“I thought you weren’t feeling well.” Sonakshi felt her heart racing as she heard the voice behind her. Biting her lips nervously, she slowly turned around to face him. Hari had mentioned that he was at the hospital, clearly that wasn’t the case.
“Um, it was a minor headache, nothing a nap can’t fix.”
“Really, so you left your set early and stopped picking up calls for a minor headache. Hard to believe.” His words laced with sarcasm caused Sonakshi’s anger to flare up.
“Rohit, thoda zyaada nahin ho raha. I didn’t get much sleep last night so I had a headache this morning. Thank you for asking how I’m doing by the way. I’m much better now in case you even care.”
“Care? I was so worried Sonakshi! I called your set and they said you left because you weren’t feeling well. I called your phone and even your landline and no one picked up. And you think I don’t care?” Sonakshi looked away at the raw emotion in his eyes. She managed to hold herself together for so long, she won’t let herself break now.
“Rohit, ready to go for my check-up? I’ll just—-“ Raima stopped mid-sentence as she saw Sonakshi and most importantly realized that she walked in during a very tense moment. “Oh, hey Sonakshi.”
“Hi Raima, how are you feeling,” Sonakshi asked with a polite smile.
“Better, just a few more checkups and I should be able to stay away from hospitals for a while.”
“Well, you are going to be part of a family of doctors. You should be fine.”
Raima nodded taking in the scene before her. She glanced at Rohit who was looking at Sonakshi with intense longing. She wondered if Sonakshi was as unaffected as she looked by the heat of his gaze.
“Ready Sonakshi!” Pooja and Ajit came down and greeted her.
“Where are you guys going?” Rohit reluctantly shifted his gaze from Sonakshi to the excited duo.
“Rohit, I thought I told you. We are all going to the movies. Pulkit will meet us there after buying the tickets. After ages, we are going to watch a Bollywood movie!”
“What did I do to not deserve an invite to this little party?” Pooja looked at her cousin in confusion as he glared at Sonakshi.
“Rohit, you hate Bollywood films! In fact, I don’t remember you ever joining us the few times we went in the past. I’m so glad Sonakshi showed us the trailer for this awesome new movie. We can’t wait to watch it! Do you want to come with us?” Ajit and Pooja shared a look while Rohit kept his gaze on Sonakshi.
“No, you are right! I don’t like Bollywood films. Anyway go have fun and Sonakshi, please do eat something afterwards. You don’t want to leave the theater with another minor headache.” He gave her one of his sarcastic Sippy smiles.
Sonakshi glared at Rohit and walked away, Pooja and Ajit right behind her.
Rohit stared at the door as Sonakshi walked out. Raima reached out and rubbed Rohit’s shoulder. “You should tell her. She still thinks we are together.”
“She doesn’t want to talk to me anymore. Do you know how long she’s been avoiding me? I asked her and she simply denied it, accusing me of overreacting. But I know she is avoiding me! I went to her set and even her house. Sonakshi is somehow always busy. I just wanted to talk to her and tell her how I feel! But I guess she doesn’t feel the same. Her mom had the audacity to shut the door on my face,” Rohit choked up and blinked away angry tears. Raima patted her friend on the back gently.
“Should I talk to her?”
“No, if she doesn’t want to see me, then I won’t see her either. It’s over! Thank you for offering.”
“Rohit, don’t be stubborn. You clearly care for her, you need to talk to her and tell her how you feel! It’s certainly not over. Anyway, can you drop me to the hospital? After that, Dr. Karan promised me a coffee so he can drop me home.” Rohit smiled at Raima’s words.
“Aha, I see. Coffee with Karan,” Rohit teased as Raima blushed.
“It’s nothing like that. We had a little disagreement and I was right as always so he owes me a coffee.” Rohit smiled cheekily as Raima rolled her eyes.
“Okay, let’s go otherwise I’ll miss my appointment.”
“Alright, let wait in the car. Ravi will meet us outside in a few minutes.”
As Rohit and Raima walked to the backseat of the car, he stared at the empty driver’s seat.
I miss you Sonakshi.

The emotional tense was felt through out. Being stubborn both of them, it’s gonna take ages for their love to blossom I suppose. Hahahaha

Pulkit, Ajith and Pooja (and pari but because she is ew, I wont count her) are the babies of both families. Scenes with them and leads are cute❤️🙈 They'll atleast force them to have fun🙄

