Chapter 28

Maithili got up fairly early in the morning and went to mallishka's room to wake her up, but to her dismay…she realised mallishka no longer lived in the same house anymore…
She shook her head and turned away.
She got ready for college and went down for breakfast..
"di!!!" she screamed as she ran over and hugged mallishka. Mallishka laughed and hugged Maithili back..
Ma: how are you here?
Mall: maybe because I live in the house next-door!
Maithili laughed and hugger her again.. "I missed you soo much!"
Mall: me too!

J: ok ok bacho! You two can chat later on! Maithili beta, I have a request…
M: what dadi! You're requesting me?? Of course I'll do it!
J: sochlo! Ek baar ha kehdiya toh peeche nahi hat sakti!
M: dadi 100% yes!
J: I've entered yours and Adi's name in for the intercollege dance competition!
Maithili's jaw dropped as she digested what janki dadi just said to her..
M: dadi….how could you do that??
J: told you after saying yes, you can't back out!
M: but dadi…
J: no means no! now go to college…adi's in there already...and meet you're choreographers there!
Maithili frowned and went to college

In the college hall, she found adi sulking.
M: adi..
A: STOP!!! I don't want to hear anything from you!!! just because I came to you last night doesn't mean you tell janki dadi to enter me in for the dance…that too with you!!!
Maithili got annoyed: well MR. Vikram-Aditya Mehra!!! I didn't tell dadi to enter you in and fyi..i'm entered in as well!!!
A: I don't care!! Its because of you that I was entered in!!!
M: shut-up!!
A: no you!
M: you!
A: you!!
"SHUT-UP BOTH OF YOU!!!" adi and maithili turned round to find Tannu and bharat standing in the doorway..

B: are you two crazy!! Stop yelling and fighting!
A: who are you to tell me that??
B: your choreographer!
Adi stood gutted while Bharat grinned..
T: and mets di..i'm a choreographer too!
It was maithili's turn to stand shocked..

"1 2 3 go!…." adi and maithili started dancing as instructed by their 'choreographers'
B: no no no!! adi! You're doing the steps wrong!!
A: shut-up bharat!!
Adi yelled..
B: excuse me!! I'm not your brother! I'm your choreographer!
A: Bharat…
Adi threatened and bharat hid behind maithili for cover. Maithili laughed as Adi gritted his teeth..

The dance started again and this time it was tannu who shouted..
T: maithili!!! Stop it! What are you doing!!!
Adi cracked up as tannu scolded maithili.
Maithili seethed silently and glared at Adi..

Adi put his hand forewords and maithili grabbed it. She spun round and into his arms…doing so, she stumped her heels onto his feet..
A: owwww!!!
Adi yelled..
T: bhai!! What happened..??
Tannu went over concerned while Maithili and Bharat laughed their hearts out…
M: and that my dears…is what's called revenge!
Adi clenched his fist and raised his finger at Maithili..
"watch out!"
Maithili made a face at him and he returned it back..

The next stage of the dance was maithili to run into adi's arms, and him to lift her in the air…
A: no tannu..i can't do that!
T: bhai please!!! I know how hard it must be for you to carry such a burden, but you have to do that…
Adi and tannu pretended crying and shed fake tears..
T: I understand bhai..
Maithili raged at the two of them and removed her sandal..
M: I'll kill you!!! she said running after adi with the sandal in her hand

Maithili ran into adi's arms and he lifted her up in the air. When he put her back down, she breathed a sigh of relief..
She twirled out and into adi's arms again…adi's hands gripped her waist and sent shivers down her spine. She closed her eyes as adi's lips touched her ear.
Adi slowly whispered..: you dance….horribly!!!
Maithili gritted her teeth, she put her arms round his neck as per the routine, but dg her nails into his neck. Adi yelped and maithili laughed seeing his pain…

After the dance rehearsals, adi and maithili went to the canteen where they were joined by their friends..
K: hey maithili…Karan said…
M: hi karan…maithili replied..
K: you look really beautiful today!
Maithili blushed…; thanks!
Karan even sat next to maithili during lunch and Adi wasn't too happy about that..
After maithili left, adi stopped karan from going..
A: what are you doing?
K: what? Karan asked innocently
A; flirting with maithili and all!
K: oh that!…well I mean dude..she's hot and single!
A: yeah but she's not like that!
K; like what?
A: like those girls…she's different!
K: I know she is dude! That's why..
A: that's why..?? umm do you like her?
K: I don't know…I'm not serious serious about her..but she's nice
A: better stay that way! Adi muttered as Karan left..

Adi didn't know why he felt so protective of maithili, maybe its just because I'm a nice person! Adi said smiling…
"good good! Nothing to worry about!..i'm not falling for her…I'm just nice!" adi muttered as he walked along the corridors..

Later that evening:

Tannu and bharat are in a room, Bharat is listening to music while tannu is reading a file..
T: bharat, cut the noise!
B: no!
T: bharat! Tannu whined..
B: ok ok!
Bharat leaned over tannu and switched off the music system.
Tannu felt a strange shiver when bharat's arms rubbed against her own
She momentarily closed her eyes but resumed after bharat sat back on the bed..
T: umm…here..she said throwing the file on him
B: umm..why are you giving me this file?
T: I don't know…tannu said taking it back..
Bharat laughed seeing tannu's strange behaviour..

Maithili turned on the music in her room and started practicing the dance…the song was tauba tauba from Kaal. Her window was open and adi watched her from his room..
After she finished her dance…Adi burst out laughing..
Maithili frowned and went to the window..
M: wth??? Why do you always have to look in on me…?? It's like your spying on me!!!
A: well I can't help it can I? I need to have some source of entertainment…and since you're opposite me, I don't need to move an inch!
M: do I look like a joked to you???
A: no…nothing like that..
Maithili rolled her eyes and sighed..
A: just worse!!
Adi yelled..
M: ADI!!! Maithili yelled and shut her windows…she moaned and jumped on her bed.
A: I hate you I hate you I hate you!!
