You are participating in a dance reality show – Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar, Kabhi Kabhii Yaar – for the first time
Yes, a reality show is something I've never done before, so I took up the challenge. But being with the Karn Vir and Teejay jodi made things easier for me, because Karn and I have worked together in Kasauti Zindagii Kay for the longest time, and share a good rapport. It's fun working with him again after a year-and-a-half. To be honest, I get cold feet when dancing, but I thought what better way to get over your fears than with the support of friends?

You quit Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki because you felt stifled as an actor, now you're back on the show
I exhausted the character of Shruthi in the serial, there were no more emotions left to emote! I needed to move on as an actor, so I left the show. But I'm back for a while to give a definite end to my character. I was with the serial for quite a long time, I felt it was the decent thing to do when I was called back for a few episodes. The end of my character in the show will be a gradual progression of the storyline.

Besides Kabhi Kabhii... and finishing off Kahaani..., what else is on your work platter?
Actually, nothing. With no offence to what I've done before, or what's being aired on TV, I really want to do different kind of work now. That's why I took up a reality show. I want to host a talk show, I want to do films. I'm deliberately staying away from the clichd stuff.

So what kind of roles are you looking for now?
One lesson I've learnt in my career so far is not to limit yourself by saying 'I want to do only this' or 'I don't want to do that'. It's the wrong thing for me to say such things, because I have not done much yet. I'm a quick learner, and I want to look at every new opportunity from a fresh

perspective. There's no harm in trying out different kind of roles.

You were criticised for being on the plumper side. Do you think looks overtake talent in your profession?
One can't undermine the importance of looks in this profession. And today, with more awareness, everyone is so health conscious and fit. When I got married, I kind of let go, I had valid reason to eat and not work out. I used to just laugh it off saying: 'Hey, I just got married!' Now, since I don't even have that excuse, and am working at toning up.

Our actors' take on the small screen…

We caught up with some of the actors and got their take on the small screen and more. Here are the excerpts.

Take on Bollywood…
I love bollywood! Everything is attractive about bollywood from films to songs to glamour to comedy to being realistic…every single thing is really nice.

Take on TV artists hosting shows…
Some are good and some are bad. There are a few who just stick to acting which looks very artificial. The most important thing about hosting is to have a good body language which some of them lack.

Take on reality shows…
They are awesome and really good where people feel close and actually connect to. There are so many upcoming talents and these shows are a good platform. The concept itself is very different and these shows are a break for many actors from the regular saas-bahu soaps. There is also good money and having celebrities as part of these shows is another thing which is really cool.

Take on TV industry…
TV rocks! But we could think of having more and more realistic shows like Saaya, basically give a lot of variety to the audience. But with my experience in the TV industry, the actors whom I worked with are so down to earth and we are like a family. I gel well and have a good comfort level with them.

Take on K-serials and Ekta's latest mythology…
I didn't start off with Ekta but what I like about her is that she does not imitate anybody. But people have tried imitating her, which was not possible and will never be. She gives the masses what they want. She realizes that variety is the spice of life which is the result of her latest mythology and reality shows. She has made lives and made so many people so rich. And she also gives preference to her people which is again encouraging for them. I have not seen her latest mythology, so I cannot comment much about it but of course I did see the promos…they are fabulous and different.

The ruler of small screen is…
Without doubt Ekta is the queen of TV. She is the ruler of TV and come on we must give the credit to the lady for having changed the entire phase of TV

She is somebody one cannot ignore.

I am an actor and I will love bollywood. It is an opportunity for good roles in the fraternity. I am a movie buff… I eat, sleep and drink bollywood… It is a part of me.

Take on TV artists hosting shows…
It is an excellent idea. Audience will get to see a different side of their favourite actors. And it is also good for actors to experiment on different aspects. It gives the satisfaction and gives you the high.

Take on reality shows…
Again excellent! These shows are an extension of performance within a given time limit. A platform which gives a lot of scope for performance.

Take on TV industry…
It is my bread and butter. It provides employment to hundreds' and thousands' of people in a healthy way. It is a break for so many people. Just one thing not so good about TV is the long working hours and last minute schedule changes.

Take on K-serials and Ekta's latest mythology…
Wow! Being quite young, she has established herself so well that nobody else, not even veterans will match to her level. She has made lives. Her name, her brand is altogether different and too vast to compare. She is a convinced person and very brilliant with amazing intellectual level. And she is the one who breaks conventions.

The ruler of small screen is…
If it is a concept that we are talking about, then the ruler is all the channels taken collectively but if it is an entity, then it is definitely Ekta Kapoor…

Fantastic, brilliant and amazing. We have great people here and people here are very hard working. But there are certain constraints in TV like meeting day to day deadlines which is more stressful as compared to working in films.

