Mona Singh hates dirty bathrooms!

... and Gauri Pradhan loses her cool when other actors report late for work. TV actors tell BT some of their pet peeves

GITA HARI

Everyone has some pet peeve or the other. It could be the work environment or colleagues' habits, but in the television world, there are more chances of the causes that can bog down the actors. Irregular and late timings are the most common problems that every actor encounters. Besides these, each one has his or her own bug meter.
It's always better to mind one's own business and not try to act smart, feels Shakti Anand when he says, "Apart from the director, when somebody else tries to direct me, I get really irritated though I don't usually react." On his part, Shakti keeps to himself and follows the director's commands without interfering.
Punctuality and professionalism are two things that Gauri Pradhan swears by and according to her, "I hate when co-stars are not punctual, don't get ready on time and make me wait endlessly. But then I guess each person has his own problems and these things can't be helped in this industry."
Hussain Kuwajerwala rues the irregular timings of serial shoots as he expresses, "You just cannot plan your day. The day I decide to leave at 6, the electricity goes off, there is a technical glitch or some unforeseen incident and my entire schedule goes for a toss."
Kishwer Merchantt. who was recently stood up for ten hours on the sets of Kaajjal, says she has waited for hours on end, which is most annoying and "I hate the 'logaan' — dhuan effect where smoke is emitted and I have to say my dialogue. It stifles me and if the person is asthmatic, he will sure
ly faint." She also points out that being a vamp on screen, the smoke effect is constant in her scenes.
Anang Desai has some classic and valid reasons that bug him no end. For instance, he says, "When a shot is being canned and an aircraft flies over the studio, we have to shoot the scene again. It is irritating to go on repeating the dialogues. Also, any kind of inefficiency that comes in your way and the telemarketing beeps on the cellphone when you are working can be quite distracting."
Mona Singh and Rakshanda Khan share the same problem, that of heat. Rakshanda who cannot stand the heat, laments, "While shooting, the airconditioners are switched off. The make-up feels clammy and the hair strands stick to your face but you are expected to look picture perfect." Mona too finds nonworking ACs most annoying and "bad bathrooms really irritate me."
Aanchal Dwivedi, Kaveri of Saat Phere, seconds Mona's opinion of the toilet as she divulges, "It infuriates me when the loo you want to use is unclean. There are many things… shooting after 11 pm, when you have an appointment and a technical snag disrupts the schedule. I can go on and on…." laughs the actor.
