about to turn round when she saw a car drive through to Mehra Mansion. She looked down at it. A tall lean figure stepped out with another female presence in its arm…
Adi… Maithili muttered…she looked down at him and his 'girlfriend' She watched closely..
The girl clung onto him and kissed his cheek. He kissed her back. Maithili looked at the both in disgust.
M: disgusting!! Swine! Pig! Animal!! B*****d!!! she yelled at the top of her voice…
Adi looked up and so did his 'girlfriend' his eyes met with the raging eyes of Maithili.
"get a room…" she seethed and shut the door.