Ekta is always experimental and her saas-bahu sagas are just fantastic and amazing. She is a creative person and does not get stuck to doing one thing which has resulted in Mahabharat and reality shows. The industry needs more and more such people. She is a complete industry in herself. A new avatar who is open to new ideas.

Ekta Kapoor seems to be the one as of today.

Take on Bollywood…
Bollywood is like a dream which soon turns into a night mare. But still the dreaming will continue. It is a non-profitable business if you consider the overall money that is put in. There is no logic and everything is glorified and hypothetical, yet it is the largest.

Take on TV artists hosting shows…
It is wonderful and I love it. But it is always nice to see them only for a short span and after sometime people always look for a change. If it is for a short span, the TRP's will also go high.

Take on reality shows…
They are the next thing that would take over other programs on TV. But people will have an overdose of it after a stage. After exploiting all genres, there will be something else that will come up and it will continue from there. But the channel will get its TRPs and most of all mobile companies are big time making profit because of these shows.

Take on TV industry…
It is just booming up. Today we have en number of channels and so many shows. It is just unbelievable. Five years back, a new channel was a big thing but today it is not a big deal even for the channel people. The outlook is different and has changed completely.

I am a part of Ekta's mythology and she has come up with her vision. She has created history on TV

And we have people who are for and against her but still watch her serials. She has become a part of so many families. She is extravagant and has a good heart of spending so much money to come up with big things. She has the zeal to exist and dream big which makes her stand out from the rest. And success or failure is bound to happen and it is a part of everyone's life.

The ruler of small screen is… It has to be Ekta and whom else? She is the biggest star on TV and I don't know what to say beyond this. Such is her track record.

If Hiten Tejwani and his Gauri survived in Nach Baliye for six weeks it was not because of their dancing skills but popularity. Post-Nach Baliye, even though Hiten has improved quite a bit, Gauri remains a non-dancer. This was once again proved in the opening episode of Kabhi Kabhi Pyaar, Kabhi Kabhi Yaar. The show features popular television actors dancing with their real and reel life partners. While Hiten danced his heart out with reel partner Nandini Singh and shared great chemistry, judges didn't find the same between Hiten and his wife which didn't go down well with Gauri. Of course, like a good husband Hiten tried to balance things and promised to improve his chemistry with Gauri. How far they succeed is yet to be seen but right now, Nandini is surely smiling and enjoying it all.

Kashmera Shah and Krushna Abhishek

Kashmera Shah and her live-in boyfriend Krushna Abhishek were denied a place at Duplex Heights in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri because they haven't tied the knot.

The couple who currently stays at Kashmera's Yari Road residence were looking for a bigger house and finally zeroed down on a 4-BHK flat in Duplex Heights.Little did they know that their 'not married' status would pose a problem.

Our well-placed source from the industry says, "Kashmera and Krushna were hunting for a bigger and better place. A few days ago, they finalised a flat at Duplex Heights. After all the formalities were done, the couple was told that they wouldn't get the flat because they are not married."

When contacted, Kashmera sounded furious. She said, "Why do I need a marriage certificate to have a roof over my head? What's the big deal about Krushna and me living in? Just because I am open about my life, nobody has the right to decide where and how I should live. Are we living in a free country or not?"

Kashmera said, "I was told by my real estate consultant Ladiwala that the building's committee member, Nawman Malik (film producer), had raised the objection. Another real-estate consultant Shivaji Darbar who deals with Duplex Heights told Ladiwala that Malik didn't want us in that building."

When contacted Shivaji said, "There is no such law that can prevent Kashmera and Krushna from living together. But yes, Nawman Malik did object to them living together in Duplex Heights only because they were not married."

On the other hand, Nawman said that he was not aware that Kashmera and Krushna had applied for a flat in Duplex Heights. However, he added, "Yes, there is a law in Duplex Heights that a couple needs to be married before they check in."

Karnvir creates trouble

Karnvir Bohra, who quit TV to concentrate on Bollywood, has been creating havoc in Shahid Kapoor's life.

No, the actor isn't trying to get more scenes or cut Shahid's role. We are talking about their on-screen rivalry. Karnvir who has been much appreciated in negative role on the small screen will be seen playing a mean guy in Kismat Konnection .

We hope the actor gets to do some good deeds on screen or he'll be stuck with the bad guy roles. Watch out, Karn!

Ekta's eternal quest continues

Nothing done on a small scale when it comes to our 'K'zarina - Ekta Kapoor. Be it her daily soaps, epic mythology or reality shows, every bit of the showcase is a magnum opus. And with her daily soaps and epic mythology, Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki being in the eye of the storm, her latest venture - Balaji Production's debut reality show, " Kabhi Yaar, Kabhi Pyaar' is creating a buzz in the industry.

