Suyash may be innocent after all

Suyash Mehra (Anoop Soni) is hardly getting any screen time with his reel life wife in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. We all know Parvati didn't marry him for love but again which soap queen does so? Motives vary from revenge to saving her family from bankruptcy or to even covering up for a run- away bride. But all these characters eventually realise that they are in love with the villain (read husband).

So when will we get to see the husband and wife duo bonding? "I think I am seen with her on-screen 80 per cent of the time. But I would admit that things will only get better in the days to come. There is a lot in store," hints Anoop Soni. But how can things get better? After all his wife thinks he is the man who killed her first husband. "It's not decided as yet. Parvati thinks I have killed her husband, but even I can't say what's going to happen thereafter. But I promise you everything will be revealed very soon. That's how the drama and suspense is kept alive in the show," says Anoop. If you are a Kahaani.. fan stay tuned as fireworks are set to go off soon.

Gen-next on Tu Tu Main Main 2

Soon joining the bandwagon of sequels on TV is Sachin Pilgaonkar's Tu Tu Main Main. But this time around the second season will be aired on Star One and the tracks will include Sachin-Supriya's two sons, be played by Ali Asgar (Kamal of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki fame) and Swapnil Joshi (Krishna of Mahabharata fame).

"Tu Tu Main Main is one comedy show which has gelled very well with the audience in the past. Sachin has his own standard of making such shows. I would do anything for Sachin as working with him is like a paid vacation. Besides, I love doing comedies. Swapnil and myself play Supriya's sons.," chirps Ali who has earlier worked with Sachin in Star Plus' Rin Ek Do Teen and SAB's Pratishodh.

There's more good news for Ali, his wife is expecting their second child soon this month.
"We want a healthy child and have no such preferences as such. But my mother wants a baby girl," smiles the actor who has a two and a half year old son.

When contacted the producer and director of the show, Sachin Pilgaonkar says, "It's too early to talk about the show. Give me some more time and I will get back to you with more information."

The rest of the cast, namely Reema Lagoo, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Mahesh Thakur have been retained. The actors will begin shooting in October and this weekly, targeted for a primetime slot, is expected to be launched by the end of next month.

Will the sequel of Tu Tu...manage to tickle our funny bone the same way as it's original version? We hope it does!

Yeh hain Mumbai meri jaan!

Mumbai - a city of dreams, a city that never sleeps!

People from different parts of the country find this commercial capital a beckoning temptress of hope, and thus they choose to settle here to make a living!

Prashant Golecha speaks to few TV stars who left their hometowns and moved to Mumbai for the realization of their dreams!

Ritu Raj Singh- (hails from Delhi)

Delhi was my youth and home; I did my graduation from there. That was the time I also did Tol Mol Ke Bol (Zee) from the capital. Next, I got offers from Mumbai, so I came here and never went back! Delhi is what it is because of our government and parliament is based there. When I came here I had no contacts initially and with time I fell in love with this city. I love the experience of living near the sea. How efficiently people work here makes the Mumbai move at a faster pace. It accepts people from day one. The city pays you back for your efforts. Merit is taken care of and you get your due sooner or later.

Juhi Parmar- (hails from Jaipur)

I was born to be an actress so I was prepared for everything when I came down to Mumbai. I have been here since the last eight years and now it feels like home, though initially I felt like a stranger. There is a vast cultural gap between Mumbai and Jaipur. Life is slow and easy going in my hometown. People get up late and then go to work all the more late! Whereas here a day starts at 6 am and ends at 2 am! Mumbai is a safe city to settle, it provides far more and better opportunities than any other city and the night life rocks! It's the ultimate city of dreams, be it acting or any other field. Also people here give you space. But what is most amazing is the spirit of Mumbai, which perks you up. Look at the floods and bomb blast incidents, the city recovers very fast. Except for the sad roads and congested traffic, Mumbai is perfect!

