Even in sankashti they discouraged appu from starving in fasting. Mai specifically said that women of our family Don't starve in fasts. They eat during fasts.

@bold: that's true...I forgot about that. But isn't vat savitri/karwa chauth fasting diff from the fasting of other festivals? Honestly speaking, we don't do any of these fasts in my family so no idea but yes, I never really understood that idea either...and to make it progressive and still follow the old traditions, then both husband and wife should be fasting.

Either way, I agree that we can't have the fast before this issue is solved...won't be any fun to watch. All these silly moments in between is fine right now but romantic scenes won't be fun to watch with this Netra issue still between them and DBS still acting like he hasn't done anything wrong. So I hope and I'm pretty sure that whatever way of the fasting track they show, it will only be after this is solved...maybe as a buffer for this track and the next studying track.

Episode was good for me: full of family moments, Appu irritating DBS, and DBS getting frustrated with her teasings...and they seem to be setting up for a future track too since they brought up Avantika Tai (daughter ya sister...still confused but we will find out with Appu)

Netra was there but it was over the phone and barely for a minute so can definitely watch.

Heads up though: Netra will be coming to the picnic per the precap...DBS didn't look happy about it either and Appu will accuse DBS of calling her there so looks like things are going to come to blows soon. oh and Dr.K is back.

PS: Most of the pages of discussion have been about if Avantika is a sister or Mai/DK's daughter...so didn't miss a whole lot I think.

Avantika does seem Dada Kaka and Maai's daughter. Shashank used to call her Avantika Tai.

Thanks Harshada…this will help (a lot)….I haven’t watched it so its better i read it first before watching…yay!

I am a traditional girl…I don’t mind fasting and following traditions…its not like my family is putting a gun to my head….and i dont think anyone dies or their health gets effected in one day by not eating..

It’s also good for my health…cleansing in modern world is so much talked about then why is fasting not okay..

If in the show they said ke they dont fast,,,,but if appu sees them/other ladies fasting, she will definitely join them….

I just realized after reading Harshadas translation of episode 220….ke appu ne 1 month ka luggage pack kiya hai,,,to shaayad picnic se sidhi dr.K ke ghar Jane ka plan ho sakta hai….since Dr,K is brought back…and chudail is also there.

I feel, it really does boil down to perspectives.

If I have to choose an optimistic perspective, I would say that fasting for your husband's health was just an excuse that the ancient people had come up with. Just like most of the rituals. To protect women's health as they have been the ones working and exhausting themselves all day and night. Fasting is good for your overall health. I would like to believe even if this may not really be true that back then, people did acknowledge ane prioritized their women's health. Why they made this whole thing up!

But the problem arises when women get forced to fast. Every woman is different. Fasting could be problematic for a bunch of women. A bunch of women may just not want to fast but they are forced to, burdened under the expectations and the fear of getting judged.

I just feel that it should be a choice and no women with compromised health should be forced just because apparently this will give their husbands a longer life

People have to have this clarity that this is symbolic and it must be treated the same way.