Sonakshi ran her hands through her hair one last time and once she was happy with the result, she got up to leave her makeup room. Suddenly, the door opened and closed startling her. Sonakshi turned around to see Rohit standing there with a big smile on his face, giving her a sense of deja vu. I’m smiling because mom asked me to. Seeing him stand there reminded her to the drama that once took place between them. Instantly, she felt a surge of sadness and anger erupt from somewhere inside her.
“What happened Sonakshi? Are you not happy to see me?” His smile faltered a little as he looked into her eyes. The usual twinkle was missing and she looked a little annoyed.
Sonakshi walked towards him and looked up at the man who was more than a head taller than her.
“Rohit, do you not understand that I work here? I don’t come here to play games. Just like the hospital is to you, my set is of utmost importance to me. I take my work very seriously and after everything that happened recently, I need to give it all to make sure the show remains a success. Frankly, I can’t waste my time chatting or getting distracted. You are my friend and I am happy to see you but you can’t expect me to jump with joy each time.”
Rohit just stared at her, confusion and hurt washing over his face and Sonakshi mustered all her courage to keep up the facade. She was breaking on the inside but her eyes remained fierce. Sonakshi was done getting hurt and being on the receiving end of his confusing signals. He loves Raima and considers Sonakshi his friend. If he can’t differentiate and place boundaries between them, she would.
“Look Rohit, don’t take this the wrong way but you can’t keep dropping by whenever you want to. People will start gossiping if they keep seeing you here every other day. We are not even fake dating anymore so there is no excuse. I’m sure you have other important things to take care of, as do I.” Sonakshi sighed and gave him an irritated look. Rohit raised an eyebrow and she could see a hint of anger in his eyes.
“Really? You never had a problem with me dropping by earlier. What changed in a matter of days, Sonakshi?” He demanded and she knew he was lashing out because he was upset.
“Rohit, I still don’t have problem with you dropping by occasionally but with the drama being over, is there really a need for you to come here so often?” Sonakshi felt her voice wavering but she quickly steadied it. Rohit reached out to grab her hands and she stepped away before he could touch her. He looked down at his hands and Sonakshi almost gave in. She wanted to run into his arms and not let him go. But that wasn’t possible, not today, not tomorrow, not ever. He didn’t feel what she felt for him and knowing that hurt so much. She needed to create a distance between them. Otherwise, she would break a little more each and every moment she was in his presence.
“You think I used to drop by just because of the drama? I came to see you Sonakshi. I enjoy spending time with you.” His voice was soft and earnest.
“Is Raima okay with you dropping by?” Rohit looked up and gave her a look of confusion.
“Why would she have a problem!”
“I guess you are right. I don’t think she should have a problem with our friendship. Anyway, I have to touch up and go film my scenes for today.” She turned away from him and started to move towards the mirror.
“Sonakshi, are you angry with me? Have I done something wrong? I’m really sorry if I hurt you in any way. Please talk to me.” The desperation and innocence in his voice tugged at her heart. Sonakshi tried to ignore the lump in her throat. She blinked away any traces of tears in her eyes. Once she was sure her face didn’t betray her thoughts, Sonakshi turned to face Rohit.
“I am not angry with you Rohit. I am just a little tired and stressed out. No offense, but not everything revolves around you nor is everything going to happen how you want it to. I am being honest and telling you how I feel about something and I hope you can respect it. I helped you with your drama and now it’s over. What else do you want from me?”
Sonakshi looked away as she noticed the lone tear escape his eye as he took in her words. He stood silently for what seemed like an eternity and finally spoke up.
“I just want you to be happy Sonakshi. I promise I won’t bother you on set anymore. I came here today because you weren’t picking up my calls and I wanted to see if everything was okay with you and your family.”
“I appreciate that Rohit. Everyone is fine at home and I’m doing well.” He nodded and stood awkwardly looking at his shoes. “Thank you for asking Rohit.”
Sonakshi hated how formal she sounded and she was sure it made Rohit uncomfortable as well. They hadn’t spoken like this even when they met for the first time. But this was necessary, for both of them. She knew he always looked forward to visiting her set and they had spent some beautiful moments together. But those moments were nothing but memories, both beautiful and painful.
Rohit nodded slowly, a few more tears escaping his eyes. He swiped them away and opened the door. He looked back one more time but Sonakshi looked away. Rohit sighed softly and left the room. Sonakshi leaned on the side of the door, watching him walk to his car. Just by the way he was walking, she knew she hurt him. Rohit always had an air of confidence and grace about him but today his entire posture reflected the pain he was in.
Sonakshi turned back to her makeup room, locked the door and sank to the floor. She let the sobs escape her as the raw pain consumed her.
This is for the best Rohit. I’m sorry, I can’t witness and cheer your love story. I am not mahaan like Parvati. I love you and I hate seeing you with her. But I truly hope you have a life full of happiness and joy with Raima.
I randomly decided to check out the forum today and was blessed with this. Woww, this was beaautifully written! You've done an incredible job, seriously! The pain Sonakshi felt and the confusion experienced by Rohit - both were described in such a subtle, yet impactful manner. I really enjoyed reading this!
I hope that this is the characterization we get to see on TV too. Sonakshi is not Parvati. I don't want her to have to pretend she's okay with Rohit-Raima (if that ever happens). She needs to do what is best for her, which would be to enforce these boundaries. That's more realistic, and more apt for the character that Sonakshi is.
