There's a fine line between jealousy and possessiveness, and in your story, there is that balance because we see that Sonakshi maintains control of her situation. I'm hoping the writers are sensible enough to show something similar once they are together too.
But getting back to the concept of jealousy, I feel like Rohit needs some jhatka like this to realize what he's starting to feel for her (if anything at all). Even Sonakshi is sort of trying to portray that they're just friends, but she's almost at the brink of accepting that she is in love with him. It's just Rohit that we have to wait for now.
Perhaps with a new Kunal in the show, we'll get to see something like this. (Hoping the new one isn't a creep though, cause I've had enough of that). Rohit needs that push to acknowledge why he feels drawn to her and perhaps there's no better way for that than something like this! :P
