Sony's Nayee Dopahar, the afternoon slot that was launched in a big way a few months ago, has flopped. The channel wanted to generate an afternoon viewership with a bunch of new serials. However, few months down the line, the shows namely Kabhie To Nazar Milao and Risshton Ki Dor have failed miserably. As a result, the channel has decided to pull Kabhie To Nazar Milao off air.
When contacted, Sudeepa Singh aka Sunaina, the female lead in Kabhie To Nazar Milao, confirmed the news. "The last episode will be telecast on November 2," says Sudeepa. Sudeepa however complains that the show was not promoted well. "The channel could have promoted the serial by showing some exclusive capsules. But they didn't and now all of us have to suffer the consequences," she adds.
According to the grapevine, Risshton Ki Dor too is going off air. Touted as one of the biggest shows, with actors like Anuj Saxena and Urvashi Dholakia in the leads, Risshton Ki Dor has often seen unreasonable deviations in its tracks. It also saw the ouster of actor Gaurav Chanana and inclusion of Moon Moon as an investigating officer Neha, which possibly worked against the popularity of the show.
However, creative head of Rissshton Ki Dor, Amit Sharma says, "I have heard about the show going off air. But it is not confirmed as yet. As present, the story is going back to its original track and will again explore the brother-sister relationship. We are just trying to abide by the demands of the channel."
According to a source in the production team, Risshton Ki Dor is all set to wind up in December. "Sony is on a revamping drive. It is pulling off all the shows that are not generating decent TRPs," says the source. Sandiip Sikcand, Sony's chief creative director, says, "We haven't come to any final conclusion as yet. But we intend to revive our afternoon band with four or five new serials."