Sandeep Rajora- (hails from Delhi)

I did my schooling in Delhi, my MBA from Pune - so you can say I grew up in different cities. Here in Mumbai, professionalism is in the air! From the time you step down from a train, from a coolie to the autowala, everyone is a pro when it comes to their personality and attitude. People here are more bothered about work and time - they strictly mean business! Comparatively Delhiites and Puneites are warmer. Mumbai is all about vigour, charisma and opportunities - where one can do whatever and whenever, and kicks me big time. What surprises me in Mumbai is that local trains are always on time! But in my opinion one can life a satisfactory and peaceful life only in a smaller city.

Nattasha Rana - (hails from Jallandhar)
Mumbai is a dream city, an ocean where one can get in abundance. Here you get ample opportunities and loads of independence. It is also the hub of entertainment as it values talent. Opportunities can knock at you're door anytime, but one needs to work hard and have the right attitude. It's a fair city, which provides equal opportunities to women in all the fields. Hard work when combines with luck it spells success here. The spirit of Mumbai is unbreakable. People are very accommodating here. Though, bad roads and traffic is surely an issue.

Aashka Goradia- (hails from Ahemdabad)

My family is still settled in Ahmedabad and I do visit them on and off. I prefer being in Mumbai as one can do a lot here and be an achiever. This city has given me a lot and I can't think of living any where else now. Here the food joints are up till 4 am but in my hometown there is no life after 10 pm. The best thing about Mumbaiites is that they are not myopic. The only hitch is that the people here can be over practical and over calculative at times. But I have also found a few genuine people who shower me with their warmth.

Poetic justice
By: Shaheen Parkar

Adita Wahi
Small screen vamps normally take recourse in over-the-top make-up and bizarre accessories to emphasise their characters.

Or they flare their nostrils and threateningly pop out their eyes. But the latest entrant to the small screen's vixen brigade, Adita Wahi, has resorted to poetry. She spews some wicked lines that she has sung herself.

Claws out

As Shefali in the afternoon Star Plus drama, Saarthi, her character has been sugary sweet for far too long. So it's now time to bare her fangs. "The turnaround in Shefali's character has been introduced through a stanza which consists of some stark lines," says Adita.

"It was a nine minute long recitation and we shot at 2.30 am. I was so kicked about it that I was wide awake and gung-ho even at that hour of the shoot."

Parts of the poem will be used in the show continuously whenever her character is in the thick of things spewing venom on others.

"Shefali is striking back. A while ago, she had turned negative but soon made amends and was back on a positive note. But there was always this uneasiness with regards to Arjun (Karan Grover) and Bhoomi (Neha Devi Singh)."

Produced by Asit Modi's Neela Telefilms, Saarthii has a mythological storyline set in contemporary times.

Lending support

Besides Saarthi, Adita was also seen as Mayuri in the Balaji show, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, as a source of support for Parvati (Sakshi Tanwar). "I was getting married and wanted to take time off. This was not possible at that time, so I opted out and Mayuri's character disappeared," says Adita, who wed director Ameet Sawant in March this year.

Is Ekta Kapoor running scared of competition?

Apparently she is revamping her old serials, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii to compete with new shows on rival channels

Kunal M Shah

It's raining new serials on television. And this seems to have put Ekta Kapoor on her guard. Apparently she is now busy planning out new strategies to spruce up her shows which are already on air.

A source from Balaji Telefilms informs, "We are all set to revamp our two popular shows, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. The creative heads are continuously working on new ideas to up the TRPs. We have already got Gauri Pradhan back in Kyunki…to bring in a twist in the tale."

Razia Rizvi, creative head of Kyunki …, says, "At present we are having regular brain-storming secessions to counter shows on other channels, but the upcoming tracks of Kyunki… and Kahaani… have not been finalised as yet. As for Gauri Pradhan's entry in Kyunki…, she will be there only for a couple of episodes. "

When contacted Ekta Kapoor says, "Yes we are definitely revamping our two shows. I am not worried about Kyunki…, since it has its loyal viewers. But yes, there are a couple of new shows like Ghar Ki Lakshmi-Betiyann on Zee and Nach Baliye 2 on Star One, which can provide competition to Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. As for my revamping plan goes, I normally do that to keep my audiences hooked to the shows."

"As of now Kyunki… will be moving at its own pace but we will introduce a change in the track for Kahaani… by next month. Besides, I am planning to come up with a few new shows. However, it is a too early to talk about them at the moment," Ekta adds.