Another reality show - but the industrywallahs told us, "If it is Ekta Kapoor's, then it is on the must-watch list." As we had earlier reported, the show is about icons of our small screen dancing with their on screen and off screen partners. The 'threesome quotient' is yet to be narrowed down, but we hear that her favorites - Rakshanda Khan and Sachin Tyagi have been roped in to play the hosts for the show. But its still speculation because Ekta wants Rakshanda to focus on her mythology. A source from the Balaji camp tells us that, "She is not very comfortable with her Mahabharata characters working on other shows, lest they distract the audience." Both Rakshanda Khan and Sachin Tyagi remained unavailable for comment.

And the quest for the judges still continues. Icons like Mahesh Bhatt, her father, Jeetendra, Dream girl, Hema Malini are being considered, but we also hear from a source who said, there was a probability that the channel may rope in Dev Anand if the dates and the figures add up right. A source also tells us that the channel was in a quandary because most of the celebs are taken in reality shows and the ones who are willing to make a comeback on the small screen are quoting astronomical sums.

Ekta Kapoor's quest continues. But we hear, that her production team and the channel is pushing all the guns because the show is slated to go on air from 9 July and will be aired every Wednesday and Thursday at 8.00 pm. Keep reading this space as we bring you the behind the scenes happening.

i dont know if this article has been posted before...but if it has im sorry mods can lock the topic!!

The grapevine is abuzz with the talks of Jatin Shah, who plays the character of Raunak in Star Plus' Kasturi, and Priya Bathija aka Afreen of ' Khwaish' going steady for a while now. Though the two actors have been maintaining a good friend tag and not making anything open about their love life but their body language and craving for each other says it all to anyone who cares to observe.

As Priya Bathija says, ' I like everything about Jatin. He respects me and we enjoy each other's company. We are not dating currently, but I don't know what tomorrow holds. I have been in Dubai for the last five months for the shooting of Khwaish and we have not met up, but we are in touch. In Kyunki' I played Mouni Roy's friend as was plump then. After that I lost nine kilos by walking everyday for forty five minutes, I stopped eating rice and oily food and increased intake of water and vegetables.'

Priya Bathija is playing the character of a middle class girl Afreen in Khwaish who shoulders the responsibilities of the household after retirement of her father without worrying about her own future. With this serial Ektaa Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms company will be returning to Sony channel.

Priya plays the role of Ganga, daughter of Bani and Jay Walia after the show has taken a time leap of 16 years. As soon as Khwaish went off air where she was playing a lead role, she was offered Ganga's role in Kasamh Se. Ecstatic about life she has all the reasons to be happy as her new role has taken off well and she is blissfully in love with her beau Jatin Shah (He acts in the show Kasturi).

Your role in Kasamh Se is extremely different from the one you played in Khwaish. Which one do you enjoy more?

The role of Ganga is more real. I am enjoying it because it is new to me. Ganga has her own priorities; she is a party animal, a brat unlike Afrin of Khwaish who was sacrificing, homely and a quiet girl.

Isn't it true that you were offered a role in Kasamh Se to compensate with the winding up of Khwaish?

No it was not just to compensate. Ekta Kapoor offered me such a nice role in Kasamh Se because she must have seen some potential in me. She knew that I have a capability to do different kind of roles. I won't deny that I was really upset when Khwaish went off air but soon I was offered this new role for which I am very thankful to Ekta Kapoor. I just had to go through a look test for getting this role. I feel Ekta Kapoor was sure about my acting.

How did acting happen?

I was aspiring to be an airhostess and one day when I was watching Telly Awards, I suddenly got interested in acting and wanted to become one of those TV actors. I came to Mumbai from my hometown Nasik to chase my dream. I auditioned for Balaji Telefilms and grabbed a small role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and that is from where my acting career began.

How is it working in Kasamh Se?

So far I have shot only twenty episodes of it. Ram Kapoor and other senior actors from the show are very supportive. It is such a great show. I am extremely lucky to have got a chance to do such a big show. It is an advantage taking up a role in the show which is already popular.

Were your parents comfortable with you choosing acting as a career and staying in Mumbai?

Earlier my father was very apprehensive. It took a lot of time for me to convince him but now he is proud of me. My parents feel thrilled when they see me on screen.

How did you meet your boyfriend?

We first met at a common friend's party. From then on we became friends. That was the time when two of us had just started our careers. We started hanging out together and one day he popped the three words I was waiting for.

How are things going between you and your boyfriend Jatin?

We are seeing each other since one and a half years now and it has been great. He is appreciating my work in Kasamh Se. These days we are so busy that sometimes it gets difficult to find time for each other. Both of us are supportive of each other's work.

Any plans of settling down in marriage?

We are definitely planning to get married. If every thing goes as planned, I will marry next year. Till then, both of us want to concentrate on our careers.
