I don't think Jyoti ever said that. Sudha came close to saying it once in an argument w/ Jyoti. The context was Deepu filing a police report against Brij re: Sushma, and Jyoti had come home after doing it, and CM was pissed that the police were contacting them re: Jyoti's 'social activities'. In that context, Sudha told Jyoti that their sasural was their home, as Dadi had taught, and that what Jyoti was doing, Deepu could do just as well. In response, Jyoti gave this idiotic reply that when a girl marries, then she does inherit new responsibilities, but doesn't lose her old ones. 🤔
In an absolute sense, no, but as I argued then, Jyoti's 'serving her maayka' wasn't exactly doing her maayka any good. It's not like she was getting KK treated so that he could walk again, or getting a new home for Padma so that she could attract brides for Deepu. Jyoti's serving her maayka was a code for running after Sushma, who was not her maayka, but someone else's wife. This move of hers was stupid even then, regardless of how we look @ it today. If you have 2 or more girls in a family, and both of them are married into different families, is it the job of one of them to chase the other if the latter is in an abusive relationship? Any family would have more problems w/ that than simply the bahu 'serving her maayka'. And what made it worse in this case was that nobody in the Vashist household had any clue of what Jyoti was upto. (Given all that, I consider it one of the serial miracles that Uday didn't kick out Sudha w/ Jyoti, but on the contrary, supported the Sharmas every step of the way - at the time, I feared that Sudha's marriage was done for as well.)
Which is why I am rooting for Jyoti not just to marry Kabir, but move to Jodhpur. That way, no matter what happens in her maayka - whether Padma beats KK, Poonam gets slapped by Dadi, Brij resumes his old ways w/ Sushma, - Jyoti won't be in a position to do squat for anybody, and that will be a good thing. And nor will she run into Pankaj accidentally whenever she visits a nice place - that too will be a thing of the past. Incidentally, the night when Pankaj managed to get Roshni back, did he tell Neelam that they are leaving Udaipur, in addition to that Mt Abu resort? That would make sense, given that they wouldn't want the Sharmas to visit their house, and wonder whose baby is running around. But if Vaishal's report is correct, at least Pankaj & Neelam won't be moving to Jodhpur. Which is good - let them and Bharavi move to Minal's Jaipur, and CM can shack up w/ Kesav-ji.
In the meantime, hopefully, RP and Sumer-ji will show Jyoti her place in her new sasural. 😈