Anoop Soni's going back to school!

ROSHNI OLIVERA

Anoop Soni has come a long way from the time he was a teacher. And, no it wasn't Maths or Science, he taught acting. His list of students is long, right from Akshaye Khanna to Priya Gill to Apurva Agnihotri. "But hey... I was a young teacher," he clarifies. "I was 24, a fresher myself. And teaching people around my age was a morale booster for me."
So, how did teaching happen to him? "I came to Mumbai in 1995 after having completed my course at National School of Drama. While I was pursuing my dream of becoming an actor, I got this offer from Namit Kapoor to teach. I took it up. It was a great experience because I met all kinds of people — the son of a star, somebody who'd come from Lucknow hoping to make a mark... it was fun. But, soon I got busy with acting assignments and I quit teaching." Life's come a full circle now and Anoop may go back to the acting school. This time, to deliver a guest lecture. "Just the other day I met Kapoor and he was saying I must visit the school for a guest lecture. I said why not?"
On the acting front, Anoop's glad he has been well-accepted in the family drama Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki on Star Plus (he had replaced Mohnish Behl). But a few years ago hadn't he taken a break from TV for films? "I was doing quite a few films at the time. It was just a two year time-out that I took from TV. I'm doing both now."
So, is he satisfied with the way his career has progressed? "I won't say I'm absolutely satisfied. But, yes, I'm content to the extent that I know I have put in my best in every film or TV show. And I have got appreciation for it."

Shweta buries the hatchet with Balaji

Once upon a time Shweta Kwaatra was pegged as Ekta Kapoor's lucky mascot. She played Esha in Sony's Kkusum and as Pallavi in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, the actor mesmerized the telly junta with her vampish charm. Who can forget her freeze frame evil act with flared nostrils, arched eyebrows, coupled with a wicked nasal laugh, as she around making life hell for Parvati bhabhi.

But later Shweta had a fallout with Ekta (on monetary issues as speculated or was it something else) and thus opted to bid adieu to the Balaji shows. Though for a long time there was a talk of Shweta coming back in Kahaani, but somehow she never did. In fact she totally stayed away from the saas bahu sagas on the small screen.

But now it seems it's patch up time for both the ladies! Our sources reveal that Shweta has been approached to play Mr. Bajaj's (Ronit Roy) new wife in Kasauti Zindagi Kay. For those uninitiated, Ronit's track has been missing in the post leap phase of the show, and news is that he will soon re-enter, bringing in a major twist in the tale.

When contacted, Shweta (who is busy with the Naach Baliye 2 rehearsals with hubby Manav Gohil) was a bit reluctant to divulge the details. But she disclosed, "Yes I have been approached for Kasauti…..and I am seriously considering the offer."

Shweta has recently made a statement in a newspaper that she is very much open to substantial roles and that her talent is being wasted sitting at home. This model turned actor has currently two shows on air - Current Bollywood on Sony Max and Sohni Mahiwal on DD1, and is looking forward to flaunt her dancing skills on NB 2.

Will Shweta reconcile with Balaji? If so, it will not only mark a good spell for her career but will also infuse a new life in the show!

"God is not a person but cosmic power"

There are times in all our lives, when we desire the need for divine intervention; times, when life refuses to acknowledge the seemingly obvious and decides to take refuge in a world that is far away from ours. A world that gives the body and mind the spiritual healing that it yearns for. We, at Telly Chakkar.com decided to delve deeper into the lives of our favourite stars and know a little about their lives beyond the obvious.

Veteran TV and stage actor Rituraj Singh who currently has K Street Pali Hill, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Ek Ladki Anjani Si on his plate, is quite a spiritual man off screen.

He religiously practices the surya namaskaar (paying respect to the Sun God at sunrise) and is a firm believer of the cosmic power and cycle of karma!

Anil Merani engages in a soul enriching conversation with this 42 year old Suryavanshi Rajput.

" Our past karmas decide our present"

God is not a person but cosmic power
God pervades everywhere and is in every living being, be it humans, plants or animals.
Whatever we do or think, is all at the command of this power, but these instructions are not arbitrary. Have we ever questioned as to what power or battery is there, that gives genesis to a human being or what causes the seasons to change, what keep the planets in their orbit around the sun? All these natural phenomenas are also controlled by the cosmic power.

Karmic accounts of our previous life dictates our present

It's karma that decides what we get in our current lives. That explains why some people are born healthy while others die at birth. The world is a very unfair place to be. One sees injustice all around and are helpless about it. I believe that our karmic account either allows us to learn from our mistakes or condemns us if we repeat them. This could be the reason why human beings never learn from history and keep committing the same blunders over and over again while there are people who reach great heights despite all odds.

"I worship the Sun God every morning"

There is divine purpose for whatever happens
Be it good for bad, everything happens for a reason, which is meant for our well being. Actually I started believing in this theory because of my own experience. When I was young, two drastic events occurred which changed my perspective. It forced me to admit that there are things which are beyond human control.

My faith in surya namaskaar
I worship the Sun God every morning. This pooja was taught to me by a person from my past life in my dream. Whenever I practice this ritual for about 10 seconds I feel uplifted, as if I am on top of the world. It lightens my day and brings equilibrium in my life. So, I try not to overreact or go to any extremes in any given situation. I don't feel too happy by positive events or saddened by bad incidents.

Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki is following Kyunki's footsteps and is getting ready for yet another leap. This decision allegedly was taken after Ekta Kapoor felt that the shows Nach Baliye and Betiyan could pose as serious threats to her serial. Although everyone is talking about the leap, no one wants to admit it in print yet.

"It's better if you ask the creative heads. They are the right people to answer your queries,'' says actress Tina Parekh who plays Shruti when quizzed about the leap. Actress Achint Kaur too feigned ignorance. "We haven't been informed about it yet and I am not sure about the news, so I can't comment on it. It would be better if you get in touch with the production house", she said. This is exactly how the Kahin to Hoga gang acted when they were first asked about their leap, which will take place in the coming months.

So we decided to get in touch with the people who work behind the scenes. "I am not handling the show. So I don't know anything about it. You have to ask the creative head Meetu," said Balaji chief creative head Nivedita Basu. "I can't make any comments about a leap. I will have to consult Ekta before I make any comments,'' said Meetu. The lady seemed too scared to confirm things without getting the green signal from her boss.

Ekta Kapoor on the other hand was unavailable for comment. Rumour has it that Ekta is all set to revamp the show, but is still uncertain about the track. Moreover the non-moving story of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki can get interesting only by taking a leap. There is no other rational twist and turn left for the soap to explore.

Fraud alert for Karmarkar
By: Shaheen Parkar
September 30, 2006

A man posing as an authorised water purifier service personnel entered Kiran Karmarkar's Kandivili home yesterday morning. He claimed to be from Eureka Forbes and proceeded to check their Aquaguard system.

Karmarkar, who was home at the time, got suspicious and asked him for his identity papers, and kept probing till he found that the man was not from Eureka Forbes. The actor then took him to the Samta Nagar police station and lodged a complaint.

People beware

"For a moment, it was very scary. Luckily, I was at home and so was my wife, Rinku. I called Eureka Forbes and they were clueless about this man's identity. On further probing, I learnt that he was just posing as an Aquaguard service personnel," says Karmarkar, who is seen in the Star Plus show Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman.

Best remembered for his role as Om in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Karmarkar will also feature in the new Star One drama, Saathi Re.

"The reason why I want to highlight this incident is because I want to make people aware of such fraudulent people. I'm sure most people don't even bother to check the credentials of such people, and allow them to enter into their homes and even pay them for it. I want people to be alert."

Tamper tantrums

It was later revealed that the man was from a Malad-based company called Aqua Care. "These kinds of companies always mention 'aqua' in their names to confuse people. They ask for new contracts to be made and make a good amount of money in the company's name.

Moreover, I am informed that some of these so-called service personnel even tamper with the purification system and damage its parts so that gullible customers have to shell out money for its repairs. "

Incidentally, the actor had received a phone call earlier from the 'aqua' company asking him for his residential address, as their service personnel needed to check their water purification system.
